Urban Decay

I still enjoy the reformulated Vice lipsticks, and I use the 24/7 eyeliners regularly, but a lot of their new, limited edition releases have been missing for me.

I love the Naked series, especially Naked 2…discontinued; I love the Afterglow blushes, especially Bittersweet…discontinued; I love that UD was the brand that make makeup fun for me, but alas, that has been discontinued, too.

Used to be a go to eyeshadow for me. Now, rare I even look at them when in Sephora. Too many glittery shimmery wierd shades. Never a fan of the lipsticks – too drying on me. I did like an old lip pencil. I still have Nude and Nude II shadow palette and use them occasionally. They used to be a beloved brand of many. Some still swear by their eyeshadow primer. I never liked it. I like one that has lots a skin tone pigment. I need lots of skin cover-up on my lids to hide the red and blue on them. Used to use Garden Botanika primer. That went belly up. Then used Laura Geller in a pot – now discontinued. Looking for a good replacement now. Might just use a concealer for awhile.

I used to love Urban Decay. They had great eyeshadows still have good lipsticks, but the palettes have often been questionable quality, and their eyeshadow singles redo don’t seem to be as good as the OG formula.. Also, they should have made it so you could pop the shadow out of the container if you wanted to use in a self made palette. The blushes and highlighters were great, now discontinued like many of their really good products. I always loved their eyeliners, but even a lot of the newer ones haven’t reviewed very well. When the Marc Jacobs Highliners came out, I liked them better than UD’s 24/7.

I’d forgot about the whole issue of depotting or selling “pro pans” the way MAC does. For a time in the past, UD did sell empty palettes into which you could put their shadows but those empty palettes were bulky and really ugly and there was no cost saving (compared with MAC) or ability to buy a lower cost shadow format to put into the palettes. So you paid for ugly palettes and also full price for the shadows and you still had to wrestle with the singles to get them out and into their new cases. I never bothered but wondered from the get-go why they’d even do this.

I love their newest formulation of lipsticks, but I wish they would bring back the wonderful shade range of them they once had. I’m just so sad and disappointed that they can do so well, and then just after, do so poorly. Their eyeshadow peaked with the Born to Run formula. And since then the palette depth, color schemes, and overall quality have been pathetic. From a brand that has given us glimpses of wonderful products (the vice lipsticks, All Nighter primers and setting sprays, the beautiful shade ranges of years past holiday eyeshadow palettes) it’s just so disappointing to watch them release poorly developed and poorly executed concepts, one after another.

I love the lipsticks, and think I’ll like the new formulation as well, they did review well. I love the old Naked palettes, I still use 1 to 3 and Smokey, they still perform so well, these oldies.
I love 24/7 Perversion eye liner.
They used to be fun, I think, as a brand.
So that was the like, most of it DC’ed unfortunately.
Dislike, how could they go from stellar eyeshadows to ones that review so badly, why did they DC so many fun and gorgeous lipstick colours? I think they lost their identity.

I loved the original naked palette and the eyeliners are fab. They brought out far too many “naked “ palettes and limited edition palettes. The quality was poor and shades really unwearable.
I think Wendy Zomir is more interested now in her new brand and UD has fallen to the side.

Like Christine, I also still like their 24/7 liners and Vice lipsticks, though I liked the discontinued Revolution ones even more! And that brings me to what I don’t like….the way they have discontinued MOST of their BEST products – the Afterglow blushes and highlighters (how fabulous were those????), their formerly, mostly wonderful eyeshadows, the original Naked and Naked 2 and Naked Smoky palettes. Even their groundbreaking Primer Potion – the current packaging seems to combine the WORST aspects of their previous packaging for this product and the product itself doesn’t seem as “bullet proof” as it used to be. It makes me sad to see what comes along from UD these days….

I love their Naked 2 palette, and also still have one of their first lippies in a silver case called Fur (remember that?). The Black Palette was also good, as were their Face Case palettes (Rock Star, Gypsy Den, to name but a few).
Now, they’ve lost their originality and have milked the Naked theme to death, whilst discontinuing a lot of their stellar products (RIP Hotpants eyeshadow). I’m still hoping that one day they’ll return to their former glory, but that seems unlikely to be honest 🙁

It seems I’m one of the few people who still likes UD…
I like better the new formula of lipsticks and gloss, and their eyeshadow is still my favorite, I have many gold eyeshadows, but the most beautiful ones are in my Naked Honey. I love the Naked Wild West too. I’m more on the neutral side, so the Marvel palette has a good balance between neutral shades and pops of color. But my recent favorite is the Naked Cyber, I think it was thought for us who don’t like big bright bold colors, but like some sparkle without being a high impact duo chrome, and just because the colors are soft it doesn’t mean it’s a bad palette, at least on me is good pigmented and perfect for fun every day looks. Naked is my go to concealer. Also I’ve been using their eyeliners, eyeshadow primer and setting spray for years. The only thing I’m not interested now is the Wild Greens palette, just because the color story doesn’t appeal to me. Btw I think it could easily have been a Naked palette, but most people are tired of naked palettes, and I understand. Good thing is we already have so many brands for everyone.
