More Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Intense Eyeshadow with #1

Giorgio Armani Blast of Blue (1) Eyes to Kill Intense Eyeshadow ($32.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a mix of violet-meets-indigo blue and medium-dark, metallic gold that creates a blend of a dusty, bluish purple with a gold-tinged sheen and sprinkling of gold shimmer.   When I applied it dry, the gold seemed to shimmer more, while when I applied it wet, the purple dominated.  As soon as this popped up on the website, I knew I had to order it–so glad I did!

The texture of these feels almost like a cream eyeshadow, but it has the thinness of a powder eyeshadow while retaining some of the blendability of the hybrid cream-powder eyeshadow.  It also works well with other eyeshadow (see this look using #6).  It’s almost like a really dense loose powder that’s been pressed down, because if you dig at it, it loosens.

Though pricey, each shade comes with 0.14 oz. worth of product, which is a hefty amount (normal eyeshadow averages around 0.05 oz., no matter the price).  The only aspect I didn’t love was the little black stopper inside the jar (once you unscrew the black lid), because my longer fingers felt awkward grabbing it (so I just unscrew it upside down so it falls into the cap).

The Glossover

This shade is really interesting, because it ends up being an unexpected mix of the two colors--but you can still see flecks of each.

UGH, that color is so beautiful!!
Do you think these will dry out in time like regular cream shadows? I can never tell with these cream powder hybrids.

    • They just feel as smooth as a cream eyeshadow, but they’re not cream at all – powder :)

      • Debra

I’m having a seriously bad time with fallout from the ones I own (copper and gold shades). I’ve tried patting it on with various brushes, using my finger, Q-tip. Using even a very minimal amount, I still get fallout which gets worse as the day goes on!

I think my oily eyelids are to blame. When I use these powders in the crease, there is no fallout. It’s a shame I have to use them that way, and those shades are gorgeous for my blue eyes, but after 6-8 tries, it’s what I’m doing with them.

  2. Missy

That is seriously one intense, fierce colour. I’ve honestly never seen anything like it before!!

  3. Ellie

Wow, this is such a beautiful colour, I may have to just bite the bullet and buy it.

  4. Lulee

  5. Ashley Sarah

That is not what I expected that to look like, it’s really pretty.

  6. verybecca

    that’s a gorgeous color!

  7. Joan

Looks sort of weird in the jar… and looks a LOT different from the Giorgio Armani website image!

  8. evo

    Omg I want it!

  9. liz

that is beautiful. i love that color and how nearly unexpected the swatch looks compared to the pan

  10. Wow, that is one fab color! I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like it. And so different from how it looks in the pot!

  11. Nichole

Ruh Roh! I have four of these already. I don’t need more, but this is so pretty. GA has a new purple one too. Did you get that one as well?

  12. Tiffani

While I generally can’t convince myself to spend $32 on a single piece of makeup, that color is stunning and oh-so-tempting!

  13. Wow! That’s a cool looking color!

  14. Marie

    Just wow.

I didn’t expect the color to look like that in swatches!

    This is simply amazing.

  15. HOLY WOW that’s cool looking! I finally picked up 4 of these and have been loving them! This will be next on my list! :)

    • YAYYYYYYY! So glad you love them, too!!

      • Oh they’re amazing! I love products like these that have so much depth and personality that you can just use them all over the lid – Sweep something else through the crease, add mascara, and you’ve got an eye look that takes seconds to do and still looks amazing! (That sounded a little to much like a commercial! LOL But it’s true!)

        • I know the feeling! I tested three, and I was like OMG#SDFLJHSDFIOPUER and had to buy the other ten. I was like, “MUST HAVE!”

          • LOL! That (OMG#SDFLJHSDFIOPUER) must mean something pretty amazing! I got OMG and then I was lost lol! I think I might have to try one of those shadows now!

I’ve fallen in love with this color and the black one so hard, I’ll have to make a purchase today. Never seen a color so beautiful like this one. Visiting your blog is dangerous for my wallet but it’s an addiction I can’t get away from…hahah. I visit it 30 times a day whether you’ve posted something new or not, I love it that much.

  17. Gina G

    Wow that is so pretty!

  18. Jill

I’ve loved all of the Eyes to Kill you’ve reviewed so far, and this is no exception! I just have to make up my mind on what to buy!

  19. WOW!!!
    love love love it,
    i neeeed it!

  20. Rachel

Whoah, that swatch color was unexpected!

  21. Amy

    Sooooooooooooo gorgeous.

  22. They are so awesome! I love the look in the tub and the swatch is so beautiful! The macro photo is like art :)

  23. AnGeLwInGz

    Woo-hoo how sexy!

  24. That is such a cool colour! *o* … I think I might have to get it.
Also I don’t know for sure ’cause I haven’t tried these, but it seems like L’Oréal have created some kind of drugstore version of them.
I dunno about how they last (Creasing etc.) but I believe they have stained the back of my hand for days when swatching them.
I want to try them, I think I’m going to buy some!

  25. Angela

Wow,I would have never guessed it would look that amazing by looking at the shadow in the jar.

  26. This is stunning. I love the Eyes to Kill Intense and have Khaki Pulse on its way to me. Now I may need to see if I can get this too. I’ve never used them wet though so that’s what I’ll try tomorrow!

  27. meme

I like how it looks in the pot, but the swatches show up as something I know I could not pull off unless I really could smoke them way down in intensity. So nice to see swatches of things so I am not tempted by looking at bottles/jars or a look model.

  28. Angela

I was wondering when and if you might be reviewing the shade Purpura? I really would like to try one of these shadows out,but I’m curious to see how Purpura looks before I place an order. I’m not really into blues, but the shade you reviewed today is freaking amazing,so if Purpura ends up being a flop I’d definitely go for this one.

  29. amber_j

    That’s an amazing colour!

  30. Katie

These are all so gorgeous! The price tag is steep though so I was wondering which one or two would you say are the best investments, Christine? Thanks!!

  31. That is GORGEOUS! I’m going to have to bite the bullet and get some of these!

  32. Karla

This is beautiful! Do you have any good ideas for a dupe for this shade!?

  33. Wow… I’d pretty much decided that Khaki Pulse was going to be the next one of these I purchased, but this has me rethinking the decision.

  34. LU

What a gorgeous color! Thanks for the review Christine.

  35. J12003

Totally reminds me of the inside of an abalone shell. Such a gorgeous color, I have to get this!

  36. Ooooh. This is maybe the second one I want as more than eye candy.

  37. Maureen

It looks like the Buxom STAY PUT shadows. I got the 4pack today. They’re interesting, powder in pots, but it feels really spongy.

  38. amazon_fashion

    I will buy this!

  39. Kathy

    Thanks for swatching!

  40. Edelmc

good god thats a hot colour….looks like I am going to have to branch out into Armani make up!

  41. rorosalie010

Wooow. Such an unexpected color. I want this. :)

  42. Cindy

  43. Eva Sofia
