MAC Peaches with Mary Lou Manizer layered on top and MAC Modern Mandarin!
I’m also loving MAC Modern Mandarin!
not a blush but a bronzer, milani baked bronzer in glow. makes my face look all glowly
I just bought Guerlain Terracota Liquid Luminizer in Sunny Pink and I use for a subtle daytime look. My other favorite is the normal Guerlain blush…forgot the name if it though :/
NARS orgasm, but I have to have guerlain terracotta sun in the city as a highlight with it!
i prefer cream blushes for summer. love hourglass cheek stain in flushed
MAC Modern Mandarin or Tom Ford Wicked
so far this summer it’s been MAC hipness or benefit sugarbomb! i’ve used benefit hervana for a softer look too.
Tarte Glisten and Benefit Bella Bamba + Coralista !!
I rotate my blushes pretty routinely season to season, but I’m willing to throw on bolder more often in the summer since I’m not quite as ghostly pale then. I’ve been loving Revlon’s cream blush in Flushed and Benefit’s Bella Bamba lately.
I always forget about Benefit Bella Bamba – I might have to pull that out today!
I grabbed the sample size from Sephora because I wasn’t sure how such a deep coral would wear on my cooler toned skin. I’m genuinely impressed at how pretty it looks! Definitely a keeper in my collection. 😀
NARS’ Torrid combined with my new love, Luster, as a highlighter on top. Those people for whom Orgasm barely shows up should really consider Torrid. And Luster with its sheer gold/gold peach shimmer is really to die for. It turns my look/foundation into “my skin but better.” It’s so lovely, my fashionista mother went out and bought it for herself the very next day after seeing it!
For something with some sheen/sparkle I opt for NARS Luster, but if I want a matte then Gilda. Those are probably my two favorites for summer. I also love to wear Gina and Taos for summer, too.
@Miss J, Gilda is high on my list of blushes that I want. Very high. I’m also considering Gina. May I ask what your skin colouring is and what sort of look Gina gives you?
@Kafka @Miss Hey, Kafka. I have a light-medium olive skin tone. I usually mix two foundations to get my exact shade. I’m using #32 in MUFE Face & Body for the moment. In HD I mix #117 and #123 except for when I have enough color to use 123 alone. I think you get the drift (light-medium to medium olive/olive-beige), lol. Gina comes off as a soft, sorbet peach/orange on me. I get a hint of the color, but it’s mostly just sort of a warm glow. Gilda is a little brighter, and has more of a pink/red coral feel. I love both, but I’ll admit I kind of forgot about Gina after I purchased Gilda. Hope this info helps! 🙂
@Miss J, no, it doesn’t help because I still want them BOTH! LOL. ;P I kid, I kid. It really does help, esp. because I think we have very similar skin tone, so it’s good to hear it gives you a warm glow as opposed to malaria sallowness. (Normally, I’m a wee bit lighter than MUFE 127. 123 is far too dark on me but you mix it with 117 so I think we might be pretty close!) My concern was that Gina would bring out the yellow in my skin but I’m entranced by the colour. And the fact that you call it a soft sorbet peach/orange bodes really well and makes me happy. But I keep hearing (and from online swatches, seeing) “tangerine.” I hope it’s not as bright as that given my yellow undertones! As for Gilda, yep, still almost at the top of my Must Have Blush List which is entirely NARS, btw. (I swear, this NARS blush thing is some sort of sickness and addiction. LOL). What you’ve said confirms my feeling that it is a much more practical, daily shade. Not that that’s stopping me from wanting Gina as well. Heh. Again, a huge, huge thank you for your insight and guidance!
@Kafka @Miss Yes, I believe we are around the same skin tone! I might actually be a little lighter, possibly. I’ve never tried 127, so I might check that out. My coloring is a pain because my tone fluctuates very easily. I get rather pale in winter, but the undertone is still strong, so mixing seems to be my best option. Gotta love my Sicilian mom and my Irish/German dad for the coloring issues! 😛 The 32 in the F&B is suggested for those who wear HD in 127 and 123, so I’m betting we are pretty close in tone if not the same. As for Gina being Tangerine…it’s called that on NARS’ own site, and I’ve heard it referred as that, but it just doesn’t come off that way on me. It might sound weird, but it feels more like bronzer to me, not because of the tone, but because of the effect, I guess. It gives that warmth of bronzer and then that little added peachy glow, as if you got a little extra color, but I don’t ever feel like holy shit my cheeks are tangerine. LOL. I feel it looks a bit odd on me when I’m paler, but for summer it’s a great one. I feel you on NARS blush being a sickness. My blush collection is predominantly NARS, and I feel no urge to branch out at the moment. I believe I have around 14 or 15. Oy.
