What beauty products do you feel are unnecessary?

What beauty products do you feel are unnecessary? What kinds of products do you feel are just marketing/hype?

I’m still not totally sold on toner, though I do like using it.  I’m also not 100% convinced that eye cream is necessary.

I disagree to a point. Mac’s lash primer has saved my lashes. Mine would fall out two/three at a time daily. It does tend to clump my lashes so I have to comb through it. I think its the brush not the product itself.

vonnie Avatar

eye creams as well….I don’t think that it is necessary since i use a thick rich moisturizer….none of my relatives use eye creams and they all look 20 years younger than they are, so yeah, PASS

Kaylee Avatar

I agree with Shelly – eyelash primer isn’t necessary. And it has always clumped my lashes!

I also think lip plumping are pointless. 1, because my lips are already naturally [very] full (thanks momma!). 2, I see no difference before & after save for intense tingling. (too faced’s lip injection does plump out the lines my lips get when they’re dry & chapped – but doesn’t lend any true size difference)

Melissa Avatar

O lord. Half of the face products in the world are unnecessary in my opinion . . . bronzer, for starters, as I’m already quite tan. Illuminator, or under-eye cream, or any of that stuff that highlights or contours. My cheeks are too full to contour. Blush, as I’m quite pink already and don’t want to make myself pinker. And any sort of gems or fake eyelashes–I’ve never ever felt the need once I was out of middle school.

KT Avatar

I have really chubby cheeks but I can still contour! It does make a difference and really makes my cheekbones stand out. Maybe drop by a makeup counter and get a lesson in it if you’re not sure how to (if you want to, of course). I spent ages thinking my full cheeks were a curse, but when I started paying attention to them, I started getting heaps of compliments.

ravenfire Avatar

I agree, the imperfections are in the eye of the beholder, trust me nobody notices, unless of course you yourself point it out.

that is my two cents

Vijaya Avatar

I’ve read somewhere that toner is only useful to oily skin. I find eye cream 100% necessary for me, though. The area around my eyes gets SO dry whereas the rest of my skin is SO oily. Eye cream is the only thing that helps.

Meghann Avatar

Anastasia makes a nice eyebrow gel. I like the gel for holding the brows in places and to me, it looks more natural then a pencil or shadow fill.

Jessica Avatar

Lash primers and lip plumpers. I have oily skin and my toner helps to wipe away the excess that the cleanser didn’t catch. I also have tired eyes (from lack of sleep, not aging or excess sun exposure) and my eye cream helps me look awake.

Kelly C. Avatar

I guess if I had to pick something it’d be lip plumping glosses. They may help fill in lip lines, but they don’t actually make my lips BIGGER.

I will have to defend eye creams, though. My daily moisturizer is too irritating for my sensitive eyes, and having a separate cream is nice for moisture. I’m too young to say if they do anything for wrinkles (though does ANY skin product, really?) And there is no point in paying a fortune, either.

Julia Minamata Avatar

Toners for sure. Don’t see the need.

Fancy lipscrubs all also ridiculous. Use a wet face towel!

I never buy make-up remover, I just use grapeseed oil, or olive oil, or jojoba oil… Any type of oil.

Melissa Avatar

Toners. And (I’m probably gonna get hate for this one) eyelash curlers. I have ridiculously long eyelashes and curling them makes them way too crazy. So PERSONALLY I feel they are unnecessary.

I’ve never even heard of eyelash primer, so that sounds pretty unnecessary.

Bekka Avatar

Anything that claims to be anti-aging… I’m convinced it’s all just some twisted, beauty-based psychological thriller full of dirty lies and dirty, dirty money… *shifty eyes*

That, and bronzers. But I like looking pale as a porcelain doll, so of course I wouldn’t really “get” that.

condesa Avatar

Eyelash primer, for a start; then most primers make my skin super oily, therefore I skip then (when u use moisturizer and or serum + sunscreen, I think it’s primed enough!) highlighters; i use them , but not on a regular basis, I think for your daily “quick” routine they can be skipped. Lip scrubs: I use on my lips the same scrub I use on my face, and it works all the same!

