What three drugstore products would you miss the most if they were discontinued?

Maybelline Full ‘n’ Soft, L’Oreal Silkissime Eyeliners, Real Techniques Expert Face Brush (though admittedly, I was bummed at a recent version I bought was not as good as my original).

1. Maybelline Color Tattoo in nude matte (as eyeshadow base)
2. KOBO bronzers (for the perfect contour shades)
3. BELL transparent pressed powder (best soft fine milled powder)

These don’t change in my routine no matter if it’s a 5 minute makeup or a special occasion full face. All else can be replaced.

L’Oreal Voluminous mascara, and also the Infallible eyeshadows and Eucerin Q10 face cream (though I have to go to drugstores in the US to buy it). If I could squeak in one more, it would be the Maybelline Colour Tattoo shadows, though I do find they tend to get a dry-ish “skin” on the surface far too quickly.

I didn’t know that about the RT brushes….I should probably be a bit more gentle and careful with the Expert Face Brushes I do have. I recently saw a value pack of 2 or 3 of the sponges and they were a totally different colour than the originals I have and I’ve also read that the newer ones aren’t as good quality. Big mistake. I’d rather spend 2 or 3 dollars more, or even 5 dollars more (a significant amount when a product has this low a price point) rather than see the quality go down.

Maybelline Age Rewind Eraser Concealer esp neutralizer

Revlon Super Lustrous lipstick. My most purchased next to MAC.

Essence Be My Highlight. Finally got my hands on it and love it.

Maybelline Fit me concealer, Bell CC Cream and Real Techniques buffing brush. I use all of them on a daily basis and I prefer them over other high-end options.

Joyce Avatar

Excellent picks, Julia! We have similar taste. I was going to say the last 2 also, but I went with others instead lol. Was it you I read who doesn’t seem to jive well with Colourpop’a products? I feel like they’re kind of underwhelming. Maybe it’s just the ones I bought?

Julia Avatar

Great minds think alike 🙂 That was me not loving Colourpop- I just haven’t met a product from them that really works well for me -although at least they are a low-risk investment, right? The lipglosses are the most “okay” thing that I’ve gotten from them, but I still prefer other brands… can’t win ’em all!

Joy Avatar

Physician’s Formula Mineral Wear Talc Free Pressed Airbrushing Powder has now replaced my MAC Mineralized Skin Finish Natural, and I hope it never gets discountinued!
Milani Moisture Matte Lipstick in Naked
Loreal Voluminous Mascara

Jess Avatar

Totally agree about the Expert Face Brush. I feel like they’ve made multiple small changes to it over the years. I recently bought my third, and while I feel it’s a bit better than the second one I bought, neither is as good as my first one!

Mo Merrell Avatar

I am still mourning the loss of Milani lipstick color in Rose. It was perfect and gone for about 4yrs now LOL.

If they discontinued Maybelline’s dream mouse foundation in Cocoa I’d be upset. It’s my drugstore fav foundation.

Almay makeup remover pads. They are life and come in two sizes, I get the 120 pads and seriously only need one pad per removal of makeup so they last me a LONG time!

Julia Avatar

I use Maybelline’s Dream Matte Powder – they discontinued it (*sobs*) but I stocked up on eBay before they disappeared. I counted the other day and I still have a dozen stockpiled, lol! I dread the day I will have to find a new color match…

L’Oreal Age Perfect Facial Oil SPF 30; I have drier skin, so this works well for me regardless of season.

NYX Gotcha Covered; again, I have dry skin, and this is very moisturizing. It isn’t high coverage, but that isn’t a major issue for me, although it does work under other concealers if I do need more coverage.

L’Oreal Voluminous Mascara; although it’s not currently in my rotation, it is a product I consistently keep going back to, and have been using it for 25+ years.

Unfortunately, I’ve seen far too many HG DS products get DC’d over the years…

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer shade 115, L’Oréal Voluminous Mascara, and Real Techniques brushes. I’ve been hearing some people say Real Techniques brushes aren’t as good as they used to be it seems since they changed the color of the handles. I hope they didn’t change the quality too.

Eileen Avatar

When it comes to makeup and makeup tools, I wouldn’t miss a single thing. There are loads of other related personal care products, though, that I’d miss.
1. Chapstick Total Hydration 3 in 1
2. Dove body wash
3. Eucerin lotion

Jennifer Avatar

This question is so hard because it’s impossible for me to narrow down to 3, but I will try…

1. CeraVe line of moisturizers (day and night) and Hydrating Cleanser

2. Elf Waterproof Eyeliner Pen in “Coffee” — (This is only $2, and I actually prefer it over my former HG liquid liner which was Lorac Front of the Line Eyeliner @ $23 a pop!!!)

3. Essence “I Love Stage” eyeshadow base — (Works great for my mature eyelids that are normal/dry, and only costs $3.49. )

Catrice mascara, whatever the tubing one was. Ulta already d/c’d it, but bet it’s still available in Europe. Far outshone L’Oréal and had better ‘mascara benefits’ than the boots #7, that isn’t bad, but has little enhancement. Maybelline loaded bolds: big love for that range. For #3, maybe Catrice metallic gel liner. Vs. virtually anything Zoeva: brushes, liners, shadow. Glad you reviewed Z, but annoyed that the new pmt stuff did not work during the sale. Had a hard enough time on the initial order, then once I got THAT down, they changed the portal and no more go. That would really be a bummer, if it’s forever inaccessible. Vs. Garnier micellar blue cap. But, can’t say even that does a decent, easy job on CP matte lips…

Tough question! 1) E.l.f. Flawless Finish Foundation. It’s the only drugstore foundation that has a color match (Porcelain) AND doesn’t oxidize on me. (And I’m bummed that they did DC the Moisturizing Stick Foundation.) 2) Milani Rose Powder Blushes, especially Coral Cove. 3) L’oreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliners.

