What do you wish you could have told your makeup loving self five years ago?

What do you wish you could have told your makeup loving self five years ago? What beauty mistakes would you rectify? What HG quests would never have to start?

.

I’d tell myself to wear some freakin’ sunscreen every day of the week! I’d also tell myself that makeup is far too addicting…

Thanks to Kim for this question!

“Groom those eyebrows!”
“Blend blend blend!”
& “Don’t sleep with your contacts in, don’t go to bed with your makeup on, and stop going to the tanning bed!”

i know a lot of people disagree and even being an aesthetician i will always tan. using a VERY good bed for a small amount of time per day clears up my skin, makes me feel healthier and everything. there’s good and bad amounts of uv exposure. so it’s not ALWAYS bad.

Definitely sunscreen, I agree with you. I’d also tell myself to not buy drugstore makeup and just save it for higher end brands that’ll treat me well and not oxidize on my skin.

Dude, you’re gonna be so broke.
Buy more nail polish so you don’t have terrible lemmings later that you could have avoided.
Put foil in your damn fluidlines!
Hoard Pleasureflush and sell at ridiculous mark-up later.

Oh yeah, and I would tell myself to go and check out Mac, since I only got into the brand about a year and a half ago. I could have bought Pleasureflush and Stereo Rose for just £19 instead of £70+. :S

“Buy some make up remover and remove your make up every night.” I used to use waterproof mascara and never remove it, so it just kept clumping when I applied a new layer – yikes!

I’m with you on the sunblock, Christine. I also would have told myself to not even socially smoke those clove cigarettes I loved so much, and are now banned in the U.S. Which if you ask me is a stupid ban. I get it, so kids don’t smoke with the added sugary flavors but cigarettes are harmful to begin, why ban one part? Plus, bans don’t lead to good things. Alcohol ban, mafia starting. Now a good thing. Off topic, but yeah I would have told myself to not smoke the few cigarettes I had while drinking in college.

1)Just because it costs more does not mean that it is better.
2)Just because it looks good in the package or on someone else does not mean it will look good or the same on you.

“Moisturize day and night!” Especially after using Proactiv (and quit using, so drying)

Try lipsticks in the MAC store before you buy it to see if it looks good on you or not (I’m looking at you, Snob!)

I would’ve told myself to go buy MAC products…I have just recently started buying & using them like crazy. I love MAC! Also, I would’ve told myself not to wear just one single eyeshadow color on my lids ONLY….blend & mix various colors! =)

Kalee Avatar

“invest in good brushes, stop using sponged applicators”
“experiment more with color, instead of charcoal grey everyday” (even though it didnt look that bad) =)
“wear blush! you look sickly without it you pale-assed bitch!”

I wish someone would have constantly reminded me the importance of sunscreen, not just for the face but for the body as well. And then that someone would just hand me a sunscreen before I protest!

I didn’t wear make up 5 years ago, so I would of told myself to give it a damn try because it really ISN’T that bad lol. If I started five years who knows what I’d be doing with myself career wise. 🙂

I would have told myself to budget funds each month for that lovely high end moisturizer I think I deserve.

1) Yes, red lipstick is great, and those eleven shades are indeed all slightly different – but you will never use them all before they go off, and you’ll have to throw them away and it will make you mad.

2) Get your eyebrows done by a professional threader and don’t touch them yourself.

3) Get some good transparent storage so you can clearly see what you have.

4) They are going to discontinue Shu’s ME Silver 945 and the replacement will be really similar but just slightly less good, so maybe try not to wear it every single freaking day.

5) If you don’t like lipgloss, just accept it. Don’t keep buying them in the hope that you’ll feel differently this time.

“My dear: You have to pluck those eyebrows”
“Do not over apply blush! You look like Snowhite”
“Do some research on color teory, babe…those colors don’t really go well together.”
“Dany…drugstore brands are ok…but there’s much more out there”

LOL and many more!!!!
