What's your comfortable price point look like?
What’s your comfortable price point look like? Under $10? Around $15? Nothing over $50? Does it depend on the item?
For eyeshadows, I like around $20; blushes around $25-30; palettes no more than $50; lipsticks around $25. Of course, just because that’s what’s comfortable doesn’t mean I don’t buy below or above, LOL! I’d like to live a life where Guerlain’s $48 price point was comfortable. 😉
Do you have a question idea? Submit yours here.
Nail polish: No more than $10 a bottle IF it’s a brand I can’t get a discount on. Example, I get Essie, Zoya, China Glaze and OPI (plus other salon brands) for 50% less than retail.
Palettes: If I can’t get a discount than no more than $50 but the size of it better be worth it along with the quality of product.
Blush: No more than $15.
Lipstick: No more than $10
Lipgloss: No more than $10
Individual shadows: No more than $12 (which is why I don’t own more MAC but will now that I have a pro card)
Foundation (liquid): No more than $40
Foundation (mineral): No more than $25
Brushes: Depending on the brush no more than $15 each.
My price range is almost identical to yours, however I feel like you can ALWAYS find dupes at the drugstore for most of these items. Essence (Carried by ulta) has GREAT options for eyebrow pencils, the blonde number 5 is an exact dupe to Mac’s lingering eyebrow pencil. Best part? It’s only 3 bucks at most. Personally with college expenses I need to cut down on my spending, so I’m sticking with the essential high end products like foundations/primers and swapping in drugstore dupes for the time being 🙂
@ashleynicolee Good point. A number of years ago,as with fashion, it was always the high end that set the pace for products and popular colours which didn’t filter down to the DS store level products for at least a year or more. That’s simply not the case anymore, and it is much easier to find dupes for most of these items with no excess lead time and a lot of good companies to choose from as well.
I’d say anything under $60 for foundation, $30 for concealer, and $40 for pressed powder.
But like I said in the last discussion, value is more important than price alone. For example, I’d rather spend $52 for 1 oz of the Chanel Loose Powder than the ridiculous amount of $35 for 0.25 oz of the Bobbi Brown Sheer Finish Loose Powder.
It looks like Wet n’ Wild.
It differs depending on brand (and quality, of course, but I suppose that’s a given).
For good quality drugstore makeup I usually won’t go over $10 for a foundation or powder, $5-6 for eyeshadows/eyeliners/blush/bronzer, $7-8 for mascaras and $4-5 for lip products. But if I have coupons, which I generally do, I’m okay going a few dollars over because the coupon will make up for it.
For higher end makeup it also differs. In the case of brands like MAC or Clinique, those on the lower end of “high-end” makeup, I try to keep it under $25-30 for foundations and powders. Cheek products around $15-20, lip and eye products $10-15. But for brands like Nars, Make Up For Ever, YSL, etc (typically the pricier “high-end” makeup) I’ll spend a little more. But my absolute maximum is around $40-45 for a foundation if it’s absolutely amazing, $30ish for other face and cheek products, but only if I know I’ll get good use out of them (since I don’t typically wear a lot of blush or bronzer), and around $20-25 for various lip and eye products. Eyeshadows palettes, depending on the number of shadows they contain, I generally top out at $50 or so.
I’m sure it sounds silly looking at it, how my price point varies depending on where I’m shopping. I’m sure non-beauty-addicts will consider me borderline insane :-/ Lol but it makes perfect sense in my mind
@nacacijin Oh, borderline insane is an understatement for me to some people. LOL!
For foundation, about $40-50. Eyeshadows, I’m with you on $20-25. Blushes and highlighters–I guess I’d LIKE to pay $35-40…but that, of course, isn’t always the case 😛
Moisturizer: $75 – $100
Primer: $40 – $70
Foundation: $45 – $80
Eyeshadow: $20 – 25
Mascara: $25 – $35
Blush: $20 – $30
Highlighter: $50 or less depending on brand/formula/performance
Lipstick: $20 – $45
Brushes: $50 – $100 each
I don’t have a set pricepoint. I’d rather buy a few items at a time if it means I can have the items I really want. I have products I will pretty much “skimp” on, because I can (foundation, powder, concealer, lipstick/gloss), and only go DS, but it allows me to be able to spend more on my eyeshadows. I also take advantage of BOGO’s, as well as coupons, sales, and in-store promotions. I have a list of items I still want, and have for quite some time, but every time I can afford to shop for makeup, I look at what I need right away, or what can wait. However, I can’t see myself spending $48 USD on a tube of lipstick, unless it had some special, unique properties, but so far, I haven’t found anything that seems any better than what I can find in a DS brand.