Yvonne Avatar

Bronzer. Most of the pale girls who use it don’t know how to use it correctly, and in my opinion you have to apply it with an extremely light hand for it to look natural and not clown-ish.

I find bronzer to just be an overall unnessesary product for those with pale skin to use. It just looks fake, unnatural and in some cases, slutty. You should embrace your skin tone and play it up with makeup, not try to mask it.

candice Avatar

For me personally: toner, lash primer, eye cream. Also not mentioned here yet is face highlighter and brow bone highlighter bc both make me look like I’m too made up/ trying too hard.

For everyone: eye cream.

I agree that toner is useful if u wear lots of face mu!

Carrie Ann Avatar

I think that toners are great for refreshing your face in the middle of the day, but I don’t know that they’re an everyday necessity. I also think that a lot of eye creams don’t do what they claim to, but it’s very important to keep that delicate skin well moisturized if you want to prevent premature wrinkling. I’ve given up on those creams that supposedly lighten dark circles. I just use a rich cream instead. What I don’t find necessary for myself is an eyelash curler. I’ve had a makeup artist curl my lashes before and I didn’t see much of a difference. My lashes are pretty thick & long, so that may be the reason. I know a lot of people swear by them.

Monica Avatar

Well, if we’re talking what beauty products are necessary, I say skincare products are.
You could technically argue makeup in general is unnecessary. I meant we only “need” to look better to boost self-confidence, etc.

Tatum Avatar

I don’t think face primers are necessary. They don’t do a thing for me. Also, the colour correcting concealers, powders, primers, etc. don’t do a thing for me as well.

monika-luiza Avatar

eye-lid primers, I’m 29 and when I started make-up there wasn’t such thing and stil I don’t need them. I don’t like how they feel on my lid and I don’t like how they can change the finish of my e/h and make blending hard work. I don’t see creamshadows that set to powder as primers

Sam Avatar

Christine, I go to school for skin care and toners are so so so important. They’re completely underrated and I don’t think their purpose is totally understood.

Laia Avatar

Eye cream, contouring products, toners, eyelash primer… I am happy with the basic stuff, and maybe in a few years I’ll have to use some of the mentioned but definitely not now.

Elusive Avatar

I think astringents and toners are different? At least 5+ years ago when I used to use toners, I read they were often alcohol-free and were designed to restore the pH balance to your skin, whereas astringents are for removing any oily residue such as makeup and were full of alcohol.

Haven’t used the stuff in years though.

Lea Avatar

I love my eye creams, because I get quiet dry skin around that area and for me it also makes quite the difference when it comes to puffiness.

Toners are mostly useful for those with very oily skins, as some toners tighten the pores and just helps control the oil better. Those with very sensitive skin can also get toners for their skin type to calm the skin between washing it and applying moisturizer, I know at least a handful of people who use toner in that way.

I definitely think that eyelash and lip primer are mostly useless, eyelash primer just makes my lashes clumpy and lip primers are mostly overpriced lip balms.

Chester Avatar

Face primer, I use it occassionally for events but I doesn’t do anything for me as an everyday type of product. And lip plumpers. My lips are average and they do nothing on me.

Xia Avatar

Brushes that come in palettes -_- That goes for ALL eyeshadow palettes from M.A.C to Coastal Scents. Also, sponge tip applicators are kind of a no-no for me, lol.

ak Avatar

I agree that toner isn’t all that necessary. I have oily acne-prone skin and I think I’m allergic to toner that has alcohol or witch hazel (which is an alcohol) in it. I can use alcohol-free toner but anyway using cotton pad after cotton pad just annoys me.

I don’t need it anyway as I use cleansing oils that are made for removing makeup, and they’re gentle and don’t irritate. I also use a cleanser that I do recommend Perricone Citrus Face Cleanser as it cleans away all my makeup including heavy eye makeup of any kind in one fell swoop! Sounds hard to believe? Just try it out. I’m using it right now.

Other people also said eyelash primer is unnecessary and I agree with that too. It does work as I found out once, but no you don’t need to buy it and use it at all.

