Brow Gels

This is a product I always forget–but should!–use! I love when they help to set my brow hairs in place but don’t feel crunchy. When they’re crunch or heavy, they feel so weird! I tend to prefer clear brow gel as it’s easier to work with.

I personally prefer clear gel, or products which set clear. I have to have the crunch because my brows are super dense in certain areas and feel like heavy guage wire and will not stay in place without some serious gelling. Surratt brow pomade is still my favourite product, but the new Anastasia does hold well, just has more crunch factor.

I do not use coloured gels because they never seem to have strong enough hold, but I do think they can also be used as colour correctors for the brows. I have used lighter gels in the past to soften the look of my brows.

I like the idea of a product that holds my brows in place once I have brushed them into the shape I want but they don’t have enough coverage if I am between tints and have white hairs to cover. I use brown mascara instead.

I used to use tinted brow gel for 5 or so years when I had my hair dyed auburn! It was a great way to make my brows match my hair more closely without fully filling them in. I have fairly thick brows and I tend to avoid anything too bold or blocky for my brows. Now, I’m back to my natural color, and use clear gel on a daily basis for hold, and tinted gel for a bit of extra oomph if I’m doing a stronger look. I really like the ABH ones, both tinted and clear.

I need a brow gel but I have very sparse brows so only need it for the hairs at the front of my brows.. but it helps to give them enough shape to render a look.. it’s hard though because so many brow gels are either overly dark or leave your brows crunchy without keeping them lifted.I use one by Benefit that I like.

I’m definitely a fan. I have plenty of eyebrow hairs that are just a little too light to stand out against my skin, so tinted gel that gets the colour onto the hairs themselves is the best option for a ‘natural’ look that makes my expressions easier to read.
What’s more, it does double duty for effectively keeping my moustache in line for a more ‘fluffy’ style than the days where I pull out the wax and curl the ends into a full Poirot look. As I’ve said a couple of times, in a way, the moustache is the eyebrow of the mouth.

I think the versatility of brow gels is always forgotten. They can be easily be used for moustaches, beards, even filling the hair line is needed. It would be nice for brands to showcase these usages as well, not just the standard lipstick as a blush.

I use them frequently. I really like the new ABH Brow Freeze and it really works!
I also like the ABH coloured versions, I use a lighter tone often to lighten my brows, which are so much darker than my hair.

A brow gel is one of the must have products in my routine, and the first brow product I have used.

I love how easy a brow gel is to use: just brush it through the brows and they’re both set and defined. It’s a one and done product when it’s pigmented, I personally can get away with no need to use a separate pencil to fill in.

I hate when the wand is too big or the bristles too long, I find that a shorter one allows better control and less mistakes.
I also hate when the formula is too wet or clumpy, causing smudging or a big mess; or when it’s not resistant and it moves around or smudges during the day on the slightest sweat or humidity. Stiff brows are also a pet peeves.

I personally also have issues with shade ranges. I feel like there’s fewer shade options for gels. I am a dark brunette, but cooler tones suit my eyebrows; most brunette or dark brown brow gels are very warm toned, such that I have to buy lighter shade taupes.

I use a clear one every day, right now I have one from Benefit that I like a lot, I’ve mostly used ABH until I got the Benefit one in a box dedicated to the brand.
I want to like coloured brow gel, but find it hard to get the colour right, they tend to be either way too dark or too light, besides I still have to fill in all the gaps in my brows with a pencil, I use CT in Supermodel, one of very few products I repurchase.
I do need the gel as my sparse, gap filled brows also have hairs that grows in mysterious directions. 🙂

I have dark, long, thick textured multi-ethnic hair, but despite that my eyebrows are quite fine so without anything they tend to look faded against my light complexion and dark hair. On the upside they’re low maintenance, lol. Using a brow gel helps even things out a bit and make them appear more balanced with my other features. For more casual looks I’ll just use a gel and call it good but if I want something more defined then I’ll add a pencil.