@xamyx I love companies that offer rewards programs and coupon code offers and I am now at the 15% off level on all my Illamasqua UK site purchases.. woohoo! Every little bit helps! But I’m on the same page with you when it comes to not having a set pricepoint..it’s all about a balance between quality first and then value.
If it’s a high-end product that I feel is unique enough (and therefore would not find something remotely similar at the drugstore), I’ll pay the price so long as it doesn’t exceed about $40-50. I’m pretty cheap and have had a lot of good experiences with drugstore products in the past, so I’m skeptical unless it’s an item that I really, really just have to have.
That being said some drugstore products are getting insanely expensive! If something is over $15, I’ll just go ahead and fork over the extra money for high-end.
@inhermakeupbag In Canada drug store brands hit close to the $20 mark all the time. Why buy Physicians Formula when I can pay the same price for MAC. >_<
@Ani_BEE @inhermakeupbag I import most of my items from the states and pay always in US dollars and frequently get nabbed for customs for brands we simply cannot get up here very easily. Fortunately, most companies offer some type of rewards programs or at a minimum free shipping on orders exceeding a certain amount.
@inhermakeupbag have to agree with $50 being my limit, though being in Australia that doesn’t mean I own any high end products, with them being usually over $60 here. I usually own Mac and OPI and drugstore products, with their not being much difference in price from the two department store brands and the drugstore.
I won’t go over $30 of my own money, unless I get gifts, giftcards etc. I am a college girl on a budget, after all!
I don’t have a price point in fact. If I had Chantecaille here I would buy. Fine wine lovers never pay attention to the prices ( I know very well about that lol here we have châteaux everywhere and hundreds of wines ! ), makeup addicts don’t either but prices are so much, so much lower for us that it’s still ok !
If a product is well-regarded and interesting enough, I’m usually willing to splurge. Generally, I don’t have a specific price point in mind when I buy things; what I do have is a *maximum* that I’m willing to spend on specific products that I buy regularly.
Face Products: foundation – $50, pressed powder – $25, concealer – $40 (my HG is Bobbi Brown, but I generally buy drugstore for the concealers I keep in my purse/gym bags), highlighters – $30, blush – $30
Eye Products: eyeshadows – $20 (single) | $50 (palette), eyeliner: $20 (pencil) | $30 (gel) | $15 (liquid)
Lip Products: $35 (stick), $10 (liners), $20 (gloss), $20 (pencils)
Primers: $20 (lip), $15-20 (eyes)
depends how much I like the products and the level of the brands.
I can think for days to decide whether to buy a 8, 9 pounds drugstore lipstick as I think it is expensive for the brands and I probably won’t really use it.
but I could buy 3 lipsticks from Tom Ford in a heardbeat for 36 pounds each as I know that is the price if you want something from this brand.
I wish I could weigh in on the topic but its so hard living outside of the US you will pay basically whatever they’re asking for a product you really want! I personally think $20 for a single eyeshadow is kinda high, I never paid that except for Dior and that was before I really knew about any other brands. You can get really great eyeshadows for under $10, Inglot included.
@amalia22e I would absolutely *love* to try Inglot, and their color range seems so vast, but not having a store nearby that carries it makes it difficult.
@xamyx Same here! I would love to get a Freedom Palette, but there’s no location anywhere near me, and I wouldn’t know where to start on the site because there are so many textures and shades. They look so lovely, though, and at such a great price point!
Under $15, always, though I prefer to keep it under $12-10. I’ll go out of my comfort zone and spoil myself once in a while though.
I have a general comfort zone, per item, if this answer is supposed to be broken down. I’ll list item, and maximum price I’ll pay. Foundation – $15
Concealer – $9Powder – $10Primer (Face) – $10Primer (eye) – $5Eyeshadow (Single) – $10 (I really like Inglot :D)Eyeliner – $8Mascara – $10Blush/Bronzer/Highlight – $8Gloss – $5Lipstick – $8Nail Polish – $6 Bath,Body, and Hair – $10 Skincare – $12Brushes – $12
I don’t have price points on beauty products 🙁 i will splurge if the product is worth it. I also don’t have TONS of make up so I can spend $48 on a lipstick because I don’t buy very often and I’m not a collector so everything I have spent big bucks on gets used almost everyday.
