We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! At the risk of sounding melodramatic, I have to say all of the brands have become rather uneventful. There are still a few brands that I purchase from without too much hesitation, i.e. Natasha Denona and Viseart, but for the most part, my enthusiasm has waned. Yawn.

BTW late entry for your previous question about which brand might be closing shop…maybe Lime Crime? I mentioned a few others but then LC same to mind and it seemed more likely than some of the others, right there with KVD possibly.

Funny, I also though of Lime Crime a bit late. Also Illamasqua, but that would make me a bit sad. They were once a front runner for fun and interesting, but not anymore.
Lime Crime, how long has it been since they released anything? Now I have to check that out.
I know neither of these two are reviewed for different reasons, and I’ve not bought from them for ages and ages.

I think I’d agree about Pat McGrath. I only have one of her smaller palettes but I’ve always been aware – thanks to Temptalia – of her releases and I find them boring and repetitive and just way too expensive for what they deliver (lots of red and orange and pink eyeshadows, for starters). And I found this recent Bridgerton collab just to be sort of gratuitous and easy (mind you, I guess that’s good for business but to me, it just seems like a cheap cash grab…also good for business, I’m sure).

I concur! I have one palette, the platinum bronze and the shadows were so underwhelming for the cost. It was such a disappointment I’ve never considered another purchase from PMG.

All the high end brands Louth their ridiculous price’s and toxic ingredients bore me. Don’t use them. I love Sydney Grace and a few other indie brands. Better than high end eyeshadow in my opinion!

Urban Decay has been a let down with the poor eye shadow formula and boring “Naked” colors.
PML too much pink eye shadow.
Too Faced repeating the same palettes over and over.
Hindash new eye shadow palette lacked any depth, barely showed up.

Yes I agree with you about Pat M., all super repetitive or just not interesting at all to me either! Funny thing since this whole BS started and I wasn’t able to go into any make up stores and was treated like scum basically…… It really changed me on a fundamental level……. I no longer buy buy buy like before! Also I have noticed that the offerings by those brands is really bad…… before all this non sense there was alot to choose from…. too much really my head was spinning…. now its like a dust bowl out there……I don’t know if its that my rose colored glasses are off or what?? Still buying singles from a few indie brands mainly Sydney Grace…. just tryed a few singles from lethal cosmetics and also bought a couple singles from divinas cosmetics.

I admit I don’t buy much makeup the way most here do because I’m just stuck on a few of the same products but I do peruse makeup a lot and MAC and Charlotte Tilbury I don’t even bother looking at any longer. To me they are ‘lazy’ brands relying on goofy colabs or iterations.

Danielle Avatar

Agreed!

“Do you want some more pink and gold to go with your pink and gold? What about a gold shadow that’s basically like the other 75 good shadows that we’ve released?”

I hate to say it but Sydney Grace. Their Be Mine palette has an odd mishmash of muted colors and none of their monthly bundles have caught my attention yet. I’m hoping they have some exciting new products launching soon because the first 5 months have been somewhat of a snooze-fest

To me, it not just brands that have bored me – but brands that have interested me and the answer is: none really.
The brands that have most bored me this year have been: PMG ( when will Pat’s love affair with pink end?),
mostly CP – although a couple of their palettes a month or so ago were interesting, but the quality was not quite there; Urban Decay (remember the days when we would all hold our breath waiting for their new releases?); Charlotte Tilbury and Nars – Pillow Talk and Orgasm – overdone. I could go on and on……

Mariella Avatar

Oh gosh – I do remember the days of Urban Decay excitement. Even their palettes that had some clunkers in them (the fallout laden shades in so many of their palettes like the BOS 3 – I think that’s the one I have with the UD loves NYC theme) – they were so innovative, interesting and exciting. The only time I feel anything close to that anticipation these days is with Chanel releases and that’s always tainted with anxiety since I can’t easily get Chanel anywhere near me any more….

Caroline Avatar

As much as I love Charlotte Tilbury, the constant drip-drip-drip advertising bombarded with the word NEW! in the middle of every sentence is very tedious. Also. like UD’s Naked theme, CT’s Pillow Talk has been milked to death – high time it was put to bed.
Charlotte, you need to change tactic!

Actually most of the brands I get email updates from and also the ones I check regularly.
Now I guess this can be because my stash is sort of spilling over now and I don’t really feel as much want as I used to.
About PMG, I used to be so excited by her releases and now I find the brand so boring. Maybe I still would like one or two of the old palettes, but probably not. I’ve had zero interest since the Rose theme started and Bridgerton isn’t for me either.
No offence to all who love the releases I mentioned, I’m so happy we are all different with differen tastes.
CP still turns out good stuff in good quality and sometimes in shades I don’t have, and the same goes for most indie brands I follow. MAC still excites me, though they don’t release so many LE’s as they used to and maybe that’s why.

Alli Avatar

I honestly don’t get excited for releases anymore. I’m honestly over the beauty industry. I feel it no longer fits what the average person is looking for. I’m more interested in cream blush, tinted moisturizer & eyeshadow sticks. 2020 changed how I look at makeup and what was important to me. I’m much more into skincare now.

Everyone?
Weirdly, as basic as Lorac’s palette packaging has been since the redo, I am SO in to them. The formula is *chef’s kiss* and each palette has a mix of the different textures of eyeshadow AND they’re tiny pans so they fit a ton of colors in this sleek little palette while still containing a usable mirror? Yeah, I’m in to it. Everyone else though. Pink. Pink. Pink. Cheap bulky packaging. Cheap bulky packaging. Cheap bulky packaging. I’m way over it. So over it I don’t think I’ll be purchasing any new eyeshadow for a while.

Tyra Avatar

How do you like to apply the shimmer/glitter shades? I have Lorac Fairytail Forest and love the colors and textures but the shadows feel a bit scratchy while I apply with my finger and I get SO much fallout.
