Benefit Hervana Boxed Powder
Benefit Hervana Boxed Powder

Debuting in January, Benefit Hervana Boxed Powder ($28.00 for 0.28 oz.) is described as a “soft orchid-blossom flush.” It’s made of four individual shades in a pinwheel design, though as far as a blusher goes, you really couldn’t use these shades individually as each shade is fairly small. With a small blush brush, you might be able to use two or three shades in concentration, but I recommend swirling and sweeping all the shades taken together.

Lucky Shell is a soft, pale beige with a satiny shimmer. Divine Peach is a warm apricot-peach with soft golden shimmer. Heavenly Rose is a soft rosy peach with a satiny sheen. Berry Delight is a blue-based ppinky-plum with a satiny sheen. Together, they create a soft, warm pink with subtle peach undertones and a satiny shimmer-sheen. It’s not frosty or over-the-top, so the shimmer adds a distinct glow to the skin and doesn’t emphasize pores. The pigmentation here doesn’t impart loads of color–it’s a soft flush, which seems to be the theme of this particular powder. It has a really soft, smooth texture that sits well on the skin. It wore well for seven hours and looked a little faded around the edges after eight hours.

Chanel Pink Cloud is lighter, while MAC Stunner is more intense. Benefit Bella Bamba is much, much darker and has no peachiness. Burberry Peony is very similar but has more of a matte finish. It also reminded me of MAC Oh So Fair, though that has much more frost in its finish. Benefit Sugarbomb is much more golden with a golden sheen and less pink.

It’s not too warm for cooler complexions to wear it, and I actually think it’s one of those shades that will lean a little cooler/warmer depending on the underlying skintone. For instance, my natural yellowy undertones pull out the peachiness in the product, while someone with pinker undertones may find it turns pinker on them. When I applied it to my cheeks, it also appeared peachier because of the coral lip and olive green eyeshadows I paired it with.

I love the pinwheel design and the blush looks really glowy and natural! wantwantwant!

  2. deana

pretty! your eye makeup is pretty too!

  3. This is the first Benefit Boxed Powder that I’ve really been interested in. I can’t wait to test it out in person. It’s gorgeous, and looks fantastic on you, Christine!

  4. Nathalie

What products have you used on your eyes and lips? It’s such a pretty look πŸ˜€

  5. Jennifer

benefit boxes of powders used to have 11g-12g! they’re downsizing their amount of product yet again :(

    • I believe they went to 0.28 oz. when they rolled out the new packaging – I only think they went down once. From what I understand, it was a decision that was a long time coming.

  6. Carrie Mansfield

That’s lovely and gives you a nice glow :)

  7. Pearl Ng

Hi, can I know what is the lip color you are wearing in this look with Benefit Hervana?

  8. not a fan of the swirled design but the end result looks nice! And heavenly rose by itself is gorgeous – any ideas for dupes of that?

  9. joyce

omg, i think i just fell in love! :)

  10. Justine

    I’m curious about the smell!

I’m interested in it, but do you think it will show up on NC40 skin? I got Bella Bamba from the Project Flawless set and no matter how I tried, the color would not show up, just shimmer… :-(

    • If Bella Bamba isn’t showing up, I don’t think this would – it might highlight, but that’s about it. I’m surprised Bella Bamba wouldn’t, though, because it’s fairly pigmented (as far as Benefit boxed powders go). I don’t have the Project Flawless set so I’m not sure if there were specific issues with it there.

      • L

I’m guessing the one I got was a dud. I tried swatching the regular Bella Bamba (not in the set) in Sephora and I could get the color to show up. The rest of the product in the Project Flawless set I bought performed well though.

Well, I will probably take a look at Hervana when it hit Sephora then. :-)

    • Soph

I was actually able to try this product out before they released it and I’m an NC42 and it does show up! You do need to build it up a little. Hope this helps :)

  12. Mary

This blush looks divine on you Christine! Loving the eyeshadows too! What’s the pretty color you have on your inner corners?

  13. alice

I would love a breakdown of that particular make up look of yours- it’s such a lovely picture of you, the shades you chose and the soft look really suit you!