Comfortable? Less than $10, ha. But my opinion of price really seems to depend on the brand and the individual product. Like, MAC’s ~$14 offerings aren’t cheap to me, but when Revlon comes out with something that costs, like, $12, I think it’s really expensive.
I have quite a few products that are pretty inexpensive drugstore stuff and several things I would consider mid-range (MAC, Benefit), meanwhile I have nothing I’d consider high-end (let alone luxury) like Chanel, Dior, or Cle de Peau; hell, I love Illamasqua to death and I can barely bring myself to spring for it–which is because I have to save my money in order to spend it on makeup, so something that costs more upfront just isn’t as palatable to buy. If I had disposable income, I would likely be more comfortable with something in the drugstore that costs >$10, and likewise something in the department store that costs >$30.
@coldvault I’m like this too. I’m completely flabbergasted at drugstore products that are over $15 most of the time, but I consider a mid to high end palette that’s less than $50 to be OMG cheap.
Hmm…..Usually won’t spend more than about $35 on a blush, $20-$25 on a single eyeshadow, my most expensive lipsticks are around $35 and I can’t imagine going much higher than that (although I’m sure I’ll find something, LOL) Palettes I usually try to keep around $50-$60 dollars, only because I have a fondness for Dior eyeshadow palettes. I will (and have, many times) go outside my general price range if I feel it’s unique enough to justify the price. However, there are somethings I refuse to spend large amounts of money on: I will not buy mascara if it’s over $10 because no high end mascara I’ve ever owned impressed me enough to repurchase, so I generally stick with drugstore. I also will not spend more than bout $15 dollars on lip liner or brow pencils, so for both of those things I tend to stick with MAC and occasionally some drugstore products. The one thing I have no real price point for is anything that goes on my face: I have very acne prone skin and a lot of post-acne scarring, so always buy high end primer, foundation, concealer, powder, etc. so that I have a better chance of not breaking out from it, and I find the quality to be higher than drugstore products of the same nature. I also do not have a general price point for skincare: if it is going on my face then it is worth the extra money.
@Natalie I’m the opposite when it comes to face products; I find the higher end ones contain alot of unnecessary fragrance, and while they don’t cause break-outs, my skin tends to get a bit itchy.
This is a great question! MAC is the most expensive brand I buy and I have a pro card so I save some cash. As far as other brands, I never shop the department stores but I will shop Sephora only when they are offering a VIB promo of 15%. That way I can get the more expensive items to a price that is palpable to me. Having said that, I pay up to $20 for lipsticks, $20 for eyeshadow, $15 for nail color (only if the color is really unique). I never spend more than $10 for mascara and that always comes from Ulta or WalMart when they have sales. I can’t bring myself to spend $30 on such a disposable product. Foundation $30, blush $20. Skincare is also from Target or WalMart. Sometimes I’ll spend on a good body/face moisturizer. Since I’ve been pregnant, I’ve spent $40 per tin of L’Occitane shea butter and I think it’s worth it! (The first time I can justify spending so much.) I usually spend much, much less though. It’s funny that I spend so little on individual items but if I were to tally ALL my beauty products it would probably equal the GDP of a small nation.
This is a great question, Christine! My comfortable price point tends to hover around the same prices as you. Eyeshadows I like to spend between $20-$25, blushes $20-$30, highlighter $30-$40, mascara $10-$20 (I have to agree with most people saying that they haven’t found a high-end mascara worth purchasing), and lipsticks usually under $10 (I find you can find a lot of great drugstore lipsticks although I will splurge on Bobbi Brown High Shimmer Lipglosses.) Primers and foundations I tend to splurge a little more on, anything from $20-$60 dollars, because I have really hard to manage combination skin and drugstore products just don’t seem to cut it. I also tend to splurge on tools like a good set of brushes because if you take care of them, they will last you forever and sometimes the beauty of a look is all in the brushes! A lot of drugstore brands have been releasing some really great products, so it is easy to say in (and even under) budget!
I don’t really have a price point; if there’s an item I want, and I think it’s worth the money, I’l buy it. Burberry blushes are $42, and I’ll spend that, and I’ve bought Rouge G lipsticks for $48, and in both cases I think for me it was worth the money. I prefer not to spend more than $100 on any one item, and if I can spend less than $50 for one item that’s even better, but if I have the money and I think the item’s worth it, I’ll buy it.