@Miss J, you’re an angel! Thank you! If you have the time, could you perhaps help me with a few more blush questions? I’m sorry to be a pest but online photos are hopeless in terms of lighting and the swatch colours skew all over the place. Plus, few of the bloggers who cover NARS in any detail have our skin colouring and a number of the blushes I want aren’t carried in the Sephora near me so I can’t see them in person. So, I’m trying to decide between Lokoum, Sin, Amour, & the now-discontinued Crazed (assuming it pops up on eBay again and I don’t lose the bid this time). I want at least 2 of them and I’d prefer a raspberry-ish something. I’m assuming Montenegro will be too dark, even when sheered out? So, out of those 4, which do you like better? Which one would not be too much on skin that can get even paler than 127 in winter but also, would show up on tanned/MUFE 155 skin in summer? Thus far, my collection (and oh, how I envy you yours!) includes: Angelika, Desire, Torrid, Orgasm, Super Orgasm (just won on eBay), Copacabana (same), Cactus Flower, Luster and Laguna. Another question: given what I have and my plans to get Gilda & Gina, would Deep Throat, Lovejoy or Mata Hari be redundant? I have to try to narrow this list down as this is getting a bit crazy even for me. (Did I mention that I also plan to get Albatross and am contemplating Penny Lane?) I tell you, it’s a sickness. Help me! 😀
@Kafka @Miss You’re not being a pest, and it’s definitely no problem at all! I’m in the midwest, so I know what it’s like not to be able to see and test products in person. It’s a huge pain, so I’m always happy to help other beauty loving girls and guys out.
Out of the Lokoum, Sin, Amour, and Crazed my favorite is Sin. It’s not a raspberry, but it’s sort of a pink/mauve berry with some golden microshimmer. It’s gorgeous, and it works when I’m super pale, as well as when I’m very tan. Crazed is more of a raspberry, but much bolder, and a lot more red-pink tones. It’s a fun color, but needs to be applied very, very lightly, and for me was a little too much, so I passed on it. Amour is similar to Orgasm in that it’s a bright, warm pink. I like it…I bought it mainly to have that sort of warm pink shade in a matte version, but once I bought Gilda it became neglected. They aren’t overly similar since Gilda is more coral, but it took the place of Amour as an everyday blush, so it’s just not as loved. I’ve never tried Lokoum, but I hear it’s almost identical to Taos, which is sort of a slightly burnt coral-rose. If I were picking two out of that list, I’d personally go for Sin and Lokoum. Both look great when I’m pale and very tan.
As for Deep Throat, Lovejoy, or Mata Hari being redundant…
I don’t find Lovejoy similar to anything you own from NARS already. This is one that never worked for me, personally. It tends to look too ruddy, and I just found it blah, so I passed. Mata Hari is a very cool, vivid, rose. It has that sort of lavender-pink feel. It’s closer to Angelika in tone than Desire…while it might not exactly be redundant to have all three, I only find them to have slight differences, and ended up preferring Desire the most since it’s a cool, bright pink, but it doesn’t come off oddly on my warm skin, nor does it enhance the golden/olive, which Mata Hari did a bit. Deep Throat was my first NARS blush, so I’m partial to it. It’s a softer, pinky-peach with some gold flecks. It’s softer than Torrid, not nearly as orange. Orgasm and Amour come off with more pink to me, and are brighter. Gina and Gilda don’t really compare much to Deep Throat. It’s a soft, babydoll, yellow-pink. I don’t find it exactly redundant, but what happened with me is once I started having a few in the same color family, I would find the one I preferred and then the others would sort of become obsolete.
NARS collection of cheek products thus far: Laguna, Riviera Multiple, Albatross, Deep Throat, Orgasm, Amour, Gilda, Gina, Taj Mahal, Exhibit A, Taos, Desire, Mata Hari, Dolce Vita, Sin, Madly, Luster, and a heaping sample of Torrid. Laguna is my regular bronzer. Albatross is pretty, but I have MAC Vanilla Pigment, which I could have lived with that as a higlight. Albatross just comes off a little more golden. Deep Throat and Gilda get the most year round use from me. Madly is super subtle, but it’s a warm, soft, seashell pink, which I don’t tend to wear when I’m pale unless with a dark or smokey eye, but I love it when I’m tan because it will show up as a glow rather than much of a color. You have Luster, so I’m sure you are aware that one is a stunner, lol. Out of the ones I own, while I think they are pretty, I probably wouldn’t repurchase Orgasm, Amour, Taj Mahal, Mata Hari, or Dolce Vita if I ever ran out of them.