  14. i like the powder but am not sure if it may beat my beloved bella bamba (hit pan a few days ago – yay!) – are you wearing chanel epatant on your eyes christine? it looks very pretty!!!

  15. This is a “divine” box. I’m will be very tempted to pay the $36(?)CAN for it! It also helps I have uber-pale skin. (been confirmed to be NC5 range >_<)

  16. Z

Wow, that is really quite pretty on you. Very springy and light without being obvious, you know?

  17. I actually got the opportunity to try this out and I love it so much! It looks perfect on my NW20 skin. If you don’t own a benefit boxed powder, I would totally check this one out! Every girl that was with me that tried it, loved it!

  18. Looks so heavenly and gives you such a pretty glow. :-)

  19. Ana G.

So lovely!!First Benefit product that really caught my eye!!

  20. Dawn

This looks so pretty and natural on you! I think this is one I’ll definitely be checking out

  21. In the box, it looks like the demure cousin of Guerlain’s Blush G. Very lovely on you, but since I still have lots left in my Oh So Fair blush, I’m not sure I need this one right away.

Once again, love the gloss you’re wearing (and I know you’ll probably get asked about this 20 times, so I’ll just come back and read through the comments…)

  22. Looks great on you! I wonder if this would be good for my ultra-pale skin? I love the pinwheel design!

  23. Michelle

    Looks gorgeous on you, Christine!

Out of this blush, Bella Bamba, and Sugarbomb, which one would give you the glowiest looking skin without looking like there’s too much shimmer?

  24. ThriftStoreJunkie

In your most honest opinion, would you suggest purchasing this blush for use on Women of Color, medium skintones with yellow undertones (as in the MAC foundation range of NC42 to NC45)?

  25. Lisa S.

This looks like it will do the same as Sugarbomb does for me. It will be a great go-with-any-look flush for my cheeks.

  26. rachael

    The packaging is adorable!

  27. Charito

Very pretty! I love the overall look on you!

  28. Quinctia

Huh, odd they’d go to the trouble of individually naming shades, and then do a swirly design that makes them unlikely to be used as individual blushers. (It’d be difficult but feasible to do that if they split them up into a quad of four squares. Or, don’t give them their own names, since you made a pretty design and named the box!)

  29. Amy

I’m so glad you reviewed this – I may have to put this on my wishlist. The price is more than I’d normally pay for a blush, but my skin seems to really do well with Benefit stuff so… maybe someday!

  30. dom

this is quite pretty! i’m not a blush person but i think this could be my starter blush since it’s so sheer and subtle.

  31. Maureen

    I need this intensely. >:|

  32. Adelita

Oh my God, oh my God, OH MY GOD…!!!
β€œSoft, warm pink with subtle peach undertones and a satiny shimmer-sheen”?
    Must. Have. This!!!

  33. Hi!! I’d love to see a Dallas review! I’ve looked at the entire blog and couldn’t find it!I’d like to know if there’re any dupes! Tk u, luv u :))

  34. Isabela

Christine, I have a question.. are the different color parts big enough that you can use them separately? Does the blush brush fit in just one color, or does it end up packing some of the colors beside it?

  35. The color is very pretty, but I’m focusing on your lips, Christine. You looks great! It’s such a beautiful lip color! I’m loving it! Any dupes for that? Why don’t you just post the looks you’re wearing in the swatches too? so that you don’t have to answer questions about them in the reply section so many times.

It’s so sad to see Benefit cut down the size so much! I first thought only the new ones got a smaller size but I checked their site the other day and I was so disappointed to see that even Dandelion, Sugarbomb, Hoola… are all now 0.28Oz. I know it’s still quite a lot of product, but it’s just a bit disappointing.

  36. Kelsey S

waaaant. i’ve always skipped out on the boxed powders because i find they have too much shine, but this one looks to be everything that i look for in a blush! it looks lovely on you, by the way!

  37. Karina

Wishlisted! Is that a word? Lol.

  38. Jamie

This looks amazing! I’ve been contemplating buying Sugarbomb for a long time now, but have held off and am now considering just waiting for this. Do you have any opinions on which is better or are these two different enough to justify having both?

