What new brand (in the last year or so) ended up impressing you?

Rare Beauty for sure! It seemed like a late entry from a celebrity, so it had more “cash grab” vibes, but it ended up being exceptionally well-thought out.

Totally agree!! It takes me a bit to try something from a new brand and while I like Selena, I was never a superfan, so I was really impressed how it drew me in and really seems to hit the spot on many of their products!

Of the ones I purchased, Rare Beauty for sure.
There have been others which I’ve been impressed by, which you have brought to my attention, but due to accessibility I haven’t purchased.
I’ve also been impressed by my Danessa Myricks products, but not across the board.

I recently jumped on a few products from Halsey’s About Face line. I got three eye paints and two shadow sticks, and am just super impressed. I think they could be priced down just a tad (the eye paints are small in size), but the colors are rich, energetic, and super saturated, and the vibe of the whole line is very “urban artist”. I had done yet another eye roll for yet another celebrity make up line, but now I am honestly intrigued to see what else she has to offer.

The only new-to-me beauty brand that impressed me was Sydney Grace. I wanted to try a talc-free matte shadow formula and am now a fan. I hardly ever buy from brand new beauty brands – I like to buy things from brands that have stood at least some time and trial.

Rare Beauty’s outlet is Sephora, so I’m surprised it’s not in Aus. Maybe S thinks Selena G is not well enough known down under. Makes me wonder about celebrity lines in Aus. Does Kardashian m/u (Kylie and Kim/KKW) make it across the Pacific? How about other ‘independent’ celebs?

Completely agree with Rare Beauty! I confess I was one who rolled my eyes at another celebrity brand. However, the thoughtfulness of her line and their message has impressed and doesn’t feel like a cash grab. I’ve also been impressed by Nabla, Sydney Grace and Give Me Glow Cosmetics.

I agree with you on Rare, everything I’ve tried is something that will be a standard in my beauty collection. I loved trying some Clionadh eyeshadows as well, and yay that they are Canadian! There are a few more brands that you have reviewed on my radar that I will be experimenting with this year too!

I bit the bullet and tried Hourglass for the first time since I was on the search for a mascara and brow product after many disappointments. Well, the search is over and I’m fully in love with their Caution Mascara and Arch Brow pencil! I’d like to look more into the brand once I use up more of my stash.
