I’m older and my skin is dry. Powder blush makes me look like leather.
Since I’ve been using less foundation I’ve found cream blushes sit better on my skin and last longer than powder. If I do a full face I still use powder, because I think it blends with my foundation better without disturbing it. If I want something that really lasts, like of I’m going out on a hot summer day, I’ll layer cream then powder.
Both are great and both have a place in my collection, which is great because I love blush!
I like using cream blush in the winter months because my skin is a little more dry and the cream formula works best. We live in a very hot and humid climate (South Louisiana) and cream blush in the warmer months is pointless lol. It will just slide right off of my face. I prefer powder blushes in the summer months. But if a cream blush claims to be waterproof, I’ll try it if I’m going on vacation….we love going on cruises and I’m always looking for long-wearing cosmetics. Otherwise, for everyday, I use cream blush in the winter, powder in the summer. 🙂
Not much, to be honest. I have a few cream blushes that are lovely colours but I find them a lot more work and more time consuming than powder blush. I really should use them more – it’s not like they take 15 minutes more to use – so to some extent it’s also habit and what’s near at hand (my cream blushes are in a drawer in my bedroom rather than in my bathroom).
I want a lighter look, or I want the ease of applying with my fingers.
Usually either a quicker option, especially if I’m using my old trusty Fenty Rose Latté since it is also good for a sunkissed coppery-bronze look. Or, when we get into our dry, hotter season for a more glowy, dewy cheek.
My cheeks are dry so I prefer a cream blush (Lisa Eldridge, ILIA) or a liquid one (Inglot). Also, I live in Eastern Canada so the weather does not help with the dryness in winter. In summer, when humidity is high, I can get away with certain powder blush formulas (Hourglass, Clinique).
Not a fan of full on cream, but I do love a good cream to powder hybrid. I like to reach for c to p hybrids when I am wearing light coverage base products. They blend seamlessly and look very natural.
I like to layer my blush. Start with the liquid NARS and then layer a powder on top. If I use powder only I spritz my face with fix+ and then apply my blush. I find that the powder blush does not last without some moisture. I really wish there were more liquid blush options. I have purchased the MAC cushion blush that I like but it does not really last long on me.
I’ll be turning 50 in August, and my skin has gone through significant changes over the past 10 years. It’s extremely dry, and the overall texture has changed too, so powder blushes just don’t work for me anymore. I first started wearing creams more often after I picked up my first NARS Multiple while in my 30s, and by the time I turned 40, cream blushes were all I was using. Not only do they wear better on my skin, the natural glow they provide is far more flattering than powder is on me now. In general, I really don’t wear much powder anymore, and powder blush is something I would never go back to.
As I get older I find cream blushes blend easier and leave almost a glow, instead of piling on powder blush and powder highlighter. It’s more forgiving on pores and fine lines and leaves a freshness that I prefer. Powder blush looks too dry on me now (at 43yrs old).
I’m a powder almost everything woman. Reason being, I find powders more fun and easier to work with. I like blending and shading and that’s not something crème anything ever did for me. So, yes, powder.
I don’t use a cream blush at all – it’s always a powder one for me. I am not a fan of the dewy kind of finish because it just ends up making me look greasy.
I’ve never used a cream blush! I never use cream anything because I’m so scared I won’t be able to blend it properly/fast enough and then have to start over. Any recommendations on beginner cream products or how-to videos?
I placed a Danessa Myricks eye palette order and was sent some sample cream blushes with it and that started my love for cream blush. Powder often disappears on me and the cream is fast, easy and lasts all day.
Even though I’m not a youngster anymore, I still have oily skin, worst in the T-zone, and normal (as they call it) to oily in the rest of the face. I rarely use cream anything, as I think it makes me look and feel oilier than I actually am.
Cream is more forgiving for combo aging skin. LYS and Tower 28 are daily use, also Fenty and Ilia. Set with Hourglass palettes and Charlotte Tilbury flawless setting spray. Moisturizing, blends different colors and products so it looks seamless, doesn’t accent texture and lasts for hours.
Hardly ever. They tend to wear off or actuate my pores. BUT, if I was doing a minimalist look for hot weather, I would use a thin cream over powder, as I feel like I prefer dewy over a powder fading away (even if the cream would eventually do the same).
