Dolce & Gabbana Lip Jewels @ S/S 2011
Sunday, September 26th, 2010

At the Dolce&Gabbana Spring/Summer 2011 Ready to Wear show in Milan, Dolce&Gabbana evoked the relaxed elegance of Sicilian sensuality. The collection’s easy glamour was also evident in the palette used on models’ eyes and lips, each taken from Dolce&Gabbana The Make Up. (Photography by Delphine Achard and Ludovic Belmonte.)
Pat McGrath on Lip Jewels: “The mouth is such a focal point; Stefano, Domenico and I have always believed that drop dead glamour and innermost sensuality comes from an emphasis on the lips,” says Pat McGrath. “So we really worked hard to come up with the shades that were not just our favorites but every woman’s favorites. The three reds we chose are very luscious, shades I’ve worked with time and again on the runway. I’ve played with them a lot-I’ve mixed them together, used them solo-and have come up with very rich passionate looks. And Nude is so perfect for contrast or a really simple natural look… they’re all just gorgeous… overall stunning.”
- FACE: the blusher in Caramel
- EYES: the eyeshadow quad in Nude, the eyeliner in Nude, the mascara in Black
- LIPS: the lip jewels (Classic Cream Lipstick quartet in Dahlia, Devil, Ultra and Nude) (Available in November 2010)
- NAILS: the nail lacquer in Nude

I normally really like D&G's makeup line, but I have to agree, the image of the compact looks a bit tacky to me too. The actual product may look more quality like, though! I'm not a fan of lip palettes, though at least these don't mix powder eyeshadows cream products. That's a big no-no in my book. :) I wonder how many of these compacts Pat McGrath had to go through during the show. Doesn't seem like these hold a large amount of product, suitable for 15 models.
I personally applaud Pat McGrath (<3) and D&G for going the route of a lip palette and kind of re-introducing customers to lip products =] I mean honestly, just look at celebrities, when do you ever see them wearing anything but a taupe/brown/black smokey eye nowadays and how many "tropical eye" or "sunset eye" tutorials are there on Youtube? I think anyone who rocks these shades when this palette comes out is surely gonna be noticed for the right reasons.
well its says "drop dead glamour " ...i ll never buy anything whats been shown at that unhealthy woman body . i dont wanna sponsor that kinda idea. what happened to sexy looking models like in 90ties ?
Makeup aside these women look ridiculously gaunt. Such a shame! You can be beautiful without looking like a skeleton. How horribly unhealthy and unattractive.
i personally don't like lip color palettes. i'm more of a lipglass girl. the packaging is pretty though
Those models look so unhealthy. I wish the industry could change to use people that don't have to starve themselves. Or at least look like the majority of the population. It's such a sad message they're sending.
I was working on a campaign shoot recently, and the MUA used the same tube of mascara with the mascara wand it comes with on all girls. Meaning about 20, or more. No sanitizing whatsoever. Very shameful. I think it's kinda common for MUA's to use their hands though, especially on models. I wouldn't really mind, as long as I get clean hands and a seperate mascara wand. :)
Why do the models look so...such a shame because the compact is gorgeous.....that model is hurting my eye!!!
I love it! The colors look so versatile, and like they would work on any skin tone. Not to mention the packaging is gorgeous. I'm usually strictly a Dior Addict when it comes to lips, but I can't wait to try this.
The Lip Jewel palette looks pretty! If it's released with the spring collection, I will be in Italy and can check it out at one of the D&G counters there! Yay! :p
I disagree. Models shouldn't have to be skin and bones. Slim and healthy, yes, but they just look sick. :(
yes they do not look well. I think slim figures are fine, but not at the cost of health, and these girls look sick :-(
