Just in time for the holiday season, YSL debuted two new formulas! The first is ($39.00 for 0.07 oz.), which is available in 12 shades and comes in a slim-style bullet. It’s supposed to have a “glowing matte finish.”

The second is ($38.00 for 0.20 oz.), which is available in 10 shades and is supposed to have “high-shine, long-lasting color” with a “glowing finish.”

Light Medium, Yellow, slight yellow undertones. Normal-to-Dry skin.

HOW did the Water Glow Glossy Stains even make it out of the lab?! My jaw dropped when I saw how they applied, particularly the two darkest shades.

I do not see value in terms of colour or finish for my tastes. I’m underwhelmed.

Hmmm… I’m not sure about these new formulations from these swatches. I did see that there were steep discounts on the Rouge Volupte Shine and some of the Glossy Stains on their website and debated picking up a few. Those formulas are wonderful!

Yikes. Not hitting it with the dark colors in either formula.

I’m just not feeling these. Most of the Water Glow’s look patchy, uneven and just yucky. The Slim Glow Mattes only have one shade I am even remotely interested in, Transgressive Cacao. And that’s just a small “maybe”.

Those water glossy stains (whatever they are) look pretty average for such fancy names…I do find that YSL has vibrant lipsticks shades – and I am particularly liking Transgressive Cacao, Insurgent Red and the Chili shade.

Not sure why YSL added a matte formula to their existing slim-style bullet lipsticks, when they could have just expended the colour range of the existing slim line. I have no. 12 (Nu Incongru) in the existing slim line, and the formula feels and looks almost matte (it is comfortable though). Also, YSL already has the Rouge Pur Couture the Mats.

I love these (the square lipsticks are especially pleasing to look at), but I’ve always loated YSL’s heavily fragranced products. I’ll read your future review to see if it’s included this time too, but these will probably be a pass.
