Where do you apply your makeup?

There’s a bonus room that connects the main hallway to the guest bedroom, and this is the space I use for my makeup room, which contains long-term storage and my vanity–the vanity is where I sit down to do my makeup!

I always did it in a well lit bathroom but since recently moving, it’s been in my bedroom with a really good makeup mirror! Standing up – I’ve never done make up in almost 50 years of wearing it while sitting down.

In my bathroom, although I store all my make-up in a dresser in my bedroom. I’m a careless/messy make-up applicator and I do like using my fingers for foundation and concealer, so I need a sink close to wash my hands. And all the powder fallout is easier to clean.

I have a vanity with stick on LED lights in my bedroom. I have an adjacent rolling cart that is my makeup storage. I plan on changing out the cart for something sturdier.

I sit on my bed and put it on. I hold a big mirror in one hand and apply with the other. I have a very small apartment with a super tiny bathroom, so the bedroom works best and has the best lighting.

In the corner of my bedroom, and I really, really hate it. But that’s the only place I could carve out a little spot for a table, mirror, and lights. I miss my dedicated makeup room so very much. My bedroom doesn’t have as much natural light. We did move my bar of full spectrum lights in, but the room lighting still sucks. My husband is going to install a new light fixture, and probably add some more lighting in that corner. It’s also more cramped and not as easy to access everything. There’s nothing I can do about it now.

Once we pay off the new roof, we may jettison the idea of visiting Australia and see if we can add on to the house. IDK.

Same exact thing here except that I do it in front of a magnifying mirror that extends out from the wall. The mirror has lighting that I can use in combination with natural lighting that comes through the windows. Many times I don’t light the mirror at all.

Before I had kids, I’d take my time in the master bath. I would spend anywhere from 30-60 minutes on my makeup. I loved it! Since kids, I apply in 1-2 places depending on time allowances. I always start in the kids bathroom, between waking them up. If I’m having a particularly good day, everyone is on time and easy going, I’ll finish in the bathroom. On a typical day, someone is having a fit for something (tired still, hungry, etc.), so I usually don’t finish until the car. I get most done in the bathroom though.

The bathroom on the main floor of our house. When we first moved to this house our kids lived at home. They used the upstairs bathroom. The bathroom that is attached to our bedroom doesn’t have a door so I couldn’t use it (when I worked I got up at 5 in the morning and I didn’t want to disturb my husband). In the hallway beside the main floor bathroom I have a large cabinet that I store all my make up and hair tools in.

I feel like I am very lucky because I have an extremely handy, generous and talented husband who saw that I was struggling to find a space to get ready. He first built me a vanity/desk that is quite a decent size. He then built me two small cabinets based on the Ikea style that so many people seem to use on YouTube ( he built some for himself for fly fish tying and my daughter some for College, too). Then he built me a beautiful cabinet that looks like something you would find at a nice furniture store. I store thing like skincare products, palettes that I am not able to fit in the drawers of the smaller cabinets, and other miscellaneous things. He is currently finishing up on a lighted mirror for the vanity because he thought that he could make something nicer and have better lighting than the mirror I am currently using. I am so grateful to him for all of these things that he has made for me. He says that he loves the challenge of trying to build quality things. All of this furniture is set up in our oversized master bedroom. We have a master bathroom right next to my setup.
Before all of this furniture, I used to stand in front of a dinky mirror in the guest bathroom or standing in front of the closet door mirror with a basket of stuff next to me on a stool. I definitely got an upgrade!

In my living room, actually! It has good lighting-depending on time of day, either natural lighting or I sit between two lamps. I bought a styling cape at Sally Beauty and wear it to catch any spills or fallout.

We have a 3-bedroom home with no kids, so my husband and I each have a room to our own. I use mine for crafting, reading, and makeup. I use a computer desk with shelves as a vanity. It sits in front of a window so I can get natural lighting in addition to my lighted makeup mirror.

I guess I’m the weirdo here as my desk in the family room is where I store my makeup and apply it.
Right behind and over my iMac is a hutch with shelves – this houses my seasonal rotation of makeup products. I have a hand mirror and a SimpleHuman lighted stand mirror stored there also. The light in the family room is so much better than either of the bathrooms or my bedroom. I can also play Youtube videos while I put on my makeup at my desk!

I’m probably the weird one here, but the most used of my collection is downstairs in my living room. I keep it in a side table that has 2 drawers and I get ready on the couch with a TV tray and lighted mirror! I like to sit downstairs, watch TV and hang out with my husband and doggie while getting ready. I’ve done that as long as I’ve been married because I wanted to have the TV on while getting ready and was too broke to have a second TV in my bedroom or an iPad or smart phone when I first got married to watch anything on. The habit never broke. I fix a cup of coffee and just get ready in the living room lol!

In a spare bedroom that’s been turned into my office/studio. It has a big ol’ (monstorus!) 50’s era steel drafting table that I use like a desk (supports my laptop, monitor, etc.); it’s big enough to use one side as a storage area for my lip products, with a wood shelf above that supports my makeup mirror. Directly in front of the table, to my right, is a rolling drawer unit that has the rest of my makeup.

I have a vanity table that is in the walk-in closet off our master bedroom. Luckily the closet is huge, so I have plenty of space to sit and get ready. I have a 3 drawer cart beside my vanity to hold all my extra things, as well as Q-tips, sponges, etc. My makeup mirror is a cordless rose gold colored one I found on Amazon, because there are no outlets nearby.
