Welcome to Free For Haul Friday!

  • Haul:  Burberry Trench Eyeshadow

Share your pet photos to the Temptalia Pets flickr group! :)

This week’s Mellan photo…

Trying to rile Mellan up… he was not having it.

  1. Laura

Haul: Butter London Trustafarian and Dodgy Barnet, MAC Local Wares Fluidline, Estee Lauder Violet Underground palette.

Weekend plans: Welcome Home party for a friend who’s been travelling for a few months. I might bake something.

Do you like to DIY?: Noooo! It’s a nightmare.

  2. Elle

Haul: I went crazy this week. At home on medical leave!
1)I took advantage of the Sleek Cosmetics Sale and got two blush by 3 sets and the contour kit in Dark.
    2) MAC Face and Body in C7
    3)MAC Vex eyeshadow
4)Essie polishes: Recessionista and Very Structured
5)Magnolia Makeup Pigments: Who Dat, Fleur De Fab, and Zany
    6)Elf Makeup Lock and Seal
7)Ben Nye Banana Powder (Makeup Mania is having a sale on Ben Nye Products, BTW)

Weekend plans: Watching ON Demand or Netflix all weekend. And College Football! I can’t get out of bed (Dr.’s Orders) after my surgery so I need something to keep me from online shopping :)

Do you like to DIY?: Sometimes I can be creative but at times I’m like you Christine, let the experts do their jobs :)

  3. GUSnail

    Haul: Nothing :(

Weekend plans: Going to a wedding today-planning on a gold eye look with a plummy/berry lip stain (dress is an eggplant color)

Do you like to DIY?: In theory-but when it gets to it, I’d rather get someone else who can do it quicker and better.

  4. <3 Mellan

    Haul: Fusion Beauty face primer

Weekend plans: Date night tonight (which reminds, I need to run to the store for bubbles!), and we'll see what the rest of the weekend brings :-)

Do you like to DIY?: Depends what it is… :-) I'm quite creative but please don't let me build my own closet or anything!

  5. DJ

I see Mellan has on a sunflower collar, is that in honor of your sunflowers? How are they?

  6. Soo

Mellan is ADORABLE! Love him, give him a big kiss from his online fans! and thanks so much for sharing!

  7. Haul: Revlon Colorstay Whipped Creme Makeup in Ivory. Sadly it’s too dark for me and it’s the lightest shade. There Vanila shade in the there PhotoReady Airbrush Mousse works for me but the glitter finish is what I hate about it. I’m just not meant to have Drugstore options for foundation I guess. >_<

Weekend plans: Going to a Flea-market to sell off stuff Friday, then it's my Parent anniversary on Sunday. ^_^

Do you like to DIY?: Yes all the time. Although I only didn't one year of DIY cosmetics, but yes I make my own cotumes. lol

  8. mirian

Haul: Two of the new Chanel nail colors. SkyLine and Provocation!

Weekend Plans: Tomorrow is my boyfriend’s dad’s 60th birthday dinner and I get to meet his brother (who lives in san diego) and his fiancee for the first time as well. Also…time for our husky to get another bath. She smells.

Do you like to DIY: Honestly it depends. I have never been the “crafty” type, but if it came down to budget and me really WANTING/NEEDING something I would.

  9. Hi Mellan! Doggie kissus from the canine gang here :)

OMG I actually seriously thought it was Thursday! LoL! I saw the Free for Haul post and I did a double take. Big Haul this week with lots of goodies. Illamasqua Fall palettes and lipgloss (yes, the brush was fine until I used it once and same problem as Christine with the brush bits sticking out..but I love the sparkly lipgloss anyway), about a dozen different nail enamels from Dior, China Glaze, Lippmann, etc, a couple of Chanel Joues Contraste for my growing collection, but my most exciting acquisition was a discontinued bottle of Illamasqua Raindrops nail polish which I paid a stupid amount for off of eBay. Now, if I could only get my grubby hands on Chanel Joues Contraste in Caprice…Fat chance!!!

