What was the last product worked better for you than you expected?
NARS Climax Eyeshadow Palette! I like NARS eyeshadow, but I don’t LOVE it usually… Climax was a high point for the brand for their larger-format palettes. I’d also say YSL The Slim Matte Lipsticks, which I was prepared not to apply that well, but they are one of the best-applying silicone-heavy matte formulas I’ve tried.
HUDA Jaguar. I was intrigued by the color story but HUDA’s palettes are usually a miss for me. I was surprised by how much I liked it. The shimmers are quite stunning and unique.
I’ve had NARS eyeshadows and really love them. The Climax is my first NARS palette. It’s so good. Mattes are pigmented and blend well. The shimmers are shiny and have impact. My go to Fall palettes right now!!
I’m still impressed on how well I go along with the MAC Veluxe eyebrow pencil. I was always a fan of the teardrop tips when it comes to eyebrow pencils, I never would have believed that a classic wood pencil will allow me enough precision. I love the results and I don’t even mind I have to sharpen it!
Well, I always figured that eye creams were just glorified face creams. That is, until I discovered Youth To The People Eye Dream Cream through Tarababyz! No, this is no basic cream. It actually DOES plump up the undereye skin and smooths out my fine lines and mild crepey-ness. It actually WORKS!
Ooo, thanks for that tip Nancy!
Laura Geller Baked Balance-n-Brighten Foundation. I was wary because it was more luminous, and I thought it might emphasize my fine lines, but it doesn’t. It’s very pretty on, and it neutralizes the red from my rosacea really well. I’m very pleased.
I would have to say Maybelline’s Spice for Me lipstick – quite a few of the brand’s lipsticks that I have tried have either turned pink on me or have been underwhelming in colour. This lipstick has stayed true to its shade colour and is very comfortable to wear.
Another product is the Maybelline’s Burgundy Bar eyeshadow palette – super cheap, but with an excellent creamy/powder formula that is easy to apply, in a range of cool and soft warm neutral shades with the pops of burgundy. There is also a lovely burgundy/bronze shade too.
I don’t generally buy DS eye palettes, but after I saw this one reviewed by Muse, I thought I would give it a try. It’s been a beauty.
The Climax palette above! I’ve been pretty bored with Nars’ eye palettes lately (so much same), but Mel reviewed this, I bought it, and it came in the day before she passed, so it’s always going to have a special standing for me…which is good, because it’s GREAT. I’m so happy with this one. It’s the first eye palette I’ve bought from a major brand in a while that I absolutely love every shade/texture of, and the quality is so, so good.
Otherwise, Viseart’s Violette Etendu. I look better in purple than I thought! It doesn’t hurt that half of it is pretty neutral.
Clinique Even Better Clinical Serum Foundation SPF 20, truly shocked. Foundations seemed to be improving for the past two years. It seems like everyone should be able to find either the right color and texture by now. If not, then someone needs to find the niche and jump on it because I have been able to find $10ish foundation as good as $50ish. (So why do I continue to stay with my favs like PMG ???)
I’m going to say the KKW eyeshadow palettes. I don’t ‘keep up’, and figured the brand was probably just a money grab, but I kept hearing good things on YouTube so I grabbed Classic and Classic Blossom at a steep sale and they are a great formula and have good depth!