I must say I don’t use eye cream either.

dani Avatar

Toner is one of the most important things ever for any skincare routine. Women just dont understand it , im a skincare specialist and so many ppl dont tone but it is important to firm and tone the skin to close the porea and prime the skin for moisturiser. Eye cream is great too not as necessery unrill you see fine lines lol but serums wrk just aswel nd plus u can use a serum all over. X

Vivian Avatar

A pore is an opening in the skin that allows sebum to flow to the surface in order to keep the skin supple. However, they do not open and close like doors. If your pores appear larger than usual, it may be due to dead skin cells that have built up in the pore. This is where exfoliation comes in, as it helps remove dead skin cells and keeps the pores looking smaller and cleaner.

I’ll say this though, I find a whole bunch of many different makeup brushes such as maybe a fan brush, etc., etc., unnecessary unless you actually work as a makeup artist because you just need a few basic brushes for makeup and even this depends on the makeup you actually like putting on.

I’d say only a foundation brush, powder brush, blush brush (possibly one type or other, for contouring for instance if you do that), eyeliner brush or angled eye makeup brush, maybe two small to medium eyeshadow brush, and a lip brush.

Phew! That all sounds like a lot already, and depending on what an individual wants she (or he) may not even want most of those! If you don’t like eye makeup at all or you just don’t want to bother with it, then you don’t buy any eye makeup brushes then. If you don’t use liquid or cream types of foundation then you don’t need the foundation brush, or someple use lipstick straight from the tube and there for don’t use a lip brush.

I for instance use powder foundation so I use a large powder brush, not a foundation brush, and I’ve been using tinted moisturizer lately so I use my large powder brush for bronzer or even for my blush. I don’t even have a blush brush yet! Naughty! LOL

I do love eye makeup so I do have two or three brushes I use such as the thin angled brush, pencil brush for smoking out the eye makeup, one short bristle eyeshadow brush I use sometimes, and I used to use a long haired fluffy brush for the MAC Paint Pots but these days I mostly use my Nars eyeshadow base that has an applicator already. I use lipstick straight from the tube so I don’t have a lip brush.

Dusty Avatar

Haha someone tried to sell me toner today! I don’t really “get” toner. Don’t really believe in it. I LIKE eye creams but I don’t think you NEED one or that they differ from face creams. I just enjoy using them 🙂

Quinctia Avatar

Having a million moisturizers! I do currently switch it up between two, but that’s because one’s a bit medicated so I use that one when I breakout or am a little oilier. (I usually only get hormonal breakouts these days.) This includes eye creams. I think people get downright crazy with their eye obsessions–I’ve had smile lines since I was a small child, so I never really worried about them.

I agree with you on toner. I’ve used up a couple bottles, and I didn’t see the point unless I was very oily, and then it was just another method I could use to cut the oil. I’m just lazy and use the swipe pads when I need to now, because it’s not very often anymore.

I don’t get lip primers or using a lip pencil with most lip products. I can see needing it with a few crazy strong colors, but not for everyday wear. I can kinda see the use of eyelash primers, but since the only mascara I use is a 2-in-1 dealie, I have no reason to buy primer.

I’m not a big blush wearer, but I can kinda see why some may like it. However, I really don’t see the point of bronzer, highlighter, etc. I honestly can’t see much of a difference when people wear it, unless they overdid it.

Meghann Avatar

When I was on accutane, those face mist came in handy. My moisturizer would give out and I had on makeup so it wasn’t like I could put moisturizer on my makeup. I sprayed MAC’s mist whenever my face got to dry and it worked wonders. I like Fix+ for setting mineral powders and on my mineral shadows instead of water. I can see it gives a different finish.

Mariella Avatar

Most of the time, toner. A good cleanser should render toner pretty much unnecessary (though it is nice for a quick fresh up or in summer). Eyelash primer, definitely unnecessary for most people. I will disagree about eye creams, however. They are very necessary – I mean, think of it…what parts of the face show age first? And many face creams can cause milia or just plain be too irritating for use on the eyes (and sun protection is really important there too!)

ladykoinkoin Avatar

For me eyelash primers are almost a must. I either use eyelash primers or lenghtening mascaras.
I will go with, lip primers and maybe lip pencils (I use them sometimes, and I do see their usefulness, but it’s more of they are “not absolutely necessary).