WOW. Insanely long, but hopefully helpful! If you have any more questions feel free to ask. P.S. – On a totally random note, my dog is gnawing at my knee as I type, LOL.
Miss J, if you were here right now, I’d kiss you! And then do it a few more times. My God, you’re a lifesaver. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Most important question first: what kind of dog? 😀
Sin and Lokoum were totally at the TOP of my list, so I’m really glad that they are your top recommendations. I had always considered Deep Throat but a lot of people (including Christine I think) had commented that it was paler or less intense than Orgasm. Others (like on Makeupalley) though recommend Deep Throat if Orgasm doesn’t show up on you. As if it were brighter and more intense! It’s thoroughly confusing and contradictory!! With some work, I can get Orgasm to show up on me — though it doesn’t show up at ALL on either my mother or sister — so since everyone said D/T was an Orgasm substitute, I gave up on it. Now though, I think I need to take a 2nd look. Except Orgasm is mostly peach on me, not really pink. Okay, peach-pink but tending towards peach, so it makes me wonder about Deep Throat. So confusing.
The redundancy part of my comment really applied to my general collection, not so much Gina or Gilda. I’m glad to know I can cross Mata Hari and Amour off the list given what I have and given your comments about Desire (such a gorgeous colour!). So interesting to know which ones you wouldn’t repurchase. I’d tried Amour on in Sephora a while back and granted, their lights can really screw up a colour, but it came off quite pink-red on me. Hours later, it looked pretty, I vaguely remember. And yet, in the photos, the colour looks so diff. than under those lights…. I can’t make up my mind about it at ALL. It goes up and down my list like mad.
So relieved to hear your thoughts on Lovejoy. I don’t like ruddy or brick-y colours at all and my initial feeling was to stay far away from it, but then so many swatches I saw made it look less ruddy. But then I’d see *another* photo and back came the alarm. So bloody hard to decide. That’s why your insights are so incredibly valuable. Even if that *is* one of the ones available at my Sephora (they have only about 8 blushes out, if I recall correctly), the Sephora lights make it impossible to really judge.
Okay, Lokoum is #1, Sin #2, Gilda #3 then I guess Gina, Albatross and possibly Oasis? Given your comments about Madly and how close it seems (to me) to Luster, that’s off the list. Deep Throat & Amour are still wild cards. One day, when I’ve given you some breathing room, I will ask you about Riviera! 😉 BTW, I laughed at your doubt that you would EVER finish Taj Mahal. You’re a brave, brave woman for taking that one on. I don’t think I could manage it given my yellow undertones! From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU! I would hug you like mad if you were here right now. I’m so grateful, even my verboseness can’t cover it. THANK YOU!!! Now, if you’ll excuse me, I think I need to start an AA group for NARs blushaholics. ;P
@Kafka He’s a Bichon-Schnauzer mix! He won’t lick faces, but he’s obsessed with licking and chewing other body parts, haha.
I consider DT to be a softer tone because, technically, Orgasm is “brighter,” but DT seems to actually have pigment to it. When I swatch Orgasm, I get almost no color, but a fair amount of that sparkle. I swatch DT and I actually get pigment out of it. I have to work to get Orgasm to show up, which is usually between 3-5 swipes, and then the sparkle just gets more intense. I do get peach from it, but I feel it is more due to the amount of shimmer from it than the actual base color. IDK. I’m just not a fan of Orgasm. The texture sucks, IMO, and the payoff is a pain. Deep Throat is softer, but is actually pigmented, so it layers more easily. It’s a less intensified version of Torrid, but less orange. If it’s carried at your Sephora, ask for them to scrape off a sample. I have heard very pale people say it’s too light/doesn’t show up, but I also know darker skin toned ladies who say it works just fine, and have even heard a girl on YT who I believe was NC45 in MAC say it was too bright. It’s definitely confusing, right?! As for Amour, it also looks too red on me at times, but perfectly fine other times. It looks overly pinkish-red in some lights and in others it will look more peach. The fact that I’m never sure if it will look good or bad is one of the reasons I’m not too fond of it.
Sin and Oasis are quite similar. Oasis is a little more “red/rose.” Oasis also seems a little more sparkly than Sin, which is why I opted for Sin. I still might get Oasis at some point, lol.
Riviera is quite the gorgeous, true pink. It’s sort of a medium, bright, glowy pink. It’s not worth the near $40, IMO, though. I bought it during winter because I felt I needed something brightening that was pink when I was getting so sallow and pale looking. IIRC, it’s a little brighter than Angelika, but not as cool.
Madly is probably even more “nude” than Luster. Luster is far superior. It’s more dimensional, I think.
