What is your favorite look that you've ever worn?

What is your favorite look that you’ve ever worn? Share the breakdown!

For me, antique golds! I’d say an antique gold on the lid, a taupe/dark brown in the crease, soft highlighter on the brow; then a subtle coral/dirty rose on cheeks paired with a red lacquered lip.

my favourite is pretty much a look i’ve been sporting often lately and i sound like a broken record because i mention it so much. :p

basically i wear whatever base/foundation i feel like at the moment, then follow with:
-neutral eyeshadows from my sleek palette
-physicians formula bamboo silk bronzer (light)
-mac by candlelight msf
-mac vegas volt lipstick
-rimmel vinyl bronze lipgloss (sunset)

the key products are by candlelight and vegas volt. i don’t know what it is but these 2 products just make me feel pretty!

Eyes: Bare study paint pot, neutral browns on the lid, crease, and outer corner (I use an oldish Maybelline quad in Mocha Motion. Not the best pigmentation but i like the combination of browns/taupes), black gel liner on the water line and top lashline, bottom lashline lined with a chartreuse-y green from the CS 88 shimmer palette (4th down, 3rd from the left). I use this green wet and it lasts ALL day. CoverGirl lashblast mascara

Cheeks: MAC Blushcrème in Lilicent, and either Lauren Luke PEach Glow from Smokey Classics Palette or Clinique Aglow.

Lips: NYX gloss (Squeeze tube with blush applicator) in Vintage

I love wearing blue eyeshadow, lightly coral or beige cheeks and lightly coral or nude lips.

I apply a shimmery white highlighter on my brown bone. Then a satiny/shimmery light blue or blue green shade on my crease. Then a dark blue on my lids. Black or brown eyeliner on both upper and lower lash line and black or brown khol powder on my upper and lower water line. Lots and lots of mascara and false eyelashes finishes my eye makeup.

Depending on the intensity of my eyes. I apply a light coral blush or a beige blush on my cheeks. Paired w/ a shiny nude beige or light coral on my lips to finish the look.

I love understated boldness. I know that sounds like a contradiction, but for me it’s all about bold makeup that altogether can look sophisticated with a little edge. Nothing too outrageous, but still interesting.

My favorite look is to rock a bare lid with thick, black-winged cake liner, a dark lip (something like a matte burgundy lipstick with a little purple like Fab Frenzy superglass on top), and since that’s all pretty much the statement I’ll just contour the face and define the brows. I like the face looking clean, but strong.

For reference, I’m NC30, black hair, dark brown eyes and ginormous lids, ha! So “thick black liner” on some women’s lids is maybe half the liner I typically do on myself.

neutral semi-smokey satin/minimal shimmer eye makeup with matte highlight
black eyeliner on tightline&waterline
thin gel eyeliner on top lash line
long dark lashes
pinkycoral blush
pinynude glossy lips

My daily look:
the highlight colour out of either Clinique’s beach plum or sunburst duo
A dark satin finish brown in the crease. (I use a few that have been depotted and I no longer know what they are.)
GOSH extreme art liner in 01 (plum)

light and with l’oreal innocent flush

and a berry lip. (changes everyday)

You should review some of the Clinique shadow. They are often over looks but there are a couple of gems. The best thing about them is that they are mistake proof. I know if I toss one of my fave duos in my bag and run out the door, I can apply the shadow with my fingers and it will still look great all day.
Sorry I got off topic.

A standard go-to that I love when I really don’t want to think about it but I know I want it to look good, is:

-swiss chocolate all over the lid
-woodwinked on the inner 2/3
-embark in the outer 3rd and crease
-Ricepaper as a highlight
-thicker than normal blacktrack fluidline
-BadGal Lash Mascara which is then covered with DiorShow Iconic for extra thick, long, full lashes
-for cheeks on this one, I’ll usually go with Sunbasque, and occasionally I’ll pair it with Trace Gold
-Nude Lip (sometimes 1N over lip conditioner to make it more sheer, and then Liquer to finish)

Christine, you’ve reminded me how much I love antique golds so I’m going to wear one today!

My favourie, and go to look, is quite boring but it always make me feel pretty is:
– Bare Study paint pot
– Dazzlelight on the lid
– Copperplate in the crease
– Blanc Type as brow highlight
– Azalea Blossom blush ombre (I hope they repromote that one day)
– Sweetie lipstick

Since so much of my makeup is trial and error, I rarely repeat looks. I have a few favorites, though, that I still get mushy seeing the pictures from, and have redone in other forms on occasion!

http://thepaintedmask.wordpress.com/2010/06/18/bright-fuchsia-purple-and-bronze/
That is one. I actually HAVE redone that one because I just love the contrasts, and the wear-ability of the eyes.

http://thepaintedmask.wordpress.com/2010/06/28/experimental-firebird-look/
That one was much less wearable, but I LOVED how it came out, adn haven’t managed to do the lower lash detailing as cleanly since!

And I love pretty much anything aqua or turquoise. Especially with somewhat dramatic, earthy red or plum lips.

