Dolce & Gabbana Orchid (115) Shine Lipstick
A Deep Fuchsia Lip for Fall
Dolce & Gabbana Orchid (115) Shine Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.13 oz.) is an paque, deep fuchsia pink with a high glossy shine. It’s bright without being neon, but still a very rich, noticeable color when worn. It doesn’t seem to pull very blue, as many fuchsias do, but it still brightens teeth, giving the illusion of a whiter smile. The consistency is great: creamy without being heavy or overly slippery, while the color is intense in one or one and a half layers of product. I like the rose-scent of Dolce & Gabbana’s lipsticks, but if you’re more sensitive to scent, you might want to sniff before buying.
MAC’s Rebel Lipstick was the closest shade I could find to this particular color, but it pulls a lot redder and a couple of hues darker, while Orchid is distinctly pink (compare the full face photos–the difference is so dramatic!).

Okay I know what lipstick I am going back for - ugh, it started with just one and now I own 1 gloss, 2 lipsticks and an eyeliner. This is going to be a very pricey love affair! Also, the season plays a big part in it. Winter always makes me crave a dark lip. I'm very surprised how pigmented the Amethyst gloss is on it's own. I want to play with the shadows next.
Uh I love this lipstick so much. Would you say there are any dupes for it that are less expensive. I was looking at the Maybelline Bit of Berry color, but it's just so much less intense and little more nude.
Hi Christine, I'm really liking the looks of the D&G Orchid Shine lipstick, and I know that you said that MAC's Rebel lipstick is the closest in shade (although redder), but I'm wondering how this shade might compare to MAC's Show Orchid? I have Impassioned and am also wondering how Orchid Shine compares to that shade? Look forward to your input. Thanks!
Just looking at the product I was initially unimpressed and not sure how wearable the colors were. But wow, the Orchid is beautiful on you. I'm a huge fan!
WOW so pretty . I never had a single D&G makeup product but would like to give it a try because I love their clothes and they are one of my fave brands for clothes .This lipstick is definitely on my must-have list now . Thank you for a great review !
Btw I will be getting it in Orchid but I have a Q for you . What skin tone colors like Cosmopolitan work well with? I always thought these shades were more for girls with very dark skin tones ,but the other day I saw a blonde girl with similar color and it looked pretty on her .So I am not sure any more.
It can work on all skin tones! I would say it probably works better on warmer skin tones (but I haven't worn it on lips yet), since it's quite orange.
Actually I take that back I think it came out last year. Im not sure but it was a fall collection by mac.
I know you havent reveiwed it yet but is cosmopolitan anything like red full stop from like 2 years ago?
lovely... I can't wait to see the swatches from the rest of this collection (I think I'm going to love Amethyst but I'll need to wait and see!)
Sooo gorgeous!!! But not really something I'd wear.... I might check out other shades though, because the formula seems nice...
I've bought D&G shine lipstick in Splendid, on the lips it looks very close to the one on your photo! I love it so much, it's just the lipstisck of the lipsticks!!!
I am so glad you recommended fuschia for fall as I was having second thoughts about the Love Forever! MAC Longwear creme i just bought. I put mine with a grey/black eyeshadow look.
what would you say is the color difference between this and ysl rouge volupte's #12 forbidden burgundy?
How timely that you ask - featuring that YSL lipstick soon! But anyway, it's redder. It's not as pinky/fuchsia. It's closer to Rebel though!
Those look fantastic and creamy! I love the lighter shades. Though, is it just me or does Orchid look different swatched and on your lips?
Orchid looks nice on...& the lipstick cases are nice...however I will leave, I have way too many similar colors in other brands:)
That's gorgeous - I love an orchid lip...I just picked up MUFE #35 which is STUNNING - you must check it out...yay pink!
These look luscious. It's unfortunate that on retailer in Canada carries Dolce & Gabbana cosmetics since they look like the perfect formula. How long is the wear time (except when eating ^_^)
Gorgeous! Rebel is one of my favorites ever, so I might check this out next time just to switch it up! :)
This post makes me wish we'd get this at my Holt Renfrew already. Those lipsticks are just so beautiful! I kinda want them all. We've got Burberry and Tom Ford already but not D&G!
I love this lipstick...they are so pigmented... and I like most the orchid shade.... you should post a picture of this lipstick color paired with an eye makeup!
