What was the last skincare product that made a difference in your routine?
I’ve been really slacking on my skincare routine (I’m REALLY lucky my skin hasn’t freaked out on me for it), so nothing lately — the slacking has been going on since January 2021!
What a great question! It’s off and on but First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream. I had a lot of texture and general funkiness going on around the right side of my jaw area. I put some on it before bed and when I woke up it was noticeably smoother and less red.
I’m hoping the Glow Recipe Strawberry Smooth serum will have a noticeable effect also! I’ve said before I’m a sucker for anything strawberry so I hope this purchase wasn’t in vain 🤪
I just tried the Peach & Lily Glass Skin Discovery kit. Oh my God! In five days I have had the best skin of my life at 45 years old. Pores have shrunk. Fine lines softened. I have never seen my skin respond to anything like this before. I’m definitely going to order the larger sizes.
What product do you think made the most difference for you?
Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair has made a huge difference in my skin.
Paula’s choice bha. The only effective product I’ve found against infamous maskne
Volition Skin Rhythm Balancing and Clearing Serum. Actually cleared up my acne and my redness. I am basically an informercial for the product.
First let me say that I so love your website and blogs! I have spent many hours looking at swatches and it has helped me decipher between brands/colors and to find similar items when they are discontinued. 🙁 Many thanks for what you do! I have found that Maelove and osea products have been game changers for me. I use the Maelove night renewer and glow serum and both products I can’t go without. My cleanser, serum and moisturizer are osea. I love all of their products, facial and body products. Plus I think they are both smaller independent businesses which I love to support.
The inkey list omega-3 water cream. I have never been a moisturizer person, only cleanser for many years. But this one works well and it’s not heavy, no sticky, no slippery, just pure moisture
My skincare routine has been a routine for many years, I’m very satisfied with it so rarely new thinks come and impress me.
I think the last big difference I’ve seen was two years ago or so, when I discovered through a mini sample the Paula’s Choice Peptides Booster. I rarely add boosters to my routine, but I was impressed by the plumping effects from the first use. I guess that as I age I appreciate anything plumping. 😅
Well, after spending 13 days at the hospital and the skilled nursing facility combined, I now have a much greater appreciation for every last one of my HG skincare products like never before! Not that I didn’t love those before, but those places have very dry, cool air, and so my skin felt dehydrated when I got home.
Glad you’re home, Nancy!
i would say:
– Clinique Moisture Surge 100H hydrator.
– Origins Mega Mushroom Relief & Resilience face serum.
– Paula’s Choice Calm Redness Relief 1% lotion exfoliator.
– The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%.
– Clinique Vitamin C Booster.
+/- some facial oil in winter for extra hydration.
Some very light sunscreen, i’ll use one at a time depending which is on sale:
– Japanese & Korean brands… (though some have too much alcohol in their products)
– Ultraviolette Clean Screen SPF 30.
– Ultraviolette Queen Screen SPF 50 serum.
– Quick Flick Quick Screen SPF 50 Prep Moisturiser.
– Alpha H Essential Moisturiser SPF 50.
– Bondi Sands Hydra SPF 50 fluid.
Now trying, & hoping it will be great ‘coz I want to reduce my skin care steps:
– Olay Luminous Vitamin C + Niacinamide serum. So far promising.
There’s been a few skincare products recently that I have used that I felt made a difference to my skin/complexion overall:
1. Inkey List HA Serum – really inexpensive, but it does make my skin feel much more smoother.
2. Weleda’s Skin Food – fabulous
3. The Ordinary’s Moroccan Argon Oil. -just really hydrates my skin.
Mad Hippie’s night cream. I get rash/hive like spots when my skin gets dry for whatever reason now. I’m simple about my skincare routine. Wash, hydrate and that’s it. It’s been a struggle to find a moisturizer that I can afford and truly hydrates my skin without getting greasy or other skin issues. I’m glad to say that my skin looks nice to me. No more visible dry patches, no red spots, no rashes. I like that I only need a little. It makes me feel like I’m a little glowy.
My newest skin care favorite product is Paula’s Choice 2% BHA. It has helped clear up some, I don’t know what to call them, under my lip and above my chin. It has also helped reduce some minor wrinkles and clear up some tiny whiteheads in my temple areas. I use several serums but mostly Caudalie for lightening spots. I use Kiehls moisturizer in winter because it seems more moisturizing than some of my other products.
I’ve also been having a hard time sticking to my routine over this past year. I don’t know if it’s the pandemic or just my mood. My skin has been putting up with the abuse, but at my age I better get on the ball, LOL.
Oh, and to answer the question, undoubtedly tretinoin. It has made such a difference in my fine lines and any acne that crops up is zapped overnight.
it’s a tie between CosRx snail serum and The Ordinary lactic acid. I’m discovering that my skin can tolerate quite a bit of acid!
It’s the Paula Choice 25% AHA + 2% BHA peeling exfoliant mask. My skin is glowy and the hyperpigmentation is fading really great , including the closed comedones on my forehead.
I changed my cleanser to Good Molecules Rosewater Cleansing Gel and so far I’ve really liked it. My skin feels clean without that tight, stripped feeling.