Eyeshadow : 15$
Blush : 30$
Lipstick : 20$
Foundation : 40$
My comfortable price point depends on the item. I would not pay more than $15 or $18 dollars for a drugstore foundation but understand that for a HE one, I would probably have to pay about $50. I am willing to splurge on foundation or maybe an eyeshadow palette, but I would not buy a lipstick for over $25 dollars. I would have to be fully convinced a product is HG and something I cannot live without in order to spend more than $80 on a SINGLE item. Ooooh, like Christine, I would like to live in a life where Guerlain’s price point is comfortable 🙂 !
Good question. I’d say around $35-40 is my maximum with a foundation. I’ve spent FAR less but I have issues finding good foundations. My skin is very oily and acne prone and I have a warm medium complexion that never seems to match drugstore foundations.. If I find something that is good on all three fronts, I will pay top dollar. So far ALL that really works in Smashbox BB Cream and Estee Lauder Double Wear. I prefer to pay that or less for powder, but I use Smashbox Halo (I think it’s about $55). Though there is a lot of quantity, so the value for the price isn’t bad. For an eyeshadow single, around $18 is my maximum (and I will ONLY buy singles for “workhorse” colors that I use all the time). For a palette, I like to stay around $50 or less, though after much hemming and hawing I paid $55 for the Urban Decay 15th anniversary palette (so glad I did). For blush, I prefer not to spend more than $25. For mascara I definitely like to stay under $20. Same with eyeliner. Lipsticks – definitely under $20.
Excluding foundations, skin care, and palettes, I’m not really “comfortable” spending more than 15$ for anything. Mac is basically my splurge, because I know there are equally functioning or pretty things for less than that. My most expensive single item was a Chanel lipstick, and that one was a gift. 20$ for an eye shadow is just too much! Imagine filling up a palette with 20$ eyeshadows? Eek.
O live IN Brazil, so the prices are much more expensives…
20$ for eyeshadow is waaaay too much, specially when there are so many dupes out there and even 3$ drugstore ones are good contenders. Lipsticks, I top it off with the MAC ones, the rest are below that…anything else, excluding palettes and skin care, has to be exceptionally good or unique for me to fork over more than 30!
If you KNOW the product is very good and there are no cheaper alternatives, it’s probably worth the money
I do sometimes spend more or less than these amounts, but in general this shows which products I consider worth spending the $$ on and what I don’t.
Eyeshadow: $18
Lipstick/gloss: $15
Foundation: $70
Blush/Highlighter: $15
Concealer:$70
Powder: $35
I try to stay under $20 for eye and lip products, and under 30 for face other than foundation, under $50 for that.
I agree with everyone else who have said that price point doesn’t matter if there’s a product that’s “the one” — if it works that well for me and is so well-received, then I’ll pay for it. Chanel’s Vitalumiere Aqua does that for me. For everything else, I compare prices with dupes and other similar brands to judge price and quality. I KNOW I should spend less on lip products, though, and probably more money on tools like brushes!
I think you should live within your means. Just because there’s a brand that’s popular I don’t think that you should jump on the bandwagon if you can’t afford to. However if there’s a pricey item that you can fully justify on purchasing then by all means save your pennies to be able to purchase it. We are in a recession people…..
Mascara: drugstore because of the shelf life on it and they work much better for me. I have tried high end and have been disappointed.
Foundation: mid-high end (Illamasqua/MAC) because drugstore brands do not have a full coverage foundation that I need.
Blush/higlighter: MAC, NARS, LORAC because they offer plenty of unique colors and finishes. Drugstore brands fade away after 2 hours on me.
Lipstick/lipgloss: I did try a Chanel lipstick. Beautiful color, dried my lips like the Sahara desert. I had to return it. That’s the most expensive I’ve ever gone. Love MAC creamsheens and lusters, Smashbox lipgloss, Mabeline color sensations lipsticks are amazing, Covergirl lipsticks in the pewter color tubes and color button at the bottom are very opaque and creamy
Eyeshadow: Wet n’ wild up to NARS.
I will not touch Chanel, Guerlain, Burberry or Dior because I cannot afford them. However, I will just enjoy swatches courtesy of Christine (Thank you!).
Skincare: Simple is a good drugstore brand, Mary Kay believe it or not has the awesome Timewise system. Lots of people are into these brands that they’re not willing to give Mary Kay a try. Clinique has been a good system for me as well. That’s the priciest I will go.
Eyeshadows: $18 for singles, $20 for singles and trios.