Mel Avatar

I find most eyelash stuff unnecessary. But in general, I wonder if eye cream works too.. I started using one from a starter kit I got from Sephora and I’ve noticed absolutely nothing despite finishing the bottle… Hrm

Iolanthe Avatar

Eyelash primer – it sounds like a joke! I don’t use face primer, either, since I have sensitive skin and use mineral foundation. Honestly, after years of fighting with my skin, I would say most products meant to cure acne do more harm than good, too.

MakeupMonster Avatar

Night creams (you might as well use a heavier formula day cream at night, your skin doesn’t know the difference between night and day), eyelash primers never work for me because they clump my lashes and huge color palettes for eyes. I never use all the colors and they always end up with my favorite colors empty and the other ones not used at all…

Kate Avatar

In general, eyelash and lip primers.
Personally, both blush and bronzer are completely unnecessary for me. I’m very pale and I like it that way, so bronzer looks like my face is dirty and blush makes me look like a painted doll.

I use toner, but I have oily skin.

Adria Avatar

I think I am with you on this one, Christine. Even thought I have oily skin, I find that toners really make no difference on my skin- at least during the winter.

The summer, however, is a totally different kettle of fish!

I would generally agree about eye creams being unnecessary, especially the ones that claim to brighten dark circles, etc, etc, but I like using them because my eye area is very sensitive. In fact, I can only use certain ones, or my eyes swell up! So when I find one that moisturizes without making me look like I went a few rounds with Mike Tyson, I’m a happy camper!

Ani_BEE Avatar

Toners (to drying), Eyelash primer, false lashes. Not that I don’t use false lashes but as a daily thing it would drive me nuts. Thickening mascara are evil, having fine blonde lashes, these type of primer mascara never apply evenly and look unnatural.

Eye creams / eye serums are important but it’s not like you need to buy into the hype of the claims. It’s more important the older you get.

Have zero shape to my check bones (very round with a square jaw.), I use highlight and contour to give me some definition. Bronzer not so much either but I do have 2 of them but us them in the summer mostly because I don’t tan at all. I only use blush when i have full concealing foundation on as well.

hightea_xx Avatar

so much dislike for toner here – as an oily-skin i cannot live without it!

i’d probably say eye-cream… it’s the one thing i’ve never been consistent with, but it is nice for a little pick-me-up when you’re feeling tired!

Laurina Avatar

I don’t see the need for eye cream. All I notice is a bit more hydration around my eye area and that’s it. The drugstore creams I have been using haven’t been showing me a difference at all.

nikki c. Avatar

I use a lash primer everyday and i think it’s absolutely necessary
for me at least. it makes my lashes longer and I feel that my mascara applies better.

Steph Avatar

Oh my goodness, toner and eye cream are absolutely necessary for me! I have super oily skin, and toner sucks the oil right up so I don’t look like an oil slick. However, I do get drier around my eyes and want to prevent aging so I use an eye cream (regular moisturizer just irritates me).

As for unnecessary products, I agree with eyelash primer and limp plumpers.

Beautiful Canvas Avatar

I think double eyelid tape are unnecessary…I have no define creases but hey, it’s all good. I love makeup but it never interest me to change my feature like that and I would hate product like this make young girls who are monolids feel self-conscious, like they need to have double eyelids.

Gina Avatar

For me, toner. I use Boscia’s because it came in a kit that I got, so if I paid for it, I might as well use it. But I really have no clue what it does. Also, makeup sealers, like Benefit’s She-Laq. Maybe this is just a dry-girl talking (I’m talking flaky nose-corners dry) but I feel like if you need to “seal” your eyeliner, then you aren’t using a very good one!

