What are your favorite fragrances for autumn?

Tom Ford Amber Absolute and Oud Wood are two that I reach for often when the temperatures start cooling down… which will be another month away, haha.

I change my fragrance according to day or night, rather than season, since I live in a climate that is warm most of the year. When it comes to fragrance, I can be very fickle, so today’s answer could possibly be different than next week’s answer! But the following fragrances have been my favorites for most of 2018:

My two favorite daytime fragrances are Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Mandarine Basilic and Origins Ginger Essence. My two favorite nighttime fragrances are Mugler Aura and Mon Guerlain.

Mostly they come from the oldies channel: L’Heure Bleue and Mitsouko. Cappuccino by Capucci, that I think is d/c’d. And anything vetiver without the citrus.

Too funny, because I AM that old lady. Suspect I tried L’Interdit BITD, but don’t recall. I’ll Fragrantica it to see I’d it rings any bells. 7 virtues elemi vetiver is really nice for this segue into fall, but I can get so attached to both citrus and salty aquatics that I try to reserve them for summer. I also love to have scents that came out long before I was born. I do not particularly like those associated with my MGM: Shalimar is my least favorite Guerlain, and I loved Royal Secret (Monteil) until it opened in my suitcase on a plane. Oy, bad. Everything ruined by stain or permeation of the smell. Smell is memoriesor the suggestion of memories.

Burberry for Women: I know it’s hardly new or trendy, but it’s a great peach-vanilla-musk and smells divine with my chemistry.

Berdoues Assam of India: seasonal changes can’t make me give up my favorite type of fragrance (citrus), but the bright lemon in this one is balanced by earthy tea and the warmth of sandalwood. It’s like wearing a fresh cup of Earl Grey. 🙂

I know what you mean. I loved Nirvana Amethyst and was going to to get it till I tried a sample on me. My skin chemistry made it smell like I was a Cinnabon employee with a bad cigarette habit. Totally burning cigarettes on me instead of the lovely fresh tobacco scent it has on other people.

Ii wasn’t so hot on the French Grey, but it ends up smelling fantastic on me.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I love Black Opium too and I don’t *think* it makes me smell like B.O. (I’d better ask those around me ?) and maybe 17 years ago now, when I was first dating my husband, I bought T.M. Angel and loved it so much but it absolutely made me smell like B.O.!! However, I retried it not too long ago and I don’t smell the eau de B.O. anymore ?‍♀️

I decluttered all my perfumes after the company my boyfriend worked for brought Maison Francis Kurkdjian into my country, so I’ve used only that brand for the last 5 years. I use the scent Aqua Universalis all year round, because it is literally what the name suggests, but a more fall-ish scent I use when I want something heavier is Amyris.

i’m not much of a fragrance person, but I’ve tried Joy by Jean Patou (hmmm okay) and L’Interdit by Givenchy (better, but I think I smell like a rich senior, so I’m not sure I’ll go there), so with that said, I’ll stick with Guerlain’s Agua Allegoria Bergamote Calabria from this past spring/summer.

Like others, I don’t switch up my fragrances for seasons but I have been loving Byredo Mojave Ghost.

If we’re including candle scents, I am utterly obsessed with Marshmallow Fireside from B&BW. If they would make that into some sort of body spray or mist, I’d be in trouble!

Currently since it’s over 90 degrees here, I’m still wearing my Bulgari Green Tea (“au the Vert”), which is my more summery/spring fragrance. For fall into winter, I usually rely on Bulgari Red Tea (“Au The Rouge”).

I was so intrigued and so wary of Black Orchid back when I first read about it. It sounded so perfect for me, but then people used the word “truffle” to describe it and I absolutely despise truffles (the fungus, not the chocolate!).

I did wind up trying Black Orchid and it started out nice at first, but with my chemistry, it turned so bad that I scrubbed my wrist raw to get it off!!!

Side note: I do rotate fragrances seasonally, and this post has inspired me to switch over to my fall fragrances and put all the spring/summer stuff away! Hello fall!

I don’t have a lot of fragrance. For most of my 38 year nursing career I didn’t wear fragrance out of respect for my patients. I primarily did ICU where a lot of patients have respiratory problems. Now I don’t do pt care so I wear something like like Miracle or Issey Mikyati.

I did purchase Elizabeth and James Nirvana Bourbon and will probably wear it some but not at work.

I like some heavy perfumes but I never reach for them. I did belong to scentbox and scentbird for a couple of months and got some good stuff.
I got Tom Ford Black something and white orchid I think? Very heavy.

I recently smelled Tori Burch Relentless Love..something like that and it was delicious. I want to purchase it.

I have three: Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir because it is crisp and tar. Etat Libre d’Orange Tilda Swinton Like This because it actually has a pumpkin note! And the ginger-y note in Bulgari Blu Notte is amazing!

Serge Lutens Un Bois Vanille – great everyday Autumn fragrance that balances Oriental & Gourmand notes
Pink Sugar- this is my totally obnoxi00ous & slightly scary Halloween scent, candy & carnival rides
Laura Biagiotti’s Roma for Women- gorgeous Oriental with warm (but well behaved animalic notes) perfect for foggy days
Coco Mademoiselle- classic modern Oriental, my ‘work appropriate’ fragrance for Fall

I’m just not ready to give up my summer fragrance yet!! This summer was the summer of Maya by Tocca. I almost never wear florals but I had to ask for a sample at Sephora anyway because it’s my daughter’s name. Well, wearing it around the mall I couldn’t stop smelling my wrists and simply had to go back in and buy the rollerball. It smells so clean and floral-y that it was a total pick-me up in our deathly summer weather. I’m almost out of it and I want to buy another bottle but I know I should just wait until next summer.

When I do switch it will be My Guerlain, E&J Bourbon or Amethyst, Black Opium, or Donna Karan Cashmere Mist. I do love my perfumes.
