YSL Beauty Holiday 2008 The Bow Collection
“One should always be tempted to untie a woman’s clothes” – Yves Saint Laurent
A symbol of femininity and the love that Monsieur Yves Saint Laurent had for women, the bow — be it demure or sexy, a velvet loop or a satin tie — has woven its way through his collections. Here, gracefully placed at the small of the back. There, tied around the neck in a protective, airy gesture to veil a lovely décolleté in transparent chiffon. Or just there, on the hip to highlight the endless length of a leg.
For the 2008 year-end holidays, the BOW COLLECTION reinterprets the symbol and pays tribute to the Couturier. With a look created by Val Garland, the sparkling, mischievous eyes of Coco Rocha are hidden behind a thick fringe of hair and her laughing lips are defined with an intense, plumping lipstick.
THE BOW COLLECTION, festive and colorful, unveils four Limited Edition, “must-have” accessories — Palette Duo Pour Les Levres, Palette de Maquillage Mutli-usage, Fard a Paupieres 4 Couleurs, and Touche d’Or pen-brush – as well as a new Golden Gloss, Fard a Levres Rouge Pur, and La Laque shades.

A matte gold butterfly adorned with a sparkling bow, this sumptuous compact is the absolute “must-have” of the collection. It opens its wings to reveal two festive lip colors.
The raspberry red is a rich, fabulously fruity shade with the same satiny finish as FARD À LÈVRES ROUGE PUR. The more tender pink gloss gives the lips an iridescent finish with a subtle shine. It can be used alone during the day or as a top coat for a more sustained effect at night. It has the same delicious mango scent as Golden Gloss.
With its small mirror and applicator brush, PALETTE DUO POUR LES LÈVRES is perfect for touch-ups anywhere and everywhere, for flawless lips day and night. With its twisted black cord, it will elegantly accessorize a handbag or belt.
A much coveted item, this black velvet clutch with a black satin bow holds an essential, round-the-clock palette of make-up essentials defined by Val Garland. Five shades of multi-use make-up that take you from daytime beauty to night time seduction in the blink of an eye.
Side-by-side, two eye shadows — a matte black to shade or outline the eyes, accompanied by a deep yet shimmering, metallic midnight blue. In the middle is a pearly beige highlighter, ideal for softening the shadows or accentuating the cheekbones. For lips, a dazzling pink is paired with a gloss with silver sparkles. Complete with a wide mirror and two applicators, one with two foam tips for eyes and a precision brush for lips, this precious pouch is perfect under all circumstances.
A chiaroscuro harmony of four colors for endless variations on the “smoky eyes” theme. Soft tones of Rosy Grey and Tender Pink create a subtle daytime effect while the deeper shades of Purple and Brown only come out at night. They can be used alone or blended together, thanks to their soft, extremely easy to work with texture.
The final touch that turns any make-up into a beautiful, chic holiday look, this frosted gold pen-brush releases an iridescent, luminous veil of golden peach on the face. Its ultra-light texture blends with the skin and gives it a silky touch. The formula contains gold mother-of-pearl particles that catch the light in complete transparency.
TOUCHE D’OR is brushed on the cheekbones, lips, shoulders and décolleté to give a shimmering highlight. Combined with the eye shadows, lipsticks and glosses in THE BOW COLLECTION, it glorifies the color. It can also be used for a touch-up as midnight strikes for a flash of beauty that’s as discreet as it is refined.
GOLDEN GLOSS boasts a superb new shade, n 16 – Golden Burgundy, the shiny, sensual red of wine, compliments smoky eyes to perfection. It has a mirror-like shine sprinkled with golden mother-of-pearl particles combined with 24-karat gold dust. The formula is enriched with a complex of Nigella and Camelina oils that nourish and protect, making it a precious companion for delicate lips.
A genuine feat of color, as well as divine care for the lips with its all-day moisturizing power, FARD À LÈVRES ROUGE PUR celebrates the year-end holidays with a new nude shade: n 142 – Honey Beige. A deep, ultra-natural caramel that sheathes the lips in a delightful veil.
LA LAQUE reveals new facets to be applied as a color duo or solo: n 37 –
Deep Blue and n 38 – Moonlight White, a genuine nail perfector that gives them an instant shine and impeccably polished finish.
For a French Manicure with contemporary sophistication, apply Moonlight White on the entire base of the nails and a half-moon of Deep Blue on the tips.

I can’t wait to see it in person 🙂
Christine – would you know if the YSL’s black gloss will be available at dept stores? Thanks!
I’m not sure. I think it may be coming to some, but not all. Call yours! It’s up on the YSL site, though.
I dont even wanna look LOL
Haha!
omg, this collection does exist! what i meant was that back in august or was it July, a seller on ebay put out the bow collection lip palette, and I thought it’s fake despite the self taken picture, not the stock one.
this palette looks like the texture of mother pearl – the trend of 2008 holiday? I hope the collection is good in “person” as they are in pictures.
Thanks for telling us!
Yep, it does 🙂 I’m so glad it was real!