Marian Avatar

Eye Cream, night cream. All that might be needed is 1 moisturizer for all areas.
Serums.Expensive and do nothing. Any kind of primer. They do absolutely nothing for me.
Toner
Hair mask. A good conditioner does just as well.
facial masks
the Clairisonic….but nobody who spent $200 on it will admit to wasting that kind of dough.
facial sprays like bottled water or Fix+, etc.
lip plumpers….all they are is an irritant.
special cloths (like Muslin) to clean or exfoliate)

Amber Avatar

eye lash primer, different shades of lip liner, i love my clear ozone one from UD! i wear it with every lip shade and it works like a charm.

Maggie Avatar

Eyelash primer, definitely. Also, neck cream. It’s such a money-making ploy. Also, I really hate the phrase “neck cream” for some reason 😛

LU Avatar

Eye cream! It helps my dryness around the eyes but nothing has worked for my dark circles. I need a toner, I see a huge difference in my combo skin when I use it, its way more balanced and helps keep my skin clear!

Caitlin Avatar

Most useless product I’ve encountered is that Benefit pencil intended specifically for the cupid’s bow. (I recognize that people have used it for a highlighter elsewhere on the face but it’s marketed for the cupid’s bow, which is just ridiculous!)

aradhana Avatar

those roll-on eye things…they feel nice, but they don’t do much for my circles 🙁

i like my toner from dr.hauschka, but it serves a different purpose than most toners on the market — it’s not intended as a cleanser, but as a lightly moisturizing skin refresher!

Nadia Avatar

I guess it’s a matter of perspective. I can’t make a blanket statement because what may be unnecessary for me might be essential for someone else.

For me personally, I find the following unnecessary:

Eyelash curlers – they do nothing. On bare eyelashes, I do see a difference between the curled side and uncurled side but once I have mascara on both eyes…the eyelashes actually looked completely identical.

Lip plumpers – I don’t need them

Face primers – I have tried them and they didn’t seem to do anything outstanding

Lip liners – apart from changing the colour of my lipstick (once I’m done blending the line in and everything), they didn’t seem to do much either. Maybe for a red lip, they are necessary but not really otherwise.

Powder – I never powder my face..I like my skin to look fresh with a natural dewy finish (I don’t have oily skin).

Chynna Avatar

Eye creams and lip plumpers. (I’ve yet to find a lip plumper that makes a difference, so I just don’t believe in them anymore.)

I don’t notice much difference with many toners, but my Clinique Acne Solutions Clarifying Lotion definitely makes a difference because of the salicylic acid. I definitely notice my forehead stays smoother when I use it and those annoying bumps form when I forget to use it.

Lisa Avatar

OMG had a slight stroke when I read your comment about eye cream. I started using eye cream when I was about 20 (I’m 41 now) and I still get carded. I really think eye cream, along with some good genes, is hugely responsible for my youthful eye area.

alexis Avatar

I completely disagree with the eyelash primer comment, I use clinique’s eyelash primer daily with mascara and it works wonders.

Charlotte Avatar

I really can’t see why people invented bronzer. It makes EVERYONE I’ve seen using it look like a roasted… roasted… roasted… Well, whatever. It just looks horrible and fake >_<

CeeBee Avatar

Well, to each their own – what works for me (my eye cream is AWESOME! and as Anita says, the older you get the more you may find you need it) may not work for you and vice versa…

Personally, I don’t use toner, eyelash primer, lip plumpers or eye makeup remover so I think they’re unnecessary.

I’m also not completely convinced about anything that claims to shrink or reduce pores (unless it’s a temporary fix that will disappear next time you wash your face but they usually don’t tell you that!) and colour correcting concealers and powders.

Beauty products I think are complete and utterly useless are rotating or vibrating mascara wands, Revlon Grow Luscious mascara (which contains absolutely nothing that will actually stimulate growth, it’s just slyly worded marketing) and any skin care product that states or otherwise implies that it can alter your genes or DNA.
They can’t.
I’m all for science being used to improve the quality and efficacy of beauty products but that is just outright lies.