And yes, Lovejoy was just ick on me. It made me feel splotchy and like I had some sort of fever/illness.
Taj Mahal was mostly for novelty. It’s always just a little too much for me even when I’m tan. I’m still always thinking, holy.shit.my.blush.is.ORANGE…legit. LOL. It’s a little better if worn over bronzer, but still…mostly a novelty/collector piece.
@Miss J, I wish you lived near me. I think we’d have a blast. 🙂 Bichon-Schnauzer? That must be one intense little personality!! But I bet he’s gorgeous in addition to being feisty. Btw, in my world, they’re “kisses” not licks. My family is utterly *horrified* that I have taught Zola the “kissseeee” command and, even worse, that I use it often! <grin>
Hahahaha that Lovejoy made you feel splotchy and fevered. You sound like you had the mumps or measles. And a big ROFL at your reaction to Taj Mahal. I bet it’s simply stunning on a dark beauty but us yellowy olives should stay far, far away!
Thank GOD you are as confused about D/T -vs- Orgasm as I am, because I felt I was quite alone in my intense bewilderment. And an equal Thank God that you’ve heard all the completely contradictory, competing comments about Deep Throat too. I felt I was losing my mind whenever I’d read yet *another* totally polarised report on it. You’re right, Orgasm is a LOT of work for it show up (at least on me) and then, when it does, it seems to be mostly shine and shimmer. Yay, I’m not totally crazy! Once in a blue moon, I’m in the mood for it but… gah. And you should hear my mother/sister on the subject of how even intense work yields nothing. Nothing! ZERO. They’ve got much, much darker olive/yellow skin than myself so that explains it but it’s still a pain. I will definitely try Deep Throat though after all you’ve said, particularly as you find it less orange than Torrid.
Speaking of Torrid, it’s so odd that almost all the online swatches I see of it show it as a brighter *pink*-peach than Orgasm when the one in my hand looks totally orange-peach to me. Medium orange with not a whisper of pink anywhere. Maybe I’m just not good with colours but, out of all the blog or online swatches, I think I’ve only seen ONE that looks remotely close. That’s why I don’t trust most of these online swatches (except for Christine’s which has multiple diff. lighting settings on a white background *and* shows it on the skin). But not even for NARS am I going to brave the horrors and snootiness of the revolting obnoxious Neiman Marcus to see this stuff in person. <shudder> That is the only place with a good selection of the blushes but even THEY have only 18 or so, not the full 35 or more. (26 powder, 7 cream, all the multiples). I wish Mounia and some of the others hadn’t been discontinued because they (and even Crazed) look more interesting than this constant procession of peach that I see everywhere and across all the brands. Mmm…. Mounia…..
Good to know about Oasis. I do prefer a more rose pink undertone to my blushes, generally speaking, but it just doesn’t look as gorgeous as Sin so it’s almost at the bottom of my list. I LUST for Sin! 😉 As for Riviera, I’d never pay full price for it. I’m too much of a cheapskate, LOL, so eBay all the way. But I definitely have my eye on it. Specifically, a Maldives/Riviera Multiple Duo which is always being offered on eBay. Maldives looks like a gorgeous brown pink which would be perfect for summer. And then there is the Cadaques (sp?) Multiple…. OH MY! What a gorgeous warm but bright pink. Much warmer than Desire and, by the looks of it, much brighter than Riviera.
What do you think about Silvana, Zen or Nico (as a finishing powder)? What’s next on your Wish or Lust list? I love talking to you and having someone finally — FINALLY — to share my NARS blush obsession with. But I feel guilty for how much of your time I’ve taken. You don’t have to answer any more of this if you lack the time since I’ve pestered you enough as it is but please know, my gratitude knows no bounds for all your wonderful help. Massive smooch!

@Kafka @Miss Well, he is awfully adorable when he sleeps, LOL. He has atrocious puppy manners despite how hard I tried to train him; he thinks he owns everyone, not the other way around, and he is the most persistent, demanding dog when he wants something.
We would most definitely have a blast! My dog would most likely try to eat yours because he forgets he is little, and thinks all other dogs are snacks and play toys! He gets very offended, though, when other dogs can dominate him. I tried to socialize him well, but he just acts ridiculous around other dogs. He is only good with one of the neighbors dogs. Love him, but he’s nuts, lol.
You know, I’m fairly certain I actually used the words mumps and measles to describe Lovejoy in a review, too. HAHA. I also believe I used the word rosacea to describe it, as well. It was just awful on me.
