Marc Jacobs Beauty

Something I’ve been appreciating from the brand lately is they actually have quiet, smaller seasonal releases, though perhaps the fact that very few are talking about them suggests that’s not the most successful way to go about releasing products! I think the brand has improved their offerings from when it first debuted, so it’s nice to see that.

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! From my personal experience, I really hate the way the Highliners dry up so, so fast (before I can finish them). Fortunately, this isn’t the case with the Skinny Liners or perhaps because I only use them on my upper waterline, that makes them apply better. And I love the Skinny Liners (in black and dark blue) for intensifying how my eyes look without it being obvious. I have 3 MJ single shadows and they are wonderful. The texture of them is so satiny and – as I described them when I first got them and Christine concurred – LUSCIOUS! Not crazy about the prices (before they went on sale, that is). Now, I guess what I hate is that either Sephora is ceasing to carry almost everything from the company or MJ is discontinuing so much of their stuff (perhaps to “reformulate” to “clean” or “vegan” or lord knows what else) so not being able to get the products would be an ultimate “dislike”.

I always find it odd when people complain about the Highliners getting dry fast, when I never had issues with them… they last ages. My mom could also use hers for at least 1-2 years, and she stores makeup in the bathroom and I can guarantee she doesn’t always close the pencil well or at all. 😅

I wish mine lasted half as long. I’ve had probably 4 of them (2 minis and 2 full size) dry up in well less than a year, which is when I learned to stop saving them for “good” and just use them up until they became unusable. I liked them so much when they were new but now, I won’t buy them any more. I’ve got pencil liners from other companies that have lasted years and years, including those from Sephora which are far less expensive. I capped them tightly and carefully but I seem “cursed”.

My issue with Marc Jacobs is that the most notable item from them is the Highliner. Especially Blaquer, which is my mom’s favorite, and she rarely uses makeup; I have to make sure she has a constant supply of it.

I don’t think luxury brands do a good job with makeup, most of them are mediocre products with high markups. But I do find Marc Jacobs to be the better or them.

I like that they keep a rather clean aesthetic. The packaging is elegant and classic, but still with a modern sleek touch.
I like that they keep a rather small footprint of products, without doing a lot of useless releases.

For the quality, the prices are a little bit too high. But they do a good job usually with value and mini sets.

I don’t know what the brand strategy is, but I find in odd they don’t invest as much in marketing. I do appreciate that they appear to curate very well the influencers they work with, but in this day and age more publicity is needed.

As an odd unlike, I always hated the long thin packaging of their eyeshadow palettes.

I love the seven pan eyeshadow palettes — I had them all at one point. But I think the Air Blushes are the best Marc Jacobs Beauty product and are still one of my all time favorite blush formulas. The only dislike is that the Highliners dry out way too quickly, even before I’ve used them up.

I can’t really think of any cons about the brAnd and lately they’ve been having great sales. They are the only metallic eyeliners that I’ve liked. I love the grey and luna or is it lunar? Metallic lavender. They are subtle and work with so many of my looks. I like a softer definition that black liner usually.

I love the bronzer liked the liquid highlighter (was it dew drops)? Love those long eye shadow palettes and the gloss. Lately digging the new mascara. That’s all I’ve tried. They have excellent customer service.

I think MJ is a brand that has a more sophisticated collection and only releases a few products at a time – which is a change from all the other brands trying to outdo each other.
Like most brands, their quality varies, but they do have some standout pieces – their blushes, some eyeshadow palettes etc.
I only own one of their eyeshadows, a single green and it is beautiful. Their eye pencils look pretty good too.
My only dislike, I guess, is that they are expensive and we only get a fraction of their releases here.

Love their eyeliners for the most part and I stock up when these are on sale, which they do often enough. The foundation is a miss for me, just doesn’t last but it looks beautiful. Personally I think the primers are nice although I know some folks have to avoid that coconut oil inclusion. The price is really the only think I dislike but the site has sales very frequently for me to get around that. The mascaras are very good. The palettes have some redundant shades but I really like the slick, thin design as they are easy to store in my palette basket and they are an easy reach, and I don’t think I paid full price for any of them. I think Night Owl is my favorite palette from their line. I like the brand’s aesthetic and the packaging. I have not had issues with the liners getting dry but I occasionally have problems with the core of the liner being loose and falling forward and I have to shove that sucker back in there–but I like the twist up and no sharpener needed. Finally, I love the solid concealer–I get a good shade match and keep that sucker in my purse for touching up my T zone. MJ is my favorite luxury brand.