Carie Avatar

Your body does repair and rebuild itself while you’re sleeping, though. The difference with night creams is that they’re usually thicker and longer lasting. I have oily skin, but I get dry patches and thicker night creams have helped more than any day cream I’ve ever used.

Amanda Avatar

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe that eye products marketed towards reducing puffiness are all gimmicky and unnecessary.

Bubbles Avatar

I get compliments on my pale skin so I’m gonna say bronzers. Blushes are almost pointless because my cheeks are rosy so I use very little.

Peggy Avatar

Must haves for me: Cleansing milk&toner(prepares wonderful skin for the moisturizer),moisturizer, eye cream, sunscreen.
As for makeup I do think that it depends on your needs.

An eye primer can be replaced with any cream or liquid eyeshadow or even a liquid consealer as it does exacly the same job.

A lip plumper will do almost the same as any peachy iridiscent or pink lipgloss!
The effect is not that permanent. Plus sometimes the unpleasant feeling is painful!
However…………………………………
If you are a lucky person and you have long lashes, fool lips and flawless skin then all makeup stuff is useless!!!!!!!
But since the majority of people don’t have those alltogether then have cosmetics….

leah Avatar

False eyelash applicators because tweezers work so much better. Also eyeshaow sponge tips and lower lash mascaras. Think super sheer foundations with minimal coverage is pointless too because only people with amazing skin would be able to wear them but then why would you even need that product?

Adrienne Avatar

Never even heard of eyelash primer so that would be one.

Used to think toner was unnecessary ( I thought all toners were like that blue astringent stuff I used in middle school) Recently, I’ve been using Lush Breath of Fresh Air and Tea Tree Water, it really takes off all the makeup my cleanser didnt get and makes my skin feel fresh.

I really want to like blush, but I blush naturally and I spend a lot of time trying to cover that up. Maybe if I find a pale enough one.

Bronzer, started using my Laguna again but very very light handily and since I now have a real brush to use this will hopefully make a come back in my routine. I did think it was unnecessary because why spend a lot of time trying to match your face with your neck to throw something really dark on.

Sherri Avatar

LADIES…LADIES…LADIES….Your eyes are the first part of you body that will AGE! From the time you turn 18 you should start wearing an eye cream and moisturizer is not enough by it self. Keeping your eye area hydrated is the key. It broke my little heart to see so many people say that eye cream is not necessary. Just think of all those crows feet you will get by not using eye cream…yes your eyes look fine now but one day ur gonna look in the mirror and say “When did that get there”. You dont need an expensive eye cream either…drugstore brands are fine.

As for toner, it is used to bring the skins ph level back to normal after washing and it also removes any left over residue that cleansers can leave behind. Returning the skins ph level back to normal is important. The gold Neutrogena bar soap had the same ph level of the Ajax household cleaner….yea the powdery stuff you use to clean your kitchen and bathroom with. So yes a toner is important. I use Rosewater, its really gentle and keeps my skin hydrated.

Quinctia Avatar

Um, if hydration is the key, the only way you’ll be able to get there is by keeping your body hydrated. Your skin is a layer of dead, protein-filled cells that is protection against the elements. There’s connective tissue underneath this. There is no magic solution to keeping you from aging. Eye cream isn’t going to magic away sun damage. It’s not going to make your body produce more collagen and elastin as the dermis thins. It’s not going to replenish the small amounts of fat that the youthful face had keeping the skin taut. It can help with the dryness that can develop there as the skin tissue thins. That’s about it.

Believe me, if your skin could easily absorb all that cream and make your skin more permanently supple, you’d be in a world of trouble because it’d be absorbing all the things that could hurt you–because that’s what it exists to protect you from.

As for the second point, let’s just say, if you’re not familiar with pH, people can start attempting comparisons, and it will sound scary, but it’s not. Most things aren’t a perfectly neutral 7 (water’s considered this but can range from slightly acidic to slightly basic without hurting or changing anything). Mountain Dew is down there around 3, I’ve measured it myself with a pH meter. That’s quite in the acidic range, but it’s not burning a hole in your tongue like a swig of sulfuric acid would. (I drink Mountain Dew all the time–I only had to drop sulfuric acid on myself once.) Nearly all cleansers are going to be basic. Even though true soap is made with lye and is still basic after curing, it’s not going to be burning a hole in anything like actual lye would. That’s why it’s a scale and not Acid (bad) – Neutral (good) – Basic (bad).