Weekend Plans: Take photos of my first male ball-jointed doll from Iplehouse in Korea. I need a name for him.

Household DIY does not exist in my vocabulary. I would rather get the job done right. Harald is incredibly handy and can manage a lot, but when it comes to big jobs, or serious jobs (electrical, plumbing, hvac), we call the professionals.

    Enjoy your weekend everyone!

    • I’ve been thinking it’s a day ahead all week, LOL!

Argh! I hope you really love Raindrops and it was worth the price!

    • Dinitchka

I looked up Iplehouse as I have not heard of the company. OMG, the dolls look so life-like. I’m loving Douglas … Phantom of The Opera?? I always thought Grandma’s Frozen Charlie (he survived WW1, the Shoah, the Blitz and the trip to the States) was the neatest! Their is no comparison to the look.

  10. Dinitchka

    One word about Mellan: TOOFREAKINCUTE!!!
I hope you get your computer up and running, Christine. I always feel out of sorts without my laptop.

■Haul: Find the rest of the Fergie polishes I’ve been hunting for, and take a look at the new polishes at Walgreens. Other than that I don’t plan on buying anything.
■Weekend plans: Put away the Zoya BOGO promotion nail polishes that came yesterday. Sort through my Avon polishes I need to swatch for a friend. Wash my car and SLEEP! I would cook lunches for this coming week but my oven blew up and it’s being fixed. It’s hard to cook without an oven!
■Do you like to DIY?: Only when I ‘have’ too. I love how people DIY and have such an artistic imagination.

    • I’m basically going to try and get as much work done this AM and hope my hard drive doesn’t fail, but that’s the point I’m at… spent all of yesterday trying to backup/get all the files I needed copied to an external drive and now I will just cross fingers it will last until the new ones are set up!

      • Dinitchka

        Good luck Christine!!

Found 2 Fergie polishes and a few of the Revlon Moon Candy at Walgreen’s. Plus 1 Revlon India Passage(??) crackle. They are having a buy 1 get 1 half off on the Revlon dual ended polishes.

  11. Angie

■Haul: Well I’m planning on purchasing a flat iron today or tomorrow, what is a good one that you guys use?
■Weekend plans:driving up to Nevada with my best friend, I so wish we were going to Vegas :(
■Do you like to DIY?: Sometimes… but I’d rather pay for something that’s already made, I’m not super creative so it doesn’t come easy.

  12. SO SORRY to hear about your computer! I recently had to bite the bullet and just buy a new one because I kept having problems with my old one… I’m STILL setting the new machine up to work how I need/want it to. It’s a pain in the arse!

Haul: I actually bought stuff from the MAC Face & Body collection… Argh! Two of those contour brushes, one of the other brush, three contour creams and three pressed pigment thingies. I did pretty good – I didn’t get EVERYTHING! But I did get a fair amount 😉

Weekend plans: I was sick over my birthday last week so I had to cancel all my plans, including dinner with my parents. Might go visit them this weekend – it’s supposed to be nice up here (in the 90’s!) and my folks have a ton of property for the dogs to run around.

Do you like to DIY?: YES! It’s probably not a shocker but I do. I LOVE learning new things and I’m usually happiest when I’m making something… that can be a painting or a porch. As long as I’m creating I’m in a good space. Around the house we’ve done a fair amount… I can frame and finish a room, hang doors and windows, lay down sub-floors, tile work, light plumbing (installing things) and light electrical (outlets, fixtures, etc.) Jay is a human calculator (I’m HORRIBLE at math) so working with him goes pretty quickly – he’s great with measurements and numbers.

    • You know what the most hilarious part was? Last week, we decided that I’d change my set-up so I’d have a SSD main drive, then work off of a secondary drive for all my photos, so the whole thing would be faster. But, between MAC, NARS, MAC, we figured to wait until NEXT week. Lo and behold, my main drive decided it would be a good time to try and commit drive-icide. It’s not even a year old. Pfft.

Hope you get yours set-up soon! I trust you’ve recovered from being sick last week? Sick on your birthday, boo.

