I ran Benefit Dallas through my crease, and put Becca Opal on my lids and inner corners for my Christmas Eve look. Loved it so, so, much but sadly, Dallas is not good for the eye area, I found out the hard-ish way.. Now fervently trying to find an e/s dupe!
I loved that look so much- definitely wanna try to recreate! For me, I just did a look for my birthday (last Monday) using the Pantone colors from last year (serenity and rose quartz) and it was one of my favorite looks I’ve done in a while!
One of the 1st looks I did using UD Electric Palette and KVD Alchemist together looked amazing, if I say so myself! ?
Detes: MAC Vapour browbone & inner corner, Crystal on mobile lid, UD Jilted for a transition, Urban to define crease, outer lid and lower lashline, KVD Amethyst over MAC Crystal and over into UD Urban where it had been blended over into Crystal. Then a cat-eye using a purple felt-tip liner I got in my Ipsy bag, Hikori Iris. ?
That look sounds beautiful! I’ve also had great success using shades from the Alchemist palette over other shadows (Coloured Raine and Laura Mercier from the Editorial Clays palette) 🙂
This is difficult as I have worn so many lately that I love. I can narrow it down to two separate looks.
1. The first is Coloured Raine’s “Side of Olives” over the lid with a deep brown from a Morphe palette 35K Color Coffee blended in the outer V and lightly through the crease with a gold shadow from the BH Cosmetics Wild and Alluring palette in the inner tear duct area.
2. My second favorite look is one I do often and is simple. I use a black pencil over the outer third of my lid smudging and blending it lightly into the crease. Then I use Ellis Faas E301 Antique Silver over the remainder of the moveable lid and blend the black and silver together where they meet over the lid. Sometimes I will use a colored matte transition shade just above the black from the pencil to make the look pop but the silvery color is very shiny so I only use another color if I am trying to tie a color into the look. In particular I like to add a burgundy or red above the crease peaking out from the black.
I also love to do eyeshadow looks with silver (over the inner 2/3 of my lid) and black (in the outer V). So elegant, and brings out all the colors in my dark hazel eyes.
And I also love Coloured Raine Side of Olives 🙂
Using silver with black creates such a classic look, IMO. I love the Coloured Raine Queen of Hearts palette and the individual shadows also. They are so soft and blend so well. Sounds like we have similar taste!
I bought the Ellis Faas Antique Silver pen on a whim when Beauty.com had their final going-out-of-business sale. I had no idea what I was getting except what I read in the reviews. It is simply gorgeous, both the product and the packaging! I was so glad to read about how you use it.
Glad you like it. I have found it to be very versatile. I sometimes just use it over the moveable lid and don’t do anything into the crease just for a pretty wash of shimmery silver. I also use a really white highlighter with a silver shift into the inner one third and then put the Ellis Faas over the outer 2/3. Really pretty wintery look.

Combined bronze with taupe the other day and I was surprised by how well the colors complemented each other.
Let’s see… the past two days my new Viseart Minx palette has turned out beautiful, coppery smokey eye (or russett-gold-y tone on other the day). Best thing about it, is how quickly and seamlessly the shades blend making quick work of a look that seems far more intricate.
That’s a beautiful palette and those shades would look lovely on you.
From the Modern Renaissance palette, I used Tempera on the brow bone, Raw Sienna in the crease as a transition shade, Primavera on the lid, Venetian Red on the outer third of the lid, darkened a bit with Cypress Umber, and Vermeer in the inner corner. Got several compliments at work! I <3 that palette so much.
I loved that look on you too! You made it look so effortless and yet every color stood out so beautifully! My favorite combo — well, that’s a tough choice. I just did TWO that I really loved: One was from the new Colourpop pressed shadow relesase — I used Locked and Loaded, Paper Tiger, Making Moves and Stay Golden. Beautiful sunset eye! The other one I used Star and Gloom from the KVD Pastel Goth Palette, as well as the deeper cool green from the Viseart Dark Mattes palette. I usually love green more but that sunset eye gave me so much joy!
Also, while it’s on my mind, quick update on the new Wet N Wild foundation: I like it — matte finish, dries fast so I’d say either work in sections, use an oil, or maybe a hydrating primer. Also enjoy the powder! Doesn’t emphasize lines and stuff like some do. (at least it didn’t on me!)
