OMG aren’t you LOVING those?! I think they do better than paint pots as a long-lasting eyeshadow base personally… I love them all except for the purple one, which looks AMAZING in the pot but comes out kind of sheer and streaky I think… Do you have the purple one/have you had the same issues? I want to do a video on them SO BAD!!!! Oh but wait. I have no computer :/ Not until next week sometime. DO YOU KNOW HOW CRAZY THIS IS MAKING ME?! le sigh…
LOL. As crazy as I would be. Except nothing would stop me from having a computer up and running immediately, LOL. Thank goodness my dad is my tech support for that kind of thing!
i like the maybelline cream shadows you mentioned, the loreal infallible 24 hr shadows are acutally very close to the giorgio armani ETK, i love revlon’s lipsticks as dupes of mac lipsticks, with such a vast shade range and amazing quality, they shouldnt be overlooked. wet n wild cream liner is a good dupe for mac’s blacktrack fluidline. and wet n wild eyeshadows are *better* than mac’s 🙂

When I sent this question in I was honestly trying to buy drugstore but I have spent soooo much on high end I mentally can’t get past it!

I 100% agree..i have very few drugstore items i actually enjoy. i just prefer to stick with high end.
It is quite brave to admit, because it’s not so likable, but I know what you mean. We are crazy though.
On the other end of the spectrum, I don’t see the value in a high-end product if I can spend less on something that performs just as well. (Assuming the packaging isn’t a out and out failure.)
I’m a huge Urban Decay junkie, but you’ll never see me grabbing their eyepencils in the basic colors I can buy in the drugstore dupes–might as well save money there and buy the more unique products at UD prices.
For me Drugstore foundation just isn’t worth it bur high end = high quality doesn’t for the most part applies with me. I’ve had better luck with brands that all about quality over the “label” but there are ones you have to order over the phone and online. The fact that a lot of drug store brands are putting out product that do out preform more Sephora brands is a nice change from my previous Avoid Drugstore Products mentality.
You don’t have to buy all drugstore, but only try out a few items that come highly recommended. You are missing out on a lot because there are some gems in the drugstore. (Start with the Maybelline Eye Tattoos or L’Oreal Infallible Eye shadows people are mentioning. Also, generally high end mascara is a waste of money since it gets thrown out so soon, check here and maybe other sites for some reviews on drugstore mascara, there are many really good ones out there.
No need to feel guilty for having a preference, or trusting high end more. If you’re totally against buying ds, then you’ll just have to budget, and shop high end sales.
Christine, have you tried the new L’Oreal Infallible 24 Hour Eyeshadows? I’ve heard they are similar to the Armani Eyes To Kill, and the Chanel Illusion D’ombre shadows. I am curious to know your opinion. Thanks!

I can’t argue with the quality of the L’Oreal HIP Chrome or Milani Liquif’eye Pencils…they’re equivalent to UD’s, in my opinion. It’s just too bad there aren’t more colors in either brand’s formula.
Maybelline’s Gel Liner Lasting Drama is similar to Smashbox Jet set waterproof Gel Liners while Mac Fluidlines are softer and with a more jelly consistence..:)
NYX Iced Mocha for MAC Moth Brown; the WnW shadows – so many of them are amazing quality. And while Maybelline Tattoo isn’t in Canada yet (not that I have seen, anyway), L’Oreal Couleur Infallible cream shadows are reasonable dupes for (GASP) Chanel’s Illusion d’ombre.
I’m in the GTA and I found them at Walmart!

the maybelline 24 hour tattoo eyeshadow IS in canada! i live in montreal and have seen them in every pharmaprix (which is the same company as shoppers drugmart), check it out!!
I’ve bought a couple as well, from SDM and Rexall, in the GTA.
Annabelle and Sephora eyeshadow pencils compared to Urban Decay. The in some regards are made better then then the UD one.

The 24 hour tattoo eyeshadows are awesome! I have wanted to buy Chanel’s Ebloui illusion d’ombre for a while now, but I’ve been using MAC rubenesque paint pot under maybelline’s 24 hour eyeshadow in pomegranate punk. Seems pretty similar!

I love the NYX Rock ‘n Roll Trio, it has three MAC dupes! The three colors are EXACT dupes for MAC’s Nylon, Satin Taupe, and Knight Devine. The Knight Devine color dupe is also a similar (not exact) dupe for the Naked Palette color in Gunmetal
Most of my makeup is higher end mostly because drugstores near me have sucky stock…lol. I was a huge YSL Touche Eclat devotee until I tried Sleek Makeup Luminaire Highlighting Concealer. Practically the same product but Luminaire is only $10. The shipping cost is what kind of kills it though.
Milani Hip Rose lipstick for NARS Schiap
The Loreal infallible is a close dupe to Armani in its overall feel. Not an exact match. However its a really good product and u layer them over the Maybelline Tattoos, its unbudgeable.
I will say the white in the color tatoos finish is similar to Chanels illusion d’ombre when worn if used with a light hand. However the Tatoos consistency is creamy while D’Ombre is a gel like feel. In no way is Infallible close to Chanel product.

I would love to try the maybelline tattoo shadow, but I’ve had bad reactions with their moose eye shadow line before. Are they similar, Christine? =/ Anyway, my fave dupe is Milani Liquif’eye for UD 24/7 liners. Actually, i think Milani’s is better.

Wet and Wild has stepped up their game with the eyeshadows and the waterproof liquid liner that won’t come off. Nyc makes really good blush/bronzer. Milani has good shimmer bronzers, pencils, and blush. I reach for my Maybelline 24 hr stay foundation over Mac, Nars, and MUFE because it stays on longer.