Looking specifically at Ajax, it’s even got an acid in it as one of its ingredients, so it’s not like it’s exceptionally basic. The bad part about Ajax is the acidic compound with the chlorine in it–the bleaching agent–not the pH.

Yes, take care of your skin. Yes, try different products if you don’t feel like what you’re using works. But keep in mind that a lot of the people who are trying to scare you into buying specialty products are the ones selling them.

Caroline Avatar

Eyelash heaters to curl your lashes, lip scrubs, eyelash primers, & oil blotters (they don’t work on my greasy face). Toner isn’t necessary but I do use it on extra greasy days.

Meg Avatar

hmmmm eyelash primer, highlighter or illuminator… (my face is oily enough to shine lol), eye cream….

Toner it’s a must have bc it helps me with my acne!

Becca Avatar

I use LUSH’s breath of fresh air toning water twice a day, so I do find it necessary, but the point point of it is actually to add nutrients and reduce soreness, dryness and redness (I have super dry, sensitive skin) but as for a normal toner, I don’t know.
The products that I do fins unecessary are lash primer, lash curler and lip pencils and lip primers.
To me, lip primer is just a fancy name for lip balm, I NEVER use lipliner, if you have a good mascara already, you shouldn’t need a lash primer, and I have an eyelash curler, but my lashes already curl up, and I notice absolutely NO difference when I curl my lashes

Lily Avatar

The toner I`m using now really makes a difference to me. When I don`t apply toner at night before moisturizer, I find my skin really patchy the next day.

Jasmine Avatar

Bronzer. Eyelash primer. Lip primer.
Yeah, I think that’s it.
Bronzer just never looks natural.
Eyelash primer is pointless.
Lip primer is a waste of money. It’s called chapstick people!

Hannah Avatar

eyelash primers

i’ve never used an eye cream, so i don’t know if they make a difference.
I do love my toner though. But that may be because i have rather oily skin, and i heard that that’s the only skintype that really needs a toner. I definitely see a difference since i started using one.

Carie Avatar

Toner has made all the difference in my skin! I use a salicylic acid toner and it really clears up problem areas. It also eliminates oil. I don’t even wear foundation most of the time, so I don’t use it to get makeup off, just to clean my skin. I can’t live without it.
Eyelash primer is totally unnecessary to me, however.

MakeupMonster Avatar

Toner is a must have for me…
I have combination skin and I use it in the morning to take off the residue of the heavier creams or face oils I use at night.
I use one by Clinique and I can truly see and feel a difference. My makeup is easier to apply and my face looks a lot fresher and cleaner.

Virginie Avatar

deff eyelash primer, when i first saw this i was like what??! eyeshadow primer i understand ( i need it!) another is highlighter and bronzer- i think its too much.

Nadia Avatar

My eyelashes are long so i don’t need primer. Ive actually used eyelash primer on my bf and it works! lol I don’t like eyelash curlers they are a waste of time for me. i have dry skin so i only use toner in the summer. Concealer doesn’t do anything i have tried brush, finger, sponge but it looks the same as with out it. Eye creams don’t do a dramatic difference but i have noticed it makes me look more awake when I’m dog tired. Every one has different features that they want to enhance so a lot of things aren’t necessary.

genie Avatar

eyelash primer n toners are a must for me!!

eyelash primer makes my lashes longer when apply mascara and also easier when i want to remove the mascara. it protects my lashes so that they naturally grow. in a way it lengthens but u must apply occasionally to see the difference

i have large pores so basically toners are even more important than serum n emulsion to me.

OMG no you need eye cream. You have no oil glands in the eye area…it is the first area to age on your face!!! Toner is great if you wear heavier makeup…I agree with eyelash primer, along with face primer. Maybe I just havent found thr right ones?