I’ve also tried the WnW foundation. The color wasn’t a complete match, but still wearable. I also thought it dried fast. I did not wear it over a primer. No problem with it settling into creases, no oxidation. It didn’t wear as long as my MAC, but then again it didn’t cost as much. Nice alternative for those on a budget.
I am having a moment (maybe a month) with Urban Decay’s Vice 4 palette. Yesterday I wore and loved the following look: Bones from crease to brow bone, Discreet into crease and then deepen with Bitter, Crowbar on mobile lid (applied damp with Fix +), Robbery to soften edges of Crowbar, and Delete in Outer V and under lower lash line.
I’ve had a lot of good luck with my new palettes, but a look from the day before yesterday really stands out. I used Laura Mercier Eye Basics in Flax as a base from lashes to brows, then did a bright, shiny teal smoky eye by applying and smoking out the blackened blue shade from her Editorial Eye Palette Intense Clays on my lids, through the crease and fading out over the hoods of my eyelids, then applying (blue) saphyre from the Kat Von D Alchemist Holographic palette over that with a fluffy blending brush. I lined my lower lashes with a thick line of Saphyre first, then a thinner line of the blackened blue over it on the outer third, smudged in. I tightlined with Marc Jacobs fineliner in black. I don’t even usually especially like teal eye shadow on myself (I think it clashes with the olive green in my dark hazel eyes), but this was stunningly beautiful. I want to try (ultra-violet) amethyst over the blackened black, and (pink) opal over the blackened brown, too!

I wasn’t sure what would look good with Typhoon for transition/crease/outer V, so I was really pleased that what I tried worked so well!
Notoriously Morbid .44 Bullet on the lids, Urban Decay Password in the crease, Urban Decay Black Market on the outer corner, and Notoriously Morbid Highlighter in Osteomancy on the brow bone and inner corner.
I’ve been giving my Makeup Forever original palette some love. It’s cracked and doesn’t travel well, so I just use it at home. I used my MUFE single in Sugar Coated Candy on my brow bone (I use it almost every day).
Then I used Milk Tea on the crease, Crystalline Gray Beige on the inner lid (another single) and the Olive Gray and Celestial brown on the middle and outer lid. I blended the lid out a lot.
I own other shadows, but I always go back to Make Up Forever. I wish they didn’t keep using the same colors over and over in each new palette or I would purchase more.
I’m trying to remind myself that 3 MUFE singles seem expensive because they cost about the same as a shiny new palette. But I will use them more in the long run.
Which one is the original palette?
It’s a rectangular palette with 8 small shadows and 2 tiny brushes. It’s from 2014. If you type “Make Up Forever Artist Palette” into the search Christine’s review and photos will pop up. I hope that helps!
OMG! I wish MUFE would bring back this palette. I even like the packaging.
Urban decay Naked all over the lid and crease, buck to deepen the crease and desperation for the outer v and all 3 deeply smudged under the lower lashline, smoky eye that can be vamped up easily for the evening but is wearable in the day.
Mally eye shadow sticks. I have to be honest, I love them and keep praising them with every opportunity, however they are the only ones I’ve tried. They have just been great for me, colors, wear and performance. I have 7 shades but haven’t ventured outside of the first three shades I used yet. Reordered them when they got low.
I just looked them up and wow, these look wonderful! Such glorious shades too Which shades do you use the most?
Moonlight, smiley quartz and an older color, gunmetal. Go directly to her site. My last five came in a box for $39 vs $125 if bought separately.
I love the neutral mattes in the Coloured Raine Queen of Hearts Palette, I usually add a touch of Duchess or another of the metallics to spice it up, but it is a fabulous palette and I’m thrilled with it.
Ive been so tempted to get that palette! Do you know long it’s LE or is it until they run out of stock?
I used the top right row of the ND Star palette (Diadem & Vega minus Galaxia) with MUG Aphrodite to deepen the outer 3rd and lower lash line, and then topped my lid off w/Dose of Colors EyeDeal Duo in Shell. Those things are amazzzzzzing! I wish they made more shades or would bring back the Pink Dust one! They’re sooooo worth the $25 considering you get a colored primer that’s like an eye gloss + a pigment!
Oh & I just used the primer part of the EyeDeal Duo for inner corner highlight topped w/MUG Shimma Shimma, & also used Shimma Shimma as my brow bone highlight.
WetnWild Comfort Zone I’m not exactly crazy on greens since my eyes are hazel but experimenting gave these a try (for the price!!!) have a gold background and the entire palette is gorgeous! Oh! My!
