What’s one spring makeup trend you can’t fall in love with? How come?

I can’t get too into pastels–I like them, but I don’t find them to look so nice on me sometimes.

Wholeheartedly, 100%, strongly agree…pastels just don’t cut it for me either. Not only are they unflattering on me but seems like such a waste of money and effort to have something NOT show up well? If I want soft, subtle or nude there are enough options with better colors! Keep up the great work, thanks for everything you do! 🙂

I reeaalllyy do not like the trend of one crazy eye shadow on the lid. like bright neon blue, or fuscia! i just dont think that is is flattering!

On nails, it’s a fun look but not something I go for typically (although I think the neon coral, OPI Flip Flop Fantasyis beautiful). Neon colours on eyes are a no for me though. 🙂

i cannot for the life of me get into the hot pinks and fuchsia as everyday lip colors for summer…… things like impassioned and lady danger just dont look good on my super fair (nw15) skin and my tiny lips:D

I’m always annoyed by the whole push for everyone to wear sunblock sunblock sunblock or they will die of a horrible cancer, and then immediately have the company try to sell me a bronzer, presumably so I can LOOK like I’m not intelligent enough or capable enough to remember to use it.

Either sunkissed is GOOD and lay off the anticancer diatribe or sunkissed is bad and please give me products to enhance that fair complexion & show the world I take care of my skin. If pale is smart, why am I supposed to want to look stupid??

Marketing fail.

I’m the same about pastels. I often feel they look chalky (even in higher end brands) but mostly because I don’t have the correct skintone to pull them off, haha.

Pastels are hard to love. I’m reminded of Easter and being 10. lol

They do however look good on me being so fair but the new MAC Quite Cute collection remind of Ganguro fashion and that look is just to shocking to pull off if you have a more tan skintone. >__<

no bold colours. i’d look like a friggin clown if i tried to pull that off.
aaaand no, nothing red or pink around the eyes. never ever. i tried it and it looked like i had a very severe pink eye. not so cute.

I feel like I can do some pastels.. but not matte. There needs to be some shimmer. I really prefer to wear other looks though. I actually think spring is my favorite time to experiment with makeup. I’ll try almost anything and if it doesn’t look very good.. oh well, I don’t really care what anyone thinks and I just won’t wear that look again.

One trend i noticed recently is this harsh delineation of shadow between the dark lid color and the brow highlighter. I dig a smoked eye. but BLEND, people, BLEND.. Think the Amy Winehouse black liner with this horrible white shadow under the brow.. YUCK! What is that?!!

Hend Avatar

In this spring’s collections , I have seen a lot of bright coral lipsticks !
I would never be able to pull that off
unless its like really hot and i’m on a beach party !
I also can’t stand colored mascara !
really ! what is attractive about purple lashes !

Pastel lip colors….matte pastel eyecolors…’80s neon makeup and pink/red eyecolors. I do love KVD Bloodletting..I think ‘cuz It’s really purple on me.

Speaking ok ’80s…I’m currently obsessed with Hard Candy’s colored fiber mascaras…it just looks like I have purple or blue eyeliner on when I open my eyes wide! Love.

Really? Everyone does like pastels? I was surprised and extremely happy to find that pastels–especially lavender, look sooo amazing on me. I have light asian skintone with a semi-monolid. In fact, pastel pink and lavender bring out my brown eyes like nothing else.

Spring trend I can’t get into: Anything smashbox puts out. Why does their brand always clash with my taste?

Vincent Avatar

Probaly “wearable” looks, like browns and any neutral colors. I think neutrals are great, I just don’t like only neutral eye looks. Also the bronzer all over the face look, sorry but most people look like an Oompah-Loompah when they do that.

Kat Avatar

Pastel colours just don’t look good on me at all, which is bizarre since I’m not particularly tan. Pinks don’t work on me as well, they just play up the discolouration on my lids.

emily Avatar

Pastels suck on my skin tone. B000… it’s usually baby blues and pinks and they dont work on my warm undertoned skin. But they look really pretty in the pan! haha

Kate Avatar

I can only wear pastel lilac, so they’re out, but what I REALLY don’t go for is grey nail polish. I know it’s not exactly spring, but seriously, it just looks so BLEGH to me.

Becca Avatar

coloured mascara and I hate it when girls in my school really quickly put like light, bright frosty blue shadow all over their lids (obviously using cheap brushes and no effort) and end up looking like hookers 😛 Sadly, that happens all year round….

I have to be very careful with pastels, especially on the eyes. If I don’t have something there to balance them off, they tend to make my eyes look puffy and tired. I don’t generally need help in that department.