I would definitely miss Maybelline’s Fit Me Concealer in Cafe. It’s the BEST under eye highlight for my chocolate skin. I would miss L’Oreal’s Voluminous Million Lashes mascara and the primer (that counts as one). Finally, I’d miss Shea Moisture’s bronzer in Mandalay Dusk. That bronzer is PERFECTION! I’d cry for sure.

LaMaitresse Avatar

Seche Vite top coat, love the stuff, it’s $16.00 in Canada, I think $6.99 in Target, ridiculous price difference.
Bioderma Micellular Water, just brilliant at removing eye makeup amongst other things!
Life Brand wipes, again, brilliant at removing makeup before you do a proper cleanse.

Madame Miyagi Avatar

1- L’Oréal Double Extend Mascara in Black
2- True Match Foundation in W4
3- Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser (I use it as a makeup remover)

… am I allowed to squeeze in a fourth one? Pleeeease?
4- Reversa Anti-Wrinkle Fluid SPF15, 8% glycolic acid

Silvia Avatar

Maybelline Fit Me foundation! WetnWild Ticket to Brazil as bronzer and everything else! L’Oréal Infallible Lumy. I’m living many things drugstores Milani baked and rises blushes. Physicians Formula face poder, etc. Just do not remove anything!

Lesley Avatar

1. Olay Daily Cleansing Cloths in Sensitive (dry ones)–would literally melt down and cry over these being discontinued. Buy a 6 month supply at a time.
2. NYC Smooth Skin Loose Powder
3. WnW Matte Lipsticks in Mocha-licious and Cinnamon Spice–lasts all day over Mac Lip Primer which is unheard of for my lipstick eating self!

Lea Avatar

I don’t really go the drugstore route, but I will give an acknowledgement to the NYX Butter Glosses (I got curious after hearing about them non-stop) and my go to shave cream Cetaphil moisturizing face wash. It doesn’t irritate my skin, so I’ve used it for years and swear by it (even in the bikini line – it won’t throw off your pH).

Wendy Avatar

Olay Regenerist UV Defense Regenerating Lotion with SPF 50. I wear it every day. It’s my sunscreen, moisturizer, and primer in one. I do wear a Clinique serum under it.
And Revlon Cherries in the Snow is my all time favorite lipstick.

Calimom Avatar

I use these every single day:

1. Maybelline Age Rewind concealer
2. Coty Airspun loose powder
3. Cerave cream, which is the ONLY thing that works for the extremely dry skin on my body. I recently began using it as my facial night cream too, and my face has never been so soft.

I would seriously freak out if any of these were discontinued.

Linda Avatar

All the drugstore products I WANT(ed) to try have already apparently been discontinued or really, really hard to find:

NYX taupe blush (old version, now gone)
Maybelline Fit Me concealer (never have my shade in stock nearby)
Wet N Wild contour duos (where can you get them in Canada??!!)

Donna E. Avatar

1. Garnier Miscellar water
2. L’Oréal eye makeup remover
3. CVS cotton squares (just like the Shisedo but less expensive.
As far as makeup is concerned I keep buying, trying it out & returning items

Bibi Maizoon Avatar

Essence Be My Highlight- as good as my $$$ Cle De Peau highlighter! So finely milled it glows rather than glitters.
Maybelline Color Sensational Lipsticks- great colors, wonderfully balmy and moisturizing feel. Not as nice as my Estee Lauder lippies but certainly a bargain at less than half the price.
Rimmel Longlasting Lippies (A new find for me! What an incredibly truly longlasting formula that isn’t drying, doesn’t bleed nor feather, and fades to a lovely non-patchy stain. I could do without the cinnamon redhots/vanilla/bubblegum flavor, but oh well? What do you want for less than $6?)

Deborah S. Avatar

1. Cover Girl Lash Sensation Waterproof mascara.
2. L’Oreal Silkissamee eyeshadws.
3. NYX Jumbo eye pencil in Milk.
Honorable Mention goes to Rimmel Kate Moss lipstick.

Joy B. Avatar

Maybelline concealers and mascaras
L’oreal True Match foundations
Physician’s Formula Eye Booster Liquid Eyeliner

*No more RT purchases for me and I will not miss it. My expert face brush is still holding up but the Sculpting, Stippling and sponge only lasted 5 months for me. The eye brush set are still good.

Emily Avatar

CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser
CeraVe Foaming Cleanser
CeraVe Renewing SA Body Lotion
If I could choose more than 3, the list would still include some CeraVe!

Milani has creeped into my collection in a big way …I recommend the lipsticks (favorite combo 43 pretty natural and 51 blushing beauty, love the baked blushes [I have 7 but my favorites are Berry Amore and rose de oro…I have textured skin and they still look great], and their Every Day Eye 6 pan palettes are awesome except for the plum version.

I’m so cheatin’ I have to tell u all about Maybelline lash sensational mascara after a few days when it’s not so wet and rimmel 213 in the nude water line liner
