Accidently started to blend my concealer out with a brush that had black eyeshadow on it and was confused why I was starting to look grey. Thankfully I was able to save the look with more concealer, a clean brush and a fair amount of powder lol.

In high school I went to MAC to get foundation matched. She put me in NW30 in Studio Fix Fluid, and I had to go to work and walk around the rest of the day like that. For reference, I’m actually an NC12 and Studio Fix Fluid is a full coverage foundation, so there was no salvaging it. I had multiple people ask me if I was having an allergic reaction, it was awful.

If there were photographic evidence, it would probably be in middle school when I wore Maybelline’s Dream Matte Mousse foundation AND reapplied it midday. No, they definitely did not have a suitably pale/neutral/desaturated shade at the time. Considering this was the era of literally slept-in eyeliner, I must have looked a mess!

The glowing white mess I was in my university graduation pictures (both the presentation of my end of university project and the big handing of diplomas). A combination of a foundation two shades lighter, a powder that “glowed” in the flash light applied all over the face and quite dark rooms (no natural light).
Should I mention everyone took photos that day and everyone tagged everyone on Facebook? 😅

Most recent? The day I wore a VERY bright, bold dark red-orange (supposedly) dry down matte lipstick from MAC back when we were still required to wear masks and had an appointment for my Remicade infusion, the nurse said I was free to remove my mask once she pulled the curtains around my cubicle. I did. She came back 10 minutes later and could barely contain herself as she politely let me know that I may want to look in my mirror…and I did so: I looked like the Joker!!!

I knew it was a no go from the beginning, because ABH eye primer by itself looked like MOM. I thought, well, it’ll probably give some vibrancy to the shadows. Uh, no. My eyes watered and I had a cascade of milk of magnesia dripping down my cheeks, highlighted with a few bits and bobs of shadow. While working in low end retail. The customers almost peed their pants. The kind ones pretended nothing was wrong. What? Binned immediately.

Two are equally embarrassing.. Back in the days when I spent weekends in the sun at the beach and got pretty tanned, I would “touch up” my tan midweek with Clinique Bronzing Gel. One day a colleague asked how come I got tanner as the week progressed and why my tan was darker on Thursday than on Monday. Then there was the business lunch where I wore Maybelline GreatLash Mascara (pink tube) and when I got back to my desk, I found major black smudges under my eyes.

If I don’t count all the years it was impossible to find foundation that came close to being pale enough to match my skin, it had to be the “Clockwork Orange Cosplay Incident.” I have blonde eyelashes that don’t really show up unless I am wearing mascara, so in the name of looking “presentable” mascara was the one makeup item I used to wear without fail at work at an in office job. At the time, I either wore mineral powder foundation or a powder sunscreen if I was not doing other makeup, and the rushed application of these meant that there was always a nice little dust cloud generated that would irritate my eyes and make them Water. I avoided running mascara by giving my eyes the drive to work to settle down and would take a minute or two to apply mascara once I got to my desk. One day I started the process and then saw the most senior manager on site making his way to a desk close to mine, so I put the mascara away before he could see it. It was not until I went into the bathroom at lunch and glanced in the mirror that I saw I had forgotten to finish and had been working and attending meetings all day with the eyelashes on one eye nice and black and defined while the lashes on the other eye disappeared. I am still a bit confused as to how my best friend/ coworker assumed I knew and didn’t tell me I looked ridiculous all morning.

My most embarrassing makeup mishap happened about a decade ago. I was in a rush as I applied my makeup that morning when I inadvertently applied lip liner onto my brows instead of using my eyebrow pencil. I learned of my mistake later in the day when I looked into a mirror only to be horrified to see my eyebrows with a pinky-red look to them. lol