      • Not even a year old? Yikes! I’ve had my laptop for six and a half years! yes LOL OLD! The only thing I’ve done to it was adding a wireless transmitter card because the one in the machine was awful.

      • Recovering yes :) I’m able to eat again! Wee! LOL

This new computer I bought is the first one I haven’t had built to my exact specs so it will be an adventure. Hard drives are lame-o though, you never know when they are going to go… but they all do at some point or another. Hopefully it goes smoothly and quickly!

  13. No, I shall not be having squeaky steak today! LOL

Haul: Nail polishes only: Zoya Song, Nfu Oh 54, Orly Space Cadet & Galaxy Girl, Essie Matte About You and Deborah Lippmann Ruby Red Slippers & Across The Universe (Revolveclothing had a coupon code a bit ago and I got them for $14.40 each. Yay almost affordable!)

    Weekend Plans: Cleany cleaning!

Do you like to DIY?: Um, Like might be too strong a word LOL I generally don’t do very much from scratch, but I have made some clothes in the past and I’m sure I will again- I have fabric! Most of my DIY lately is fixing vintage clothes so they are wearable and sometimes that is a very creative endeavour. Just try to fix a dress that has had a hanger go through the fabric of the shoulder!

  14. Leticia

    Mellan is just adorable!!!

Haul: On my first visit to Sephora in Mexico City last Saturday I got Urban Decay’s Naked Palette (finally mine! I’m probably the last one on Earth to get it :)!), a black Kohl eyeliner by Make Up Forever, Benefit Hello Flawless powder in Champagne, a pair of Tweezerman mini tweezers and Jack Black Lip Balm in Grapefruit (I just had to try it at least once)!
Weekend plans: Housework, playing with my pup and try to take some pictures of her, dinner with my boyfriend to celebrate his birhtday!
Do you like to DIY? – Only if it´s something pretty simple! I also prefer to leave it to the experts.

Good luck with your computer, Christine!

  15. Sam

Sorry to hear about your computer! I’ve gone through hell with mine recently, so I know how aggrivating it can be. I got a virus that crashed everything and wouldn’t let me reload. My dad’s an IT and he couldn’t even figure it out. We had to send it into a shop. When we got it back, a week later my hard drive decided to die out. It is almost 7 years old (that’s definitely elderly for a Dell!) so I knew it had to eventually.

Haul: Some hair things!! I just got my hair cut this morning. What a relief! Lol She uses Schwarzkopf Professionals on me, so I purchased some things from her. Their Osis+ line is amazing! Today I got Magic Anti-Frizz Gloss, Slick Flattening Liquid, and Dust-It Mattifying Powder. Highly recommend this cocktail it if anyone has trouble with heavy or poofy ends, and flat roots.

Weekend Plans: Dropping into my favorite New Age shop tomorrow. I love the store owner with all my heart, I often go in there just to see her. :) Hanging out with the boyfriend and dinner with his fam. The usual. I’m not a very interesting teenager lol

DIYs? Mehh. Sometimes. I have to be in the mood for it. I love doing crafty things, but to my own creativity. I’ve never liked following directions or rules 😉 if the price it right, I’d rather buy it.

  16. Kafka

I adore this video. Mellan is an utter PRINCE! I can’t decide what is my favorite part but I think the plastic steak crown may be up there. Also, the incredibly gentle way he has (particularly when daintily chewing) just makes me want to squeeze him to death.

Haul: Bobbi Brown High Shimmer Gloss in Midnight Violet (you’ve corrupted me!!), Bobbi Brown matte eyeshadow in Steel, MAC matte lipstick in Honeylove, 3 of the new Sephora 12 Hr Long Lasting lipsticks in matte nude & red shades (LOVE), Sephora Ultra Shine lipgloss in Black Energy Reflex, Revlon Colorstay nail varnish in Rain Forrest, L’Oreal nail polish in Eiffel.