Blush: $30
Lipstick/gloss: $15
Foundation: $50
Concealer: $25
Highlighter: $40
Palettes: $40
Moisturizer/serums: $100
Cleanser: $40
Body wash/body lotion: $40
Shampoo/conditioner/styling products: $30
Nail polish: $10
That being said, I would rather spend $29 on Burberry shadow than $10 on a drugstore shadow and $52 on a Cle de Peau lipstick than $5 on a lipstick from the drugstore. If I’m not satisfied with the product it feels like a waste of money even if it’s just a couple of dollars.
Eyeshadow: $5 MAX thanks to Inglot.
Mascara: $8
Lipstick/Lipgloss: $15
Concealer: $25
Blush: $25
Foundation:$45
Skincare: Doesnt matter as long as its amazing.
It depends on the item. I cannot afford to “impulse buy” makeup (or anything else). Hence, I do my homework! That means getting samples, making sure every item works for me (and improves my appearance), and, if it’s from a high-end brand, looking for lower-priced dupes. That means reading ingredient labels. (Just because someone claims a certain item is a dupe for a higher-priced, similar item, doesn’t mean it IS – especially if the ingredients are vastly different). I also care a LOT more about how a particular product looks on me, and very little for a brands “status” or how it’s packaged. Throughout my life I have had people comment “You have beautiful eyes (lips/skin/etc)” but NEVER has anyone ever said “I LOVE that MAC Vibrant Grape you’re wearing!” or “That blush compact is gorgeous. Who makes it?” The only thing that matters is the end result.
@Twirly Girly LMAO you need to meet more makeup addicts offline. Those latter ones are the only type of compliments I get.
@Twirly Girly I more or less agree though I DO have plenty of people (both friends and strangers) who compliment or ask about the makeup I’m using. But as you say, it’s not brand specific. They want to know what color i’m wearing because they like it enough to picture themselves wearing it and want to know what it is or how I did it. It doesn’t matter to them if my answer is WetnWild or Guerlain (unless of course if what I’m wearing happens to be out of their budget!).
I don’t have a price range for many products. What I love about makeup you can generally find good quality and every price range if you search hard enough. I do dish out more if a product is really unique or very high in quality. The only products I have a definite price range for is are 45 for foundation (because I have acne prone skin and need heavy coverage) and 30ish for bronzer (Because the cheap ones make me look dirty or like snooki).
I do not really think in terms of individual product limits, more in terms of overall monthly expenditure, and I would have to really really want something in order to blow my entire month’s budget on a very expensive item. I am a quality over quantity person and would rather have 5 really good things than 25 mediocre things. That does not necessarily speak to price point either. At the same point, if it is something on the high end, I want to make sure individual reviews support the expenditure… there is no worse feeling than buying an expensive dud!
All I’m getting from this post is that American prices make me jealous. But I knew that from the moment you got nails inc cheaper than the country it hails from! 😐
I dont mind spending X amount of money on makeup so long as its worth the pricetag for me. I dont collect makeup, I buy a few good items from Macy’s, Dillards or Sephora and I typically dont restock until I’ve used up everything I have. Makeup lasts me so long that its worth the money I spend on it. However, I have been disappointed numerous times. I have a Dior palette that I paid 60 bucks for and the quality is much lower than Urban Decay.
Everything, pretty much under $30, except palettes… $50… maybe a bit more if it’s 100% awesome.
Everything, pretty much under $30, except palettes… $50… maybe a bit more if it’s 100% awesome.
Eye Shadow: under $20
Lipstick and gloss: under $10
blush and highlighter: under $30
Foundation: under $50
Mascara: $20 or under
The only thing I wont pay a lot for is mascara but I do spend a lot on skin care
Lipstick, lip pencils and gloss $10 (Although I own a lot of MAC lipsticks)
Skin Care under $30
Shadows under $20
eye palette under $50
blush $10 (all my high end blushes don’t show up well on my skin so I stopped buying them)
Bronzer/Highlighter under $30
Mascara, brow pencils and eyeliner $7 to $25
polish under $10
Eye Shadow: Sadly, I’m guilty of shelling out $22 every now and then for UD’s single shadows if I fall in love with a unique color, since I really trust the brand and love the formula! Most of the time, though, I won’t pay above $8 for a single shadow (drugstore prices in Canada, most brands retail for $7.99, give or take).
Eye Liner: With the amount of time and money I’ve spent trying to find drugstore products that won’t disappear or melt all over my face when I apply them to the waterline, it’s worth it for me to buy a couple UD 24/7 liners that I know won’t be going anywhere (or Tarina Tarantino Eye Dream Hyperliners, which are $4 cheaper and may even do a better job).
