Bolder, vibrant color in general – for lips and eyes in particular. More refined textures.

Definitely agree with bold colors as well, but I’ve been seeing a lot of bright nails as well besides from lips and eyes!

BTW Christine, I went to a MAC counter at a mall called “The One” in Hong Kong. The specific store used your picture to promote the MAC BB Cream and had you listed under “Popular Bloggers who use this item” with before and after pictures. Just thought you’d like to know that you’re known internationally!

I’m probably going to go back for more of the MAC Mineralize Rich Lipsticks, so next time I go I’ll definitely take a picture of it for you so you can see it! 🙂

I agree about brighter colors! More 80s-inspired colors to go with the 80s clothes that are making a comeback. Blue eyeshadow, anyone?

I’ve been seeing a lot of lines offering a return-to-90s look, brown lips (minus the audacious use of lipliner, thank God)and a barely-there eye.

I love all the color that we’ve been seeing for the past few years, and I think it will continue for a while. It just makes me worry that it’s going to be followed by the 90s brown “natural” makeup. Everything matte, brown lipstick, brown blush…I’m sure many of you remember. That’s why I’m trying to live it up while I can! I’m fully aware of how the pictures will look in 20 years and I’m going at it with reckless abandon.

I agree with Chris and in my opinion also eye liners are a new must have, as I see hear in Milan. Girls wear liners on their eyes, rather than eye shadows. Maybe they haven’ t enough time..or they are welcoming the 50s or 60s 🙂

I would love bold colors on both eyes and lips! Am I the only one who’s tired of all the naked and nude fashion? Its getting kind of annoying how everyone its this mad about nude colors! I love my naked 2 myself but this fashion has gone too far! I have way more fun with bold colors, duochromes, and highly pigmented blushes and lipsticks!

I think duochromes for eyes and maybe lips are going to return. It’ll take a little while, but by next spring/summer, it’ll be in full swing.

Ooooh duochromes are my kryptonite! Love them on eyes and nails. I’ll wear them regardless of trends…the only reason I care that they make a return is more options to choose from. Time to go back to Ramen Noodles.

Maybe it’s just my observation, but I don’t see much in the way of actual “trends”, either in makeup, fashion, or hair… I’ve opened magazines, and on one page, there will be a description of the “hottest trend”, then some pages later, there will be the complete opposite, also under the same label. I think “trends” are a thing of the past, and we live in a time where pretty much anything goes. That said, I think more “sculpted” faces are going to be prevalent, but not so much as a trend, but because it’s a look many want, and the strides made in the products available will facilitate that. Again, I don’t see it as a passing phase, but as something that will be around for some time.

That is a good point actually. There are many trends which are prevalent and this leaves it up to the individual to decide how to express themselves with a great deal of freedom and accessibility of product. I enjoy the fact we are no longer pegged into one style or trend. Denim is a good example. The major denim brands provide cuts to flatter every body type.

I’m seeing a lot of 80’s influence in makeup as well as fashion and jewelry. I really enjoy all the drama! The other night I was drooling over all the enormous and decorative earrings on Neiman Marcus with serious price tags to match. As a very tall woman, bigger scale has never been a problem and again, I love the drama.

Colored mascaras like navy blue or green.

Hopefully, we won’t see any blush used to contour the cheekbones…

Full brows since a few seasons.

Bare skin or “no make up” skin/base.

Hybrid textures : light weight but very pigmented

Reverse smoky eye

I hope your prediction is accurate, since I LOVE bold lips- For me, it absolutely livens up my face.Something about subtlety has its time and place-just not right now, and not for me.

I see alot of matchy matchy makeup in magazines and advert launches. For example, nails and eyeshadows are the same color and lips and cheeks are the same color. I do see alot of bold lips lately.