Weekend plans: So sorry about your computer. Did you lose all your files and most of your upcoming reviews??! :( My plans: force myself to finally read “The Shoemaker’s Wife” for my bookclub, even though I have a total mental block. Also, I’m going back to the dog park, though hopefully NOT for a repeat of what the Semi-Hairless German did last weekend:

Do you like to DIY?: No. Plus, I’m incompetent. lol. The extent on my DIY is to use nail varnish as a touch-up method.

    • You are a brave soul to take him there 😉

      • Kafka

I obviously have masochistic tendencies. *grin* Totally OT, Christine, is there a way to stop ads on this page from having volume whether or not you click on them? The Lisette pants ad at the bottom of the page starts up with jazz-like music, every single time today, on every single post, every single time I hit refresh or read a new post and regardless of whether I go near it or not. I can’t find a button on it to click Mute and it starts up again each time. Kinda annoying, to be honest.

        • If you could screen shot + copy and paste the address the ad takes you to and email me, I can look into it. We don’t allow ads to autoplay any audio, so it shouldn’t happen, actually!

  17. xamyx

Haul: NARS duos in Portobello, Kilimanjaro, and Vent Glacé, all of which I’ve had my eye on for a while; e.l.f. bronzer in Golden. I *finally* found the ever so elusive Milani single shadows, but I managed to tke a pass on them, as I realized I have *exact* dupes, or at least close enough, of the ones I wanted.

Plans: Nothing, except maybe rearranging my closet now that I’m *finally* done unpacking.

DIY?: sort of; I enjoy “re-purposing” things. For example, I “made” my own palettes for my MAC (and other similarly shaped) shadows using water-color palettes with round wells; I found several for $1 at a discount shop. As for household projects, I’ll leave them to the pros. I do want to learn to use a sewing machine, though.

  18. Haul: Revlon Black with Envy polish, WnW Fergie polishes in Dutchess, Grammy Gold, Blue Eyed Soul and Ferguson Crest Syrah. I am quite impressed with the shades I got. Not too crazy about Fergie, but her polishes aren’t bad at all!

Weekend plans: meeting a friend for lunch tomorrow, volunteering at Animal Haven, cleaning my apartment, reading for school and grocery shopping.

Do you like to DIY?: I do, but if I screw up I get discouraged, which hold me back from trying my hand at other projects. I need to have more faith in myself…

  19. Nicole

Haul: Gorgio Armani Rouge d’Armani Sheer No 600 Plum
Weekend plans: Change several email adresses! I hate my provider!
Do you like to DIY?: Not really.

  20. May

Sorry to hear about your computer! I hope you get it up and running again.

Haul: I got a Revlon ColorBurst Lipstick in Crimson, a refill for the “Cool” Pressed Powder Duo by Paul & Joe, The Sensual Skin Enhancer in SX01 by Kevyn Aucoin and the new Aqua Brow by MUFE in 15 (blonde), which I think was a mistake. I’m probably going to return it to get the light brown shade.
Way too much retail therapy this week… am currently restraining myself from placing an order at the Illamasqua webshop.

Weekend Plans: Studying, studying & studying.

Do you like to DIY?: Sewing is both a necessity for me and my favourite hobby. I’m quite petite and have serious problems when trying to find clothes for my size anywhere other than the children department. So I learned to sew several years ago and now I make most of my stuff myself.

  21. Haul – None
Weekend Plans – taking D out for his Birthday.
DIY? – I like to DIY some things. Like my hair color, yes. My hair cut, no.

  22. Haul:
    Hourglass Foundation/Blush Brush #2
    Covergirl Lipstick Euphoria #360
Covergirl Nail Polish Scandalous (black jelly with purple glitter)
Prestige Cosmetics Total Intensity Against All Odds Liquid Ink Eyeliner Around the Clock (magenta)
Prestige Cosmetics Total Intensity Against All Odds Liquid Ink Eyeliner BFF (teal, hint of aqua)
…and I’m raiding Sephora tonight to see if there’s FNO fallout. I just went on a shopping spree with my goddaughter last week! My wallet hates me =p

    Weekend plans:
I need to unpack and actually put things away in my new apartment. I currently live in a space surrounded by a box fortress.