AND YES!!!! Torrid always seems to look pinkish in photos online, but I don’t even see a hint of pink when looking at it in person or when it’s applied. I have to admit, I’m much more of a pinky-peach, peach, coral blush person, but I wish that Crazed and Outlaw would come back! Crap, I almost entirely forgot about Cadaques!!! I wish they’d come out with the tints again. 🙁 WAH! Next on my list is the G-Spot Multiple, I think, if I can get over the price or find a good deal. I also want to get the ever popular Cactus Flower. I thought about Lokoum, too, but since it’s so close to Taos, I don’t think there’d be much of a point to that. I don’t remember trying Silvana. I remember thinking it would be too much of a terracotta color for me, which I don’t tend to gravitate towards. I’ve never tried Zen as a face powder, just as a contour, and i’m “meh” about it. As much as MAC bugs me to no end, I do love their contour powders. As for Nico, sooo not worth the money. I didn’t find it really did anything, lol. I’ve also thought about trying the new Liberte blush, but I just keep thinking it’d probably look too “burnt” to me. Haven’t seen it in person, yet, so no real grasp on the color.
B-T-DUBS, man, if I didn’t want to interact with people, I wouldn’t be on a beauty blog leaving comments, lol. I’d just be a lurker. You aren’t bothering me at all! Since I only post as a guest, I have to manually go back to older posts to check comments, so if you comment on an older post, but don’t get a response just “pester” me on a newer post. 😛
Miss J, I was going to recommend Cactus Flower to you. Until I got Luster, it was the *ONLY* blush (out of all my blushes — NARS, Chanel, YSL, Guerlain, etc.) that I got consistent compliments or “what are you wearing?” questions about! With Luster, I get them too but it’s more comments on my skin or foundation looking good. And never as much as when I wear Cactus Flower! It’s such a sheer lovely pink-mango-coral on and the shimmer is incredibly subtle. For all that it looks red in the pan, it’s most definitely NOT on my skin. For all that it’s sheer, it’s bright too but a really natural looking warm “bright,” if that makes any sense. And no orange. If you love peachy-pink-corals, I can’t recommend enough that you try it.
If you think Zen is terracotta, I guess Laguna is out for you. LOL. I really like Laguna for contouring but the swatches I’ve seen of Zen make it seem much, much lighter. Or is that Silvana? Hm, might be Silvana. (The Beigey-Browns always are a blur in my mind.) Either way, Zen isn’t for finishing but Nico absolutely is. It’s received terrible reviews on Makeupalley because people seem to think that it’s a blush powder when, in reality, it’s supposed to be a finishing, setting powder. Kinda like a coloured version of MUFE HD, if you will. So, that was how I was going to use it.
I saw the new Liberté blush (not the Miss Liberty, but Liberté) in my Sephora and…. BURNT! Again, Sephora lights screw everything up but, to my eyes, it was most definitely a burnt colour. I shied far away from it. I think it would be gorgeous on dark skin but for me? Not a chance in hell. It looked to me like the lovechild of Taj Mahal and Lovejoy.
G-Spot is going for a decent price (relative to retail) right now on eBay. $25 or so for the lowest price, but I’ve also seen $22. I’ve seen some mixed reviews for it. As for the colour, on some swatches it looks to me it seems like a darker, more rose-with-a-faint-brown-undertone than Cactus Flower. But in others, it looks much more pink. Damn online swatches. That’s another one that is never available at my local Sephora (but really, what is?).
How old is your boy? Schnauzers are *very* stubborn, but Bichons are also very much only-child types and not very keen on other dogs (outside of their own pack, that is). So, I definitely believe you in terms of his personality. I think he sounds like a hoot! What’s his name? Are his photos up at the Temptalia Pet Group on Flickr? Zola is pretty indifferent to other dogs unless he’s playing chase at the dog park but he loves women. LOVES! The boy must have been a libertine in another life. lol. Oddly, all my German Shepherds have been that way. My last one, Kafka, was utterly *OBSESSED* with big-breasted blondes. Seriously. He also used to watch television nonstop and in detail. So when Anna Nicole Smith died and there was that 24/7 coverage, I swear to GOD I could not actually drag him away from the television. He would actually bark when her image came up! If my family hadn’t witnessed it for themselves, no-one would ever believe me. Ah, Hairy Children…. in my utterly biased opinion, there is a reason why D-O-G also spells G-O-D backwards. lol. 😉
@Miss J, I was going to recommend Cactus Flower to you! Until I got Luster, it was the *ONLY* blush (out of all my blushes — NARS, Chanel, YSL, Guerlain, etc.) that I got consistent compliments or “what blush are you wearing?” questions about! With Luster, I get them too but it’s more comments on my skin or foundation looking really good or me “glowing.” But I never get as many comments as when I wear Cactus Flower!
