I haven’t considered it, but I imagine I might consider it in ten years. But then I don’t know if I’d ever go through with it!

Thanks to Dusty for this question!

I have thought of the many imperfections I will have as I get older (I’m 18) but I honestly have never considered cosmetic surgery to fix them. I will do all in my power to fight aging, from certain foods to routines and creams, just not surgery. (Great question btw Christine)

I’m not there yet… so I don’t think I can answer that question. I think it depends. I don’t think I’d get it for little things, and I would rather age gracefully than try to fight it so much, so I’m already using sunblock religiously and I plan on adding some anti-aging skincare when I turn 30 or so. If my cheeks get seriously saggy I might consider it… but seeing how my mom is doing now, I don’t think I’ll have to worry about that LOL.

I can’t say that I would never consider it, but there is definitely a limit to how far I’d go. I don’t ever want to become obsessed with my appearance, or drastically reducing the effects of aging; I don’t ever want to look plastic. I’d be more likely to go for minor procedures, like micro-dermabrasion. My biggest cosmetic concern on my face is my eyelids, though, and that would require surgery to fix. I’m only 24, so that’s a long way off, but droopy lids seem to run on my mom’s side, and it really can make a person look less awake and fresh (not to mention severely impede makeup creativity!). My lids are far from droopy, but I guess I’ll have to cross that bridge when I get to it. I will definitely get a breast lift, though (not augmentation, just excess skin removal). But that’s the only cosmetic surgery I’ll ever have done to my body.

I think aging is beautiful, you can’t fight it. You can though help how you age by living a healthy lifestyle. But i think it’s a beautiful natural thing and i think more people should embrace it.

Yap.
It’s a part of a complex – nutrition, plastic surgery, sports,positive thinking,etc.

Without plastic surgery (in moderate, yet sufficient amounts, all efforts to stay young healthy and active (and appealing) are NOT efficient and give “0” results.)

Plastic surgery saved my life and allowed me to follow my dreams and to become a professional in the field I wanted, and that was for who I am,not who I “was trying to be”, and without it it would have NEVER happened.

Those who are for NO reason against other people getting cosmetic surgery have no idea what they’re talking about. They’re not qualified and try to influence the minds of others with no professional background. That’s imho very sad.

Now plastic surgery (as the industry on the whole) has become my hobby and I monitor all the know-hows and progress in this sector. It’s very interesting.

I think a lot of people are not interested in cosmetic surgery for themselves, but don’t care if other people do it. I mean, I look at the people in Hollywood who get tons of plastic surgery — and lets face it, after a while they look down right scary. I just don’t want to do that to myself. There has to be a balance there. And people have died from plastic surgery — it’s just a fact. To each their own. It’s not my thing — but I don’t care if other people decide to have a procedure. You have to do what is right for you — and for me, that is not going under the knife.

I’d always said I wanted to age naturally but I’m turning 43 this year and while I look OK overall, I have very heavy hooded upper eyelids. It’s genetic, there’s nothing I could’ve done when I was younger to prevent them. I keep thinking about getting them tucked as I think they make me look grumpy and they pretty much totally cover up my eyeshadow. I don’t know tho’, do I really want to cut up perfectly healthy skin? I’m still thinking about it.

I have no problems with aging and wrinkles. I use a lot of skin products and SPF to keep my skin healthy- so when I do age, it will be natural. And my wrinkles won’t be from sun damage, but from a life well lived.

I’m 61 but I’ve always taken good care of my skin. I’m only just now beginning to consider getting a bit of professional help for a few of the things that bother me: wrinkles around my lips (never a smoker, but used to be a whistler), some broken cappellaries around my nose, some age spots on my cheeks. I would never consider going “under the knife” and don’t really think it’s necessary if you take good care of your skin, BUT we all reach that point when the lotions and potions just don’t do their job as effectively. That’s when it’s nice to know a good dermatologist.

I’m 37 and definitely starting to see lines around my eyes and on my forehead. I like them. They are a testament to a life well-lived. I can see doing non-invasive procedures such as photo laser or microdermabrasion but, for me, draw the line at adding substances (Botox, Restylane) or surgery.

I think the only things I would do are:

* Surgery to fix sagging, hooded upper eyelids. They’re fine right now but I can see them sagging with time. I would get the surgery because the sagging can get uncomfortable – sometimes I feel them even now when I’m really tired.

* Laser resurfacing for age spots / brown spots to get an even skin tone.

I’m 33 (nearly 34), so not old yet, and I can honestly say that I have never considered having cosmetic surgery. I might consider Botox or something similarly non-surgical, but to go under the knife just to look better – no! I was terrified of the possibility of having a Ceasarian when I was pregnant, and thankfully I avoided it all 3 times, so there is no way that I would volunterily have surgery if it wasn’t for health reasons.

Im not against it for people with alot of droopy eyelids or just something that they cant stand about themselves. I dont mean if your nose is slightly large or whatever. I mean if you are like 50s and just are almost depressed when you look in the mirror, because that is affecting your quality of life. Not everyone is like that though but some people are, so if they want a little help and have the means to do it, you shouldn’t judge. With that said I don’t agree with looking like anyone than who you were created to be. Restoring is not the same as changing.

aradhana Avatar

i have never considered it, and don’t think i ever would…i can’t say that i love everything about my face/body — in reference to a previous post asking us about our favourite facial feature, i really didn’t particularly like any! when i look at people like my grandmother, i can’t help but think she’s aged gracefully and would just take care of myself hope and i do the same.