    Do you like to DIY?:
I finally have the space to do it! I’ve always been the arts and crafts type. My first DIY project for my new vanity is to create a nail polish rack. I don’t have the right tools to make a wooden one, but I have some ideas on how to earthquake proof the foam ones that are all over Youtube.

  23. Joan

This was a GREAT Mellan fix. My heart just melts watching him. More than anything I’d love to know what he’s thinking!!!

Haul: Urban Decay Ocho Loco eye pencil set; Replacements of MAC P & P lip, Studio Sculpt concealer; from MAC SS collection On the Hunt eyeshadow duo, Style Seeker nail lacquer, Eclectic Edge lipglass, & Delectable lipstick

Weekend plans: Under the weather this week, so resting as much as possible, family dinner but I’m not cooking it this time. :)

Do you like to DIY?: I enjoy small projects within my scope of experience, which isn’t much. I used to sew VERY well many years ago, but I’ve somehow lost my passion for it.

  24. BooBooNinja

Congrats on finishing your Burberry Trench!
I’m sorry to hear about your computer. I hope it’s easily fixable.

  25. blueraccoon

Haul: L’Infidele lipstick from Chanel’s Fashion Night Out sets (I passed on the polish) and the Chantecaille Elephant Palette (I collect elephants, so this was a must-have for me).

Weekend plans: Absolutely nothing, which is weird. Normally I have plans for at least Saturday, but nothing this week.

DIY: Nope. I leave that to the professionals.

  26. Barbie

awwwww he’s so cute, i get my dog rilled up all the time she gets pretty annoyed fast so i have to stop before she tries to bite me hahahaha.

haul; lots of kleancolor nail polish, just made a sleek makeup order for their blush by 3 palette and a lippie

    weekend plans; idk!

diy; hahahaha nope i’m not creative

  27. Mariella

Haul: Marcelle’s newest BB cream – they’ve finally come out with a version with SPF20; some Gosh hair colour and something else but I honestly can’t even remember what now….

Weekend plans: We’re away for several days and enjoying a mini-break (shopping, sightseeing, more sightseeing, more shopping)

DIY – I hate it (except for lightweight gardening) but my husband loves it and invariably bites off more than he can finish!

  28. Maya

Haul: YSL Le Fuchsia lipstick, Chanel Complice eyeshadow, Chanel Vertigo nail polish

Weekend Plans: Buy some work clothes, spend some time with my family and boyfriend!

Do you like to DIY?: Sometimes projects like that are fun!

  29. Veronica

Haul: Milani Pitch Black. Ordered a few other things, but I doubt they’ll get here until next week.

Weekend Plans: Ack, hope your computer gets fixed. >_< I'm moving Sunday morning, covering some overtime the same night, studying for the PCAT, and finishing up schoolwork.

Do you like to DIY: I love the creative aspect of it, but I really just don't have the time and energy to do it much anymore.

  30. Deb

OMG Christine I have the exact same chipmunk tree stump toy for my dog!! He LOVES it!!! Super cute!

  31. t_zwiggy

Haul: Illamasqua Nomad and Charisma nail polish, Cirque Colors Kabocha and Neko nail polish, theBalm Balm Jovi Palette.

    Weekend plans: Visit my mom.

DIY: Depends. I like being crafty, but I prefer to leave most to the professionals. When it comes to beauty I completely despise it. DIY lotions, soaps and that sort of things are not for me at all.

  32. Susan

Haul: Maybelline Lipsticks in Strike-A-Rose & Tenacious Taupe, Maybelline Eyestudio Eyeshadow Palettes in Olive Martini & Cozy Cashmere, Maybelline Color Tattoo in Mossy Green, Nivea A Kiss Of Milk & Honey, Nyx Mega Shine Gloss in Salsa.

  33. Wow so calm! How old is Mellan?

My dog goes nuts for anything with a squeaker. We used to have that tree trunk toy, but it was ripped/eaten to shreds! 😛