Colourpop Koosh and Mooning. My first foray into the world of Colourpop and I love them.
I have a couple of favourites:
1. UD Busted in the crease area, with bareMinerals Spectacular on the lid, Half baked in the corner and Foxy near to the browbone
2. A complete look with the Guerlain Les Gris palette – matte grey for transition shade (beautiful colour), teal blue for the lid and the silver for the crease

I’ve loved every look I’ve created with the KVD Metal Matte palette but last week I did a look with Colourpop and my husband made a point to tell me how good my eye makeup looked. You know you did good when your man notices!

I followed a tutorial by Vintage or Tacky, on YouTube, using the Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics palette. It had Lethal in the inner and outer corners, Extra Bitter in the crease and blended out using Commando then Nude. Nude on the center of my lid and Blow just below the highest part of my browbone. I also added a touch of the Blow shade to the center of my lid and very inner eye. I tapped a brownish/plum liner on my lash line-lightly on the lower- then blended out the lower lash line using Commando and Lethal.
I really like the way it turned out. I never would have come up with the combination she put together but I think because they are all matte shades there was something natural about the look even though it essentially used orange and purple.
Hmmmm this is a challenging question but I do love a challenge, the latest eyeshadow look I did for which I got so many compliments and I must say I was very happy myself with the result was:
1. Browbone to highlight mix of KVD Shade & light eye contour palette in Latinus and Ludwin
2. Chanel cream eyeshadow 93 Mirage all over my lid and blended up to my crease
3. To top my eyelid off, I added a very old Guerlain Terracotta Secret Gold powder (coppery shade – dunno from what year (way too old probably) it is but it’s simply gorgeous. ?
4. As a subtle eyeliner I used the shade Saleos from the KVD palette.
I really enjoyed reading all of these “looks”. The creativity amazes me. I also like that we’re mixing high end and drugstore brands. Now I need to see if I can replicate them 🙂
Recently while visiting my brother in Dallas, I stopped by my favorite store, Neiman Marcus. The variety of beauty counters are like a candy store for gals. I purchased the Tom Ford Honeymoon palette and wore it that evening…what a gorgeous palette. My new favorite.
My favorite lately is the Tom Ford A/W duo using Honeymoon’s darker shades in the outer V.
I used UD ABC Gum as a transition, and then from the Mario palette, Lula, Isabel, and Violetta in the crease, Muse on the outer 1/3 of my eyelid, Kim in the middle, and Marina on the inner 1/3. I used the matte shades on my lower lashline, and elf Pinktastic Baked Blush for my inner corner highlight. I used ColourPop Honey Dude on my waterline, and some mascara, no falsies.
I wear a completely different eyeshadow combination every day, and I love all of them! Well like, yesterday’s look came out kinda patchy, but it was still a good concept.
I do a different look every day. My usual is to do a 2-color look, lid and crease, but this can very from none (just liner) to 5 colors. Hard to pin a favorite. Lately I’ve been playing with a huge palette that I got at Walgreens for 5 bucks after Xmas. It’s by L.A. Colors and has 100 shades. I have gotten through 20 of them, 2 at a time. The thing with these is that no matter what the color looks like in the pan, they all have a pearly kind of shimmer as soon as you take a brush to them. Works for me. Today I have a peach on the lid with a bronze in the crease.
It’s been a while, but I think my favorite of the past year is a dark yellow from the NYX Ombre brights palette, with the dark brown (5th one over) from Naked Basics in the crease.
I’ve been using the crap out of the ABH Modern Renaissance Palette when I’m not just throwing on CT Bette instead. The look I was using most recently was Raw Sienna all over the lid (with MAC Painterly as a primer), Burnt Orange as a transition shade, with Cyprus Umber in the outer third to smoke it out. I put Tempera in the inner corner and on the brow bone, and if I want to “omph” it up I pat Primavera in the center of the lid and sometimes the inner corner for some glitzy-glam-ness. I have like 7 go-to combos from the palette though, as I’ve found it’s surprisingly versatile!
Me too, Christine, I surprised myself with using a completely new composition for my first video demo using Kat Von D’s Pastel Goth palette and transformed it with her Alchemist Holographic palette. It was so much fun! I used Clementine, Dope, Amethyst and Opal. Came out amazing!! I even used Clementine as a cocktail with another blush for my cheeks! Bomb!! Those palettes are amaze-balls!!