    • If you’re really pale, you could use both – if you are more medium, you could just get one. Sugarbomb is more of a highlighter, while Hervana gave me some color and has less shimmer (but still some) compared to Sugarbomb. Hervana is also cooler-toned!

  39. cait

how did you get the blush early?

  40. Sarah

So pretty! I can’t wait for this to come out! One question (sorry if this was mentioned already but didn’t see it anywhere) Is this scented like the other boxed powders and if so what kind of scent? Thanks!

  41. Andrea

Do you think Benefit be releasing all of their new boxed powders in the hinged case like that? The only other time I’ve seen that is with a smaller-sized Dandelion. Didn’t even notice the mirror until I looked at the photos again, that’s kind of cute.

  42. Michal

Can you compare it to the Coralista pls? Thanks!

  43. Tiffany

This is the first time in a long time I’ve been really really excited for a product! You mentioned it’s similar to Oh So Fair, which looks really pretty on me… but it sadly LE. So yay!

  44. Haezel

Looks amazing on you! I feel like the color wouldn’t show up on my darker skin tone, though…but the peach really catches m attention. I love peaches! (:

  45. Sophia

Is the colour similar to thrrrob? Because I hate that thrrrob is being discontinued, but this looks like a great alternative! :)

  46. Z

All right. I got it. Blushes are my new obsession and your review and swatches won me over. πŸ˜€

  47. Caroline

WOW, can’t wait to try it when does it come out?

  48. Skeyler

I love the package it’s so cute! And the colors are fabulous!!
I wish i could get this right now.. Does this blush has pearl??

  49. purchased mine lastnight via Sephora! :)

  50. Mary

just ordered this!! Temptalia you got me again to buy! Love this Christine!

  51. sarah

this looks awesome on you! i need this now lol

  52. cathy

what’s a good benefot lipstick to pair with hervana?i’m asian medium skintone.thanks christine!

  53. Hillary

Wow. I just got Hervana in the mail today (and I live on the west coast – go sephora!) and I think it might just be my HG powder blush. It is gorgeous and pretty much exactly mimics my natural flush.

  54. Manuela

Which one would you recommend the most: hervana or sugarbomb?

  55. Lisa

I really appreciate the photos you take and enjoy all your great looks. You are so creative and very pretty!

  56. Rita

Love this look on you, you look gorgeous! I now want to buy both Hervana AND the Clarins lipstick πŸ˜›

  57. Tracy

WOW !! This is a “my cheeks but better” natural blush ! I get very pale during winter and it’s perfect on my complexion ! I wonder what it will look like in my summer intense tanned skin color ! Worth it, even if I don’t get why the crazy markup price in Canada, 36$ compared to 28 ?!! I’m not one to complain about prices, but come on !

  58. Jennifer M.

I saw this at Sephora 2 days ago while testing Dandelion out. This is going to be mt 1st Benefit blush. I’m getting it next trip. (had to splurge on the 2 new Mac collections 1st). I’m a nw20 and it was a gorgeous mauvey color on me. I’ve never been tempted by their blushes but this is so pretty. I’m a product of the 80’s and am overcoming my too bright of blush habit. It would be hard to go heavy handed with this so I don’t need to worry about using too much color. :)

  59. Lucy

I saw this on the benefit website when they had a flash sale, and I died. Then I swatched it in store, and I died again. I need this, although my wallet doesn’t… it looks so pretty and natural, could compliment so many skintones. love it!

  60. Miss J

I need this in my life, yup! I wasn’t too into it right away because I own two Benefit boxed powders (Dandelion & Georgia), and neither show up on me well enough. This one looks like it’d be like a nice, soft, girly pink sheen, though!

Do you find Sugarbomb to be more peach on you, btw?

  61. Stephy

Can we build up the blush to make it looks darker?
It looks beautiful and I love your makeup!

  62. Nuria

Looks gorgeous on you! Very pretty <3

  63. Nancy

What brush and application method do you use with this, Christine?

  64. Lauren

how does this compare to mac’s well dressed or pink swoon? is it at cool as those?
