Wet ‘n’ Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio: Spoiled Brat

Wet ‘n’ Wild Spoiled Brat Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio ($2.99 for 0.12 oz.) includes a frosted light-medium silver, dark matte black with silver sparkle, and fuchsia pink with a satin-frost finish.

I had major issues with the crease shade, because I really had to pack on the color to even get a somewhat solid swatch (the image included in this post is about four layers of product).  Even in the swatch, the silver sparkles are nearly invisible. To make matters worse, the black shade fades within a few hours of wear (not that it started out particularly intense). Wet ‘n’ Wild can do frost finishes pretty well, but more matte shades like the black shade in this palette really leave something to be desired.

my thoughts on the formula: Color Icon Eyeshadows are definitely some of the best eyeshadows you’ll find in the drugstore, and this trio is, unfortunately, a bit of a mixed bag. The silver and fuchsia shade are soft, smooth, and pigmented. The black (crease) shade fades after a few hours of wear in addition to lacking pigmentation and being chalky, stiff, and difficult to work with.

I have a glittery black eyeshadow from victoria secret that I think is nice. next time you’re out at a mall/town center you should check it out.

I find it really weird that the matte shades are lacking this time around on these palettes! On the first Color Icon palettes that are permanent, the mattes are super creamy and wonderful to use. They’re so pigmented at times that they can get a little out of control!

Steph Avatar

Oh no worries, I understand! I just mean from my personal point of view, I’d still buy it for the two other colours at that price because I have a bunch of black eyeshadows. 🙂

I don’t know why the suggest that, I guess because that is how the trios are but I have seen girls on youtube putting that incredibly silvery silver as a highlight looking like a robot.

I had problems with the black shade too which is a shame because I love the glitter in it. Almost tempted to depot it and crush it up in a jar to see if that will work better.

This is probably the WnW palette I am least interested in… doesn’t look very unique at all.

However, in regards to the matte shades issue — have you ever tried the 6pan Vanity Palette? Its a neutral palette and IMO the matte shades in it are better quality than the shimmery shades, and the mattes are definitely on par with MAC or even better. Super pigmented and easy to blend

Dear Christine, I love when you review drugstore products, so much!
Could you pleaaaase review the wet n wild icon 8 pan palettes next?!It would be so great!
Thank you!!

It’s weird that the matte shades are so problematic in these palettes, I have the four 6-pan palettes that are half matte and half shimmer, and the mattes are really nice. A couple are “meh”, but the majority are great. My favourite white eyeshadow is from the Pride palette.

This reminds me of a Hard Candy eyeshadow set I got 8 or 9 years ago… I’m kind of diggin’ the silver-black-pink look, it’s taking me back to my youth!

These are just not colours I wear. The pink especially – I look like I’ve got an eye infection if I wear colours like that (plus, I just don’t like them very much).

Nah i’ll pass. not a big fan of drugstore makeup but I did like those other palette that they have. I’ve done this color cobo with y own makeup before and it did not look good (because of the black in the crease)

I have the Greed Palette by WNW, and I really like all of the matte shades featured on that palette. Only the grey glittery shade is absolutely terrible.

I just wanted to let you know that not ALL of WnW’s matte shades are terrible..

Jenny Avatar

Ooh, I love the pink and silver colors, maybe I’ll get this if they happen to have it at the drugstore next time I go. I’m glad you mentioned the crease shade’s shortcomings, so I’ll know to dig Black Tied out of my closet and use that instead. 😀

i think this is one of the best trios i have ever seen because i have been wanting a trio that has black with shimmer,a silver and a magenta..DEFINITELY BUYING!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sam Avatar

I bought color this today at Walgreens, and I really love it. I just wish the eyeshadows were not so soft, because they crack and chip really easily.

I’ve used this trio before and I must say they don’t swatch well, but these are the type of shadows that look better once you apply them correctly. I remember Wet n Wild having horrible shadows back in the old days (I’m only 22 LOL), which is one of the reasons why I went to high end brands and never looked back…. But I’m impressed that they have changed the formula into something wonderful and affordable for people who don’t want to spend big bucks on high end products… Well done!