Lipstick and Gloss: Preferably I try to stick to products under $10, but if I fall in love with a unique shade I’d be okay to splurge up to $20.
Blush and Highlighter: I don’t use. Very pale, so I have problems making either product look natural on me! I have a couple $3 ELF blushes kicking about, but I’ve only used them a few times.
Foundation: I’d pay more if needed, but as it stands, I am in love with Revlon’s ColorStay foundation and I can find it for $12 on sale.
Mascara: $10 or under. Usually I’ll buy it on sale for $5 or less, and stash it until it’s needed.
Nail Polish: $5, since I have to remove it every other day for work anyways!
Brushes: $5. ELF is really a godsend here! Their studio line of brushes is phenomenal, and I couldn’t picture myself paying (sometimes 10x) more for tools that would probably preform on par with them!
My comfortable price point not only changes in type of products, but also changes depending on the brand 🙂 For example I will never pay 50-60 dollars for a foundation from Avon, but I would definitely pay that for a foundation from Lancome/Dior.. So I can’t exactly set a price point :S But I can definitely say that my comfortable price point is much muuuch higher in skincare, I would do anything to make my skin comfortable 🙂
For me, it really depends on the product since I like both drugstore and higher-end products. For lipstick and lipgloss, no more than about $20; for blush, about $25 (I’m thinking of Tarte blushes here); for single eyeshadows, I won’t spend very much since I prefer to buy palettes; for nail polishes, no more than $8-10; and lastly, for eyeshadow or combination palettes, no more than about $50 unless it’s something very, very special. For mascara and foundation, I usually stick with drugstore brands and spend no more than $10 on each of them since I don’t wear a lot of foundation and sometimes skip mascara.
For single makeup items (IE no palettes or even eye shadow duos), I don’t consider anything above $25 “comfortable.” Maybe $30 for foundation. That doesn’t mean I won’t spend more than that, but that arbitrary line marks the point at which I start hemming and hawing over whether or not any product could be worth the money. And to me at least, the answer is usually no. A $50 foundation might be better than a <$25 foundation, but the question in my brain is usually whether it’s really better to me than being able to buy a cheaper foundation AND a lipgloss or two for the same price. There are very few products that pass that test.
My “comfortable” limit for nail polish is somewhere between $10-15. I prefer under $10, but polishes in the $10-15 range are still low enough for me to buy them on impulse occasionally. With the exception of a few RBLs every now and then, I never break out of my nail polish price comfort zone. Even as a nail junkie with a hoarders worthy polish collection, I can’t understand people who buy from $20+ brands like Chanel. Their polishes are nice, but not THAT nice.
I try to only buy drugstore makeup when it is on sale. Usually, it is buy one get one 50% off. Sometimes, it’s 30% off each item. If possible, I’ll try and get a coupon from the manufacturer’s website.
As for higher end, I haven’t set exact limits. I am constantly amazing myself with what i am willing to spend. I recently spent $34 on a Nars bronzer and there was a time that I would have found that price outrageous.
The following seems to be my limit so far but it could go up:
Eyeshadow single: $20
Eyeshadow duo:$33
blush: $27
lip color: $24
eye liner: $20
foundation:$40
primer: $30
mascara: $10 (I don’t buy HE mascara)
Miscellaneous: $30
I’m at the point where I still find the price points for Chanel, Guerlain, Hourglass, and other similarly priced products too much.
I don’t like to spend too much on makeup since I’ve found that high end/expensive does not necessarily mean better.
Lipstick- $15
Eyeshadoe single- $10
High end Palette $50
foundation- $20
eyeliner- $15. Prestige liquid liner is no different than my MAC one and stays on all day!
Nail polish- $8. Won’t spend more than OPI or Essie and even then, I prefer $6 china glaze and finding OPI and Essie sales.
blush- $20 only because some brands tend to not last long or don’t have the right texture. I’m loving Lancome blush but its a bit more than I like to pay for blush..I make an exception for that!
primer- I love elf’s eyelid primer for $1! Works just as well as my $20 UD primer
This is going to sound weird, but I don’t have a comfortable pricepoint! Its only after a while of using a product that I actually start to feel comfortable, but there’s always a period of aftershock.
Afterwards, if I’m using it every day and loving it, I’ll come to feel that it has been money well spent. If I feel I could have done better or don’t use a product much/find it troublesome to use, I’ll consider it a waste, even if it wasn’t that expensive.