Ah, Hairy Children…. in my utterly biased opinion, there is a reason why D-O-G also spells G-O-D backwards. lol. 😉
@Miss J @Kafka @Miss I read that Outlaw is coming back for Fall 2012, but I don’t know how reliable that info is, or if it will be LE, or returned to the perm line. As for Nico, I bought it as a subtle highlighter, but it actually works pretty well for me as an allover “glowy” face powder, but I’m pretty light. I also bought it for the name (I’m a huge Velvet Underground fan), so luckily I found *some* use for it.
@xamyx@Miss@Kafka@Miss Outlaw might be coming BACK?!?!?! <thud> Give me a minute while I pick myself up and recuperate! Erm… everything I was going to respond to about Nico suddenly flew out of my mind.
@Kafka @Miss Okay, that’s it, you have COMPLETELY sold me on Cactus Flower! I have wanted it for a long time, but just always space grabbing it when I’m shopping.
I absolutely LOVE Laguna. It’s the perfect golden bronzer on me. Silvana is the one I find too terracotta…it’s just a little too peachy-brown for my taste for a blush, and I’ve never been sure what else I’d want to use it for, so it’s never been on my list, really. I believe Zen is quite light, and is more neutral, right? The beige ones are definitely hard to remember. On Nico, it drives me crazy when I read reviews mad about it not being a good blush, lol. It’s definitely more of a highlighting/soft focus face powder, and it works to blend out blushes. I just never remembered to use it enough when I owned it the first time to get it a second.
The lovechild of Taj Mahal and Lovejoy, you say? PASS. I don’t need to look like I’m ill, lol. I guess it was a good choice for them to come out with, though, since most of the other releases had been much lighter and geared more toward very light skin tones. The dark beauties needed some NARS blush love, too, dammit! I think G-Spot will make the list for sure. I’m not much of a pink blush girl, but I do like the red/rose tones when I want to go more that route. And I’m dying for Outlaw to come back. *drool* Must find a 12 step for makeup addiction….needs help now, haha.
The pups name is Bubba. Technically, not a “pup” any longer considering he’s 10 or 11, so more like old man. We got him as the family pet back then, and hadn’t expected to get him, so hadn’t had any name picked out. Not really sure how we landed on Bubba. I think it was because he had such a big dog personality, but was such a twerp that it was kind of an ironic name for him. He suckered us in to taking him home. We bought him from a pet shop that is family owned and only works with respectable breeders. It’s not the puppy mill type of place at all. We went to inquire about beagles, but I saw him, held him, and then it was all over from there. I had to take him home! HAHA. I haven’t put any photos of him on the Flickr, but I’ll have to check that out at some point. I think many dogs are obsessed with TV, I know my dog is for sure, but I am DYING at your dog’s obsession with TV and ANS! LOL! Oh lord! Fur babies are the best!
@Miss J, yay! You’ll have to let me know what you think of Cactus Flower. Promise?? And I’m so with you on the drooling over Outlaw. I’ll be buying it the day it comes out. Last night, when Amy told me, I felt like I’d just been told there was a Santa Claus. LOL. So, about setting up that 12 Step Program….. <grin>
@Miss J, yay! YAY!! You’ll have to let me know what you think of Cactus Flower. Promise?? Oh, guess what? My mother *just* called me and she bought Cactus Flower after constantly admiring it on me. She had to go to two diff. places because they were totally sold out at Sephora! She was completely taken aback at the popularity. And the funny thing is that my mother, the fashionista who is a die-hard, decades-long loyalist of Chanel and a few other expensive brands, is slowly becoming really into NARS. (She went out and bought Luster the *day* after she saw mine!) She actually told me last week that “Chanel seems to have really gone down these days but these NARS things of yours….” Hahaha! And I’m so with you on the drooling over Outlaw. I’ll be buying it the day it comes out. Last night, when Amy told me, I felt like I’d just been told there was a Santa Claus. LOL. So, about setting up that 12 Step Program….. <grin>
@Kafka @Miss I WILL!! I am excited for it! I’m wondering how similar it will be on me compared to Taos and Exhibit A. What’s your favorite brush to use with the cream blushes? UGH, I can’t wait to get my mitts on Outlaw. It looks like it’ll be a great berry color for fall/winter. It was discontinued before I was able to get my hands on that one, so I’m stoked it’s coming back. Haha, that is so cute about your mom! I hope she likes Cactus Flower, too! Are they even selling them at Sephora, anymore? I was under the impression that they were going to stop carrying the cream blushes. 🙁 Make sure to let me know what your next blush pick ends up being and how you like it!
