Zoya Astra Nail Polish Review, Photos, Swatches
Zoya Astra Nail Polish ($7.00) is one of three shades of Ultra Glitter. Astra has a warm-toned pink jelly base with deeper red small, square glitter mixed in. It’s very sparkly and fun, but I kind of wish it had a more opaque base. I never thought I’d be such a fan of glitter polishes, but they’re such a nice way to add punch to your wardrobe without feeling like it’s ever too much. Zoya’s formula is always tops, and I always get great wear whenever I use their polish and Color Lock System (which is my go-to base/top/drying coat system).
Zoya also includes something I think is really handy on their website:
Tone: Warm
Finish: Glitter
Color Family: Pinks
Intensity: 3 (1= Very Sheer to 5= Very Opaque)
Original Collection: Ultra Glitter
I just think it’s informative, and it just shows that this isn’t designed to be ultra opaque but somewhere in-between sheer and opaque. I like that they let you know whether the shade runs cool or warm, because sometimes if you can’t buy in person, every extra detail they give you helps you make a better decision about whether to buy or not.
I didn’t find it too difficult to remove either, which is often a problem with glitter polishes. It’s not as quick and easy as a typical polish, but it really didn’t bother me or make me groan either. I always soak a cotton pad in remover, gently press against the nail, then I do the same for the others, and finally go back and start removing.

That is so pretty! Sadly, I have no idea where to get Zoya in Canada.
I wish I knew 🙁 I want to say they aren’t available (I think I remember someone Canadian saying exactly that).
Time to pass on the news =) I asked the exact same question. If you are in Toronto ON, try Trade Secrets. I think other provinces have this store as well. Good luck!
YAY! Thanks for sharing!
Oh, I love Trade Secrets! I still have my card that I need to trade in for the 10% off card. (I actually prefer the points system though because of the double points on Tuesdays and the free gift cards) Heheh, another reason to go shopping 🙂
If you are on the west coast, try Escents Aromatherapy. They have a small selection there.
That does look like a very nice shade for the holidays.
I completely agree 😀
very pretty! i’m wearing astra right now and i’m 100% in love – so vivid and sparkly! it’s totally opaque on me though, and i only did 3 coats (which is pretty normal for me; i do 2-3 coats of most polishes)…
Aww, yay! It’s still a bit sheer on me – don’t get me wrong, it’s definitely not a sheer. I’d agree with what Zoya marks it as – a 3 on a 5 point scale of opacity for me.
That’s pretty. I’m going to get it. Love.
Yay! Glad you liked it, Sass!
I think for glitter polishes I like the glitter polishes from Deborah Lippman that you have shown. As for Zoya polishes, if you are in Vancouver they carry a small selection at Wink in Gastown on Water Street and Carall Street. I have also seen it in a small store on Commercial Drive, but unfortunately I don’t remember which store.
They’re all fun to me, but I definitely dig Lippmann’s mix of shapes and sizes for glitter, too.
I see it’s all about the glitter eveywhere these days 🙁
Aww, no love for glitter? I like it just because it’s like a party on my nails, LOL.