Christy Avatar

Possibly in the future. My mom has freckles all over her face that developed with age, so I imagine when I get to around her age, I’ll probably go have a procedure to remove them. I’m hoping that lots of sunscreen and a hat will prevent that. =)

Stacey Avatar

Probably, barring any possible steps forward in the time that it take me to get to an age to really worry about it. My mom has very hooded, heavy eyelids now that practically rest on her eyelashes. I have the same face shape she had at my age, so I’m anticipating that I’ll have the same issues. That’s pretty much all I’d have done, though.

Charlene Avatar

At 44 the fine lines are catching up. I might consider the least harmful way to diminish them if I had the $. Definitely would do my hood as that is a family problem and tends to droop over the eye and impairing vision.

Haylie Avatar

I’m sure everyone has thought about it, myself included but I don’t think it’s the right thing to do unless you have some medical problem. Aging is natural and you shouldn’t fight it. I think going under the knife is too extreme and our society is being too focused on how we physically look.

I don’t care how many wrinkles I have when I’m 70, I won’t be that focused on how I look. I’ll be enjoying life, like we all should. And not on how much money this or that plastic surgery will be.

I mean look at Heidi Montag. She’s 23 and went psycho on the surgery. Imagine what she’s gonna look like in ten years…*shudder* More importantly, think of what that money could of gone too. (hint hint maybe the country that just recently lost everything? literally)

Rowan Avatar

I think that plastic surgery has become more and more accepted in America, and now it’s almost totally normal. I think that people should age naturally the way nature intended them. Flaws are what make us beautiful, though it sounds cliche and you might not ever truly believe it, but plastic surgery is in my mind a really awful thing. Of course I respect that it is everyones personal decision, just not a choice I would EVER make.

CeeBee Avatar

No. I do want to look good for my age but no one is putting a scalpel or needle anywhere near my face.
I know I’m gonna get line and wrinkles and things are going to droop and sag eventually but I’m not too worried about it – I don’t see it as a flaw.

If people want to get their nose done or their brows lifted or soemthing to feel better about themselves, it certainly doesn’t bother me.
But on the other hand there’s certainly plenty of evidence of botched jobs and some very plastic looking people out there – it makes me sad to see people distort themselves so painfully to meet some arbitrary ideal of “beauty”.
And I don’t subscribe to the idea that youth necessarily equals beauty!

Jennifer Avatar

No! I find Cosmetic Surgery just makes you look older or tells people “Oh she has cosmetic surgery.” It depends the procedure, but most of the time it looks unnatural.

Besides your hands will always give your age away.

Just stick to taking care of your face with products… Don’t go under the knife, you could end up looking worse than before.

Karli Avatar

I shouldn’t really be in a position to say (being 15 and all), but I already have an answer for you. Because I’ve already thought about it.
(I know I’m too young to think about it. But long story short, I was born with EDS. Which basically means my body doesn’t make collagen. One of the side effects being, I will be a wrinkled mess before I turn 30.)

That being said, I would absolutely get cosmetic surgery to fight my extremely early aging.
In fact, I plan on it.

Each to their own! I’m only 20 years old, but dont have a prominent jawline, so I feel the skin around my mouth area is alittle looser then I’d like. I would like it to look more flat and tight against my face, but I only have minor lines from that. I find Chanel moisturiser has helped alot with this, plumping out my skin and making it look tighter – so I’ve ditched my want for Botox (for now). But I would like to know more of the side effects of Botox before getting it in the future (as I would when more lines start to show).

Sebastien Avatar

Yes! I’m only 23, but if I had the money, I’d have it now! I’d like canthopexy, a small upper eye lift just on the outer corners, a minor nose job to smooth out the bridge, my ears pinned back, a bit of fat suctioning from my cheeks to give a more chiseled look, and my chin evened out, as one side is a bit bigger than the other… That’s it though!I’d combat aging and make myself look much better. :)Haha.

Sarah B Avatar

no no no…i would never get cosmetic surgery unless i was in an accident and required it to fix my face (or whatever part). There are facial features that some might consider less than ideal…sometimes i could wish my chin was a little tighter and more defined…but all my aunts have a similar chin, it reminds me of them when i look in a mirror. I could wish my eyes didnt wrinkle in such a way, but that reminds me of my mom when she smiles…my point is when I look at myself in the mirror i see what someone else might call a flaw as something that makes me closer to my family and i would never change that. Plus I think there are MANY better ways to spend the money

Sable Avatar

Im not going to lie, I’m going to try and age as gracefully as I can and when it gets to the point when I may need it I will probably get plastic surgery. I don’t think theres anything wrong with it as long as you do your research and do it tastefully. Like only touch-ups. I’m not going to strive to look 21 again when I’m like 65, but it’d be nice if I’d look like I was in my 50s again. Then again I’m only 21 now, so younever know what could happen. I could change my mind and not get any.

civa Avatar

Probably not surgery. I feel by going for surgery is in a way kind of saying I can’t fight it anymore so I’ll have to have someone do something to me. And also not accepting the nature of aging.
Honestly I don’t mind aging that much. It’s natural and there’s a beauty in aging.
I’d probably care more of how healthy I am and what life style I’m living stuff like that.
I believe when you feel good about your inside you will shine on the outside.
But if you do feel you need something from the outside to lift you up on the inside then it’s your call.

J Avatar

I would like a breast lift later on in life, and something to fix my hooded lids. I’m only 19 and they already obscure so much of my eyeshadow, and i hated it. Also, some lipo wouldnt go astray…. 😛