NARS’ Torrid combined with my new love, Luster, as a highlighter on top. Those people for whom Orgasm barely shows up or is too glittery should really consider Torrid. And Luster with its sheer gold/gold peach shimmer is really to die for, even though it doesn’t appear particularly interesting in the pan. It turns my look/foundation into “my skin but better.” It’s so lovely on, my fashionista mother went out and bought it for herself the very next day after seeing/trying it!
MAC Warmth of coral, NARS Orgasm, MAC Subtle Breeze, Tarte Dollface
Love all of these!
ELF’s Glow or Maybelline’s Dream Bouncy Blush in Coral Candy
Benefit Bella Bamba or Joues Contrastes blushes in Espiègle, Pink Explosion, Orchid Rose. And Horizon this year !
MAC’s Well Dressed is a staple as well as my Tarina Tarantino blush palette but I’m loving my new Buxom True Hue Blush in Seduction. 🙂
Bright yellow pink creme blush by MAC. Gives me a fresh youthful glow and stays longer for a day.
Mine doesn’t change with the seasons. I’m always pale, so the same ones suit me year round. For a long time, my favourite has been MAC Pink Cult, but Launch Away has now joined it at the top of my list of favourites. Which I reach for depends on my mood and what I am wearing
I’m still looking for one *g* I have Benefit’s Hervana, which I’m liking a bit, but if anyone’s got any recs for a cool-toned very very pale girl (I’m not likely to tan; I work in a windowless room) I’m all ears 🙂 (I haven’t matched to MAC but would probably be NW15 or lighter; in Chanel I’m Beige Rose 12)
Corals, peaches and oranges! Most used are Korres 44 Orange, Tarte Tipsy, MAC Style and MAC Foolish Me. I prefer a bit of shimmer on my cheeks in the summer, so when I wear a matte blush I usually apply a warm or coral shimmery product on top, like Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Nectar or MAC MSF in Stereo Rose.
Even in summer, corals are just not for me, though I do try to use my Coralista and MAC Early Morning a bit more (wore the latter yesterday). My “go to” is probably MAC’s Pinch o’ Peach, which isn’t really peach at at all.
MAC Melba or Peaches, Benefit Bella Bamba or Illamasqua Dixie. Love them all!
NARS’s Cactus Flower and Guerlain’s Blush G Serie Norie. 🙂
@Elle, I love Cactus Flower. Such a gorgeous colour that deserves a lot more attention and love.
I don’t change that much from season to season. I really like to use a # of blushes – mostly I tend to use a gel stick by Josie Maran & one in Pink Grapefruit by Laura Geller with a highlighter from Laura Geller as well when I use a power blush.
I rotate them, but mac modern mandarin, immortal flower and tarte glitsen and tipsy are some of the colors I will be using, ah and also nars taj mahal, I am an nc 20-25 and taj mahal is so pretty on my skin tone. I also planning to use more mac my paradise, I’ve been afraid to use because I don’t want the flower to disappear.
I still find myself going back to Mac’s Marine Life pretty often. Guerlain’s Blush G as well.
I would definitely have to say the corals as well, my favorite is and most likely go-to is Benefit Coralista!
I love me a coral or peachy cheek! I go for Maybelline Bouncy Blush in Hot Tamale, MAC Springsheen or MAC Melba.
Coral by La Femme Blush on Rouge
Illamasqua’s “Katie” Blush 🙂
The Sun, in “Slightly burnt”
No, that’s not a brand of blush, it’s what happens to me despite the copious sunscreen I apply multiple times daily! Needless to say, no blush in the summer 🙂
La Femme blush in Terracota or Coral.
I love Benefit Coralista and NARS Orgasm for summer!!
MAC Warm Soul !
@Laurence. beautiful choice, I love warm soul but I’m in Chile and we are in autumn, Greetings
Since the rest of my makeup isn’t seasonal, my blush pretty much stays the same. I mostly reach for L’Oreal Mauvelous, as it is the perfect neutral shade (on me), with just a *hint* of color, and it goes with any other makeup shades I choose to wear. It’s been my “go to” blush for many years, but I’ve been eyeing NARS Zen. Another shade I wear for night is L’Oreal Sculpted Rose, or Color of Hope. I *love* L’Oreal blushes. In my opinion, they’re a close second to NARS in terms of quality.
MAC Style, Benefit Sugarbomb and Chanel Espigle have all been in heavy rotation lately! Anything peachy or coral, basically.
I don’t really rotate my blushes according to season, but I do tend to wear more bronzer.
I am looking for a lovely coral blush – that is NOT Nars Orgasm (too sparkly). So I’ll be interested in seeing everyone’s replies.
