China Glaze Meteor Shower Nail Lacquer ($3.20 to $7.00) is a rich, dark navy blue with multi-colored square glitter with predominantly cobalt blue sparkle. Meteor Shower is part of China Glaze’s fifty new glitter polishes, along with Atlantis, which I reviewed earlier this week.
While Atlantis applied with a more semi-opaque jelly base, Meteor Shower applies opaque in two coats and looks fairly dark on the nail. Some of the glitter seemed to submerge within the color base, but I still had a good amount show through, so it wasn’t a big deal. I found application and quality to mirror what I’ve come to expect from China Glaze (excellent and excellent), so it’s really a matter of whether this is a shade that calls to you or not! For me, it’s not my favorite shade yet… I am bound to find at least one (or ten) that are much more my style within the fifty, though! If you have any recommendations from the new line-up, I’d love to hear ‘em!
What say you? Is Meteor Shower your new best friend?

Sally’s beauty has some – mine usually has a fairly limited supply tho and they can be more expensive. I use transdesign – their prices & shipping are great!

I’m not sure where in Canada you live, but I get my China Glaze (and OPI) polishes at Chatters. It’s like a salon and supply store. I think that they also might sell it at SOME drug stores? But I’m very much unsure about that. I do know that they sell their polishes in select salons, so perhaps do some browsing at your local salons to see if they carry any China Glaze!

I have this, and it applies opaque in even 1 coat! Maybe I just apply a very thick layer lol!
Love it, very gorgeous.

LOL! I always do two coats, but I think I remember it being pretty opaque in one, though, as well :)

I find that Meteor Shower looks so much prettier when you apply to coats of a dark blue cream nail polish and then one coat of Meteor Shower. Right now I am wearing 2 coats of Zoya Indigo and one coat of Meteor Shower. As for recs from the line of 50, I think you should try Ginger! It’s pretty and really unique.
Also, the Wizard of Ooh Ahz is already out?!?!

Thanks for the heads up, Keke! I might have to try that, along with Ginger!

It’s lovely, but it looks to be a bit chunky. Almost like sewing sequence onto your nails. I prefer a smoother look for the sparkly bits in my polish.
Christine

It is a chunky polish, but I find most glitter polishes to feel that way!

not bad but the glitter looks really gritty and hard to get off.

I think it took me about two minutes to remove glitter polish off ten fingernails, so it wasn’t a huge deal, IMO!

You know, I’m not a really big fan of glitter, but I like this polish! It looks like something I’d wear going out to a fancy restaurant paired with a few funky accessories.
Hey Christine, do you think you could take one or two pictures from further away wearing the polish? I find that nail polishes can look much different from up close as they do from far away, so I’d like to see if it still looks nice from far away.

Great color! I have something similar from Sally Hansen though without the glitter.

What shade is that, Christy?
Christy
Sunday, November 15, 2009
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Dark Royal Blue. It’s pretty close in color minus the glitter. There are so many glitter top coats available. So I’d pair the one I have with a chunky glitter for something close.

I ordered solar flare, Glam, snow globe, nova, and of course meteor shower. Meteor shower seems to be the one I got I can wear alone, the rest I may wear over a black nail polish or different color because they have clear bases. solar flare has really big pieces of glitter, really shows up on the nail. I could probably put that over a few different color nail polishes. :D

Hey Brittney,
I have! I prefer 8ty8beauty.com myself (slightly cheaper shipping and a bit faster to get to me in California), but I’ve bought once or twice from Head2Toe!