I love love love grey and taupe, so grey/taupe (painterly paintpot, vanilla or naked pig, patina, era, copperplate, print and a little bit of carbon or showstopper) smoky eye with a pale pink/nude (lip eraser + fleshpot/ hue/ myth) lip and a subtle pinkish cheek (flower mist dew!!)

Phyrra Avatar

Probably something with Fyrinnae’s Digital Faerie on the lid & Faerie Glamour or Sorceress in the crease.

I did a look yesterday I really loved with Aromaleigh Elysia on the inner lid, MAC Tilt (which is like a subdued version of Faerie Glamour) for the middle lid and Urban Decay Gunmetal for the outer lid/crease.

When I was a little younger I used to wear wear bright makeup whenever I felt happy. I’d wear neutral eyes, with black mascara, a little blush, and bright, bright coral red lipstick. The brightest lipstick I could find, really. I’d smile at everyone that I’d meet. I haven’t worn lipstick that bright in a long time. I’m not quite sure why I stopped!

Wendy Avatar

My favorite look is:

MAC Just on the lid
MAC Swimming in crease
MAC Humid Outter V
Black eyeliner

MAC Peaches on Cheeks hightlighted with Stereo Rose MSF
Revlon Colorburst Liptstick in Peach (the BEST Peach lipstick ever)

I usually do my nails lime green when I wear this look too!

Ricquetta Avatar

My favourite look is oddly a matte yellow (chrome yellow) on the lid with soft brown on the crease and a nice black winged eyeliner and then gladiola lipstick on the lips with a peachy coral on the cheek…its a weird combo I know but i love it!

Erin Avatar

I love wearing Mac’s Melon pigment…wet on the lid then Mac’s cocomotion pigment in the crease. Then I like to put Mac’s vanilla pigment on the brow bone for highlight. Finishing it off with black liquid liner and Mac’s Queen bee lipglass on the lips. A light dusting of Mac Pro’s cantaloupe blush on the apples.

That is my fav look on me and I can whip it up in no time now~

Sammy Avatar

Christine your look sounds wonderful! I’ve been looking for the perfect antique gold. what color is your favorite?

My favorite look is a neutral eye with a pop of bright color on the lower lash line with peachy pink cheeks and natural lips

Jen Avatar

I’ve been wearing sable on my lid, embark blended in to the crease not to heavy, and woodwinked lightly on my brow bone, I like wearing love joy on my cheeks and sinnamon over gleam on the lips.

Cynthia M. Avatar

i love the combo of using melon pigment on lid w/ sketch in the crease and lining the lower lashline. add some deep throat blush and maybe a corally lip. there u go!

Gisele Avatar

Probably the one I did for my wedding, long ago: bronzer, fuschia lipstick, and on the eyes, I used a swirled multicolored eye shadow pencil which had soft, luminous pink, deep purple, navy, plum. The product was amazing; I could get different shades for different parts of the eyelid up to the browbone. Estee Lauder made it and it is long since gone. There was also a dark cobalt blue eyeliner with a bit of shimmer from Clinique, and my good old trusty black Professional mascara with the curved brush from Cover Girl. This look was from the mid-80’s but it is doesn’t look dated in photos. Even dear daughter says the makeup is gorgeous.

Maybe MAC can come out with the swirly pencil for eye shadow?

My Oreo look.
Blanc Type all over. Carbon in crease and outer corner. Eyeliner smudged into lashlines and on waterlines. Plum Foolery in the contours of my cheeks and C-Thru lipglass

Lisa Avatar

I think for me it would have to be a full-blown colour look that I copied off a MAC face chart. Pink Freeze on the lid, Freshwater in the crease, Juxt above Freshwater, and Ricepaper to highlight. Nars Orgasm on the cheeks and Impassioned l/s with Prrr l/g on the lips 🙂

Rachael Avatar

You did a sunset look that inspired me to use cranberry, a color I would never have used. I now wear similar look all the time. Fave!

Leti Avatar

that look sounds gorgeous, Christine! Actually, do you think you could leave here some links to similar looks you might have created in the past? 😀

Amy Avatar

Neutral eyeshadows – lately using a Chanel quad, some visible and black lashes, NARS orgasm on the cheeks, and whatever lipstick/lipgloss. By the way I think I have some kind of difficulty in choosing the right lip color…. :/

Mar Avatar

Face:
MAC Studio Finish fluid

Eyes:
e/s brow bone: beige or slightly pink. Neutral, anyway.
e/s lid: a darker beige hue
e/l: winged, black liquid liner (Revlon Colorstay or Lancome ArtLiner)
mascara: lots of it and no clumps, black (MF False Lash Effect)

Brows:
Browpencil in a light brown hue (Rimmel,’Sable’)

Cheeks:
bare or a slight pink flush

Lips:
l/s: MAC Ruby Woo

Classic 50ties pinup look!

Sarah Avatar

I like the wide-eyed look best. A shimmery light brown on the lid – which would be a shimmery nude for those with lighter skin tones -, black or brown eyeliner on the top lid, line the outer third of the lower lash line, and lots of mascara to emphasize my top & bottom eyelashes. And then a shimmery pink lip gloss.