@mpca66 You should really try the new blush out with hey sailor fleet fast.
@AlexisArcher .. Yes, I saw this blush on Amarixe’s utube channel, but she said that it may be sold out .. will have to check this weekend 🙂
@mpca66 What is your skin tone or colouring? I wear NARS’ Torrid or Cactus Flower in lieu of Orgasm which is often too sparkly for me. Cactus Flower is a cream blush, Torrid is powder. Both have a shimmer (Cactus Flower more than Torrid, imo) but nothing close to what Orgasm has.
@Kafka I’m sorta a pinky/redish skin tone .. so Cactus flower would probably be too red for me. Torrid looks interesting .. I’ll have to check it out this weekend 🙂
@mpca66 @Kafka I also second torrid, it’s a beautiful coral.
Of course I can never choose just one. I have a souffle/mousse blush by Lancome called Peach Melba and Milani Sunset Beach. Then the MACs: Modern Mandarin, My Paradise from Surf Baby and Marine Life powder from To the Beach. I’ve just added Fleet Fast to the roster–trying to see if I truly love it.
My cheeks get red rather quickly during the summer so I tend to gravitate towards neutral/nude blushes like MAC Tenderling or a blush that will give my skin more of a glow than a lot of color like Benefit Sugarbomb.
Mac blushcreme pearl in Blossoming! I have a feeling I’m going to be out of it by the end of the summer. 🙁
MAC cream blush in Florida or blush ombre in ripe peaches. I also love one from the wonder woman collection but I cant remember the name off the top of my head for the life of me.
@AlexisArcher I’m wearing Florida today! With Benefit Bella Bamba over it! So pretty!
For summer, I like to use MAC’s Oh So Pale beauty powder or Hang Loose blush. Both are very light, sheer, and make my pale skin look fresh.
Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 hr blush in Glisten; a coral pink/red with a little glitter 😀 and some light bronzer on my cheeks topped with a little of their shimmer powder in Champaigne; beautiful combination
I find myself skipping blush a lot during the summer, my makeup gets much simpler for the summer. I did just get the Nude on Board bronzer which I LOOOVE so I have a feeling I’ll be using that more than anything all this summer.
@Cat G I can see this! Especially if you already get a bit of color from the outdoors, blush isn’t always a necessity!
Tarte Dollface. It has good lasting power, which is great since my skin is quite oily in the summer. The color is fresh and pretty.
@lauramarie100 I want to try these out so bad! I have oily skin also, so this might be something for me to look into!
@macyxmakeup Definitely! There are several matte shades (I stay away from sparkly anything on my cheeks) and they really last!
NARS Taj Mahal
Benefit Dallas! One of my favorite blushes in general, but it looks especially great with a tan. I also love MAC Sunbasque and NARS Luster.
@sarayiera Dallas has been on my wishlist forever now!
@sarayiera Luster is stunning! Utterly perfect for summer, if not all year round as well.
My favorite blush lately has been Mac Fleet Fast from the Hey Sailor collection. But I do wear Harmony when I want a bit of a tanned looked (I’m NW 20) or Style when I want a more orangey toned cheek. But I don’t really rotate blush depending on season. I do that more with everything else, especially nail polish.
I go for bright corals, reds and pinks like Nars Amor, MAC’s Bite of an Apple, and Tarte Dollface!
Nars Orgasm
NARS Taj Maha
Nars Orgasm
I love Stila’s customer color blush in Coral
Loreal’s Apricot Kiss
LMDB Poppy w/a dusting of Echo
Cargo’s Rome
the balms frat boy 🙂
Milani sunset beach, Its one of my favorite blushes and inexpensive, I have many name brand but I always gravitate to that one
I’ve been wearing NARS Gaity a lot. like… every day for about two weeks, haha. Before that I was stuck on the Sephora + Pantone Universe blush duo for the matte color, which is similar to a Buxom color.. that I don’t remember the name of. Ha, I’m helpful.
I just recently tried (and purchased) NARS Orgasm for the first time. I love it for summer! I’m NC10/15 so it’s a perfect bronzey peach for me and gives me a gorgeous glow. Plus I live that I can skip contouring AND highlighting, with it… I just concentrate the color a bit more in the hollows of my cheeks for contour, and the shimmer in it already provides te perfect highlight. I seriously can’t believe it took me so long to try it.
NARS Sin, Deep Throat, and Orgasm. I’ve been loving NARS blushes lately…they just stay on so long!
The same as all the other seasons — MAC’s Love Rock or Improvise. If I were on a desert island, these are the only 2 blushes I would ever need … or want.
Estée Lauder Siren (Macy’s exclusive) and Nars Orgasm.
