Valentine's Day Makeup: Soft Neutrals & Pink Lips
Valentine’s Day Makeup: Soft Neutrals & Pink Lips
So, opposite of the last look, here’s a very soft look one could wear. I call it Valentine’s Day makeup, but you could really wear it any time. I think it’s quite appropriate for a variety of occasions! I wore this to school on Wednesday, which worked for me; I was able to wear *something* but not feel out of place or too young. (I’m probably one of the younger people in my program.)
You will need the following…
- Eyes: MAC Soft Ochre paint pot (neutral beige base), (champagne pink), Too Faced Silk Teddy Eyeshadow (champagne pink), Too Faced Peach Fuzz Eyeshadow (peach-beige), Too Faced Cocoa Puff Eyeshadow (warm chocolate brown), Too Faced Teddy Bear Eyeshadow (dark mushroom brown), Too Faced Heaven Eyeshadow (matte beige), Urban Decay Underground 24/7 Liner (brown), MAC Plushlash (black)
- Face:Â Kiehl’s Tinted Moisturizer (medium)
- Cheeks: Smashbox Paradise Blush (peachy-pink)
- Lips: Urban Decay Rush Lipstick (soft pink), Chanel Pinup Glossimer (champagne gold)
- Brushes: 266 (firm, angled brush), 226 (fluffy crease brush), 219 (pointed crease brush), 214 (smudge brush), 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 129 (dense blush brush)
- Substitutes: N/A
For eyes, start by applying Soft Ochre paint pot as your eyeshadow base all over the lid with the 249. Using the 239, apply Silk Teddy eyeshadow on the inner third of the eyelid. Next, apply Peach Fuzz eyeshadow on the middle third of the eyelid and lightly blend with the inner corner. Darken the outer third of the lid with Cocoa Puff eyeshadow with the 239, gently brushing it into the lower crease. Next, define the crease by applying Teddy Bear eyeshadow with the 226. Lightly tap and brush Silk Teddy eyeshadow directly above the crease to soften. To finish the eyeshadow look, sweep Heaven eyeshadow as a highlighter on the brow bone. Bring everything together by applying Underground Liner on the lower lash line, and then sweeping lashes with Plushlash mascara.
For cheeks, apply Paradise blush to the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 116.
For lips, apply Rush lipstick first, and then layer Pinup glossimer for a soft lip look.
Very pretty! 🙂
Thanks, Anita 🙂
What would be the MAC version of these eyeshadow colors?
Retrospeck, Bisque, Cork, Espresso

LOL!! You’re too sweet, Sarah 😉 Thank you!
I love this look! It’s a shame too faced isn’t available in my country and my parents don’t let me order online… Do you maybe have some suggestions to which MAC e/s I might use instead? =)
Btw, the lips are also amazing! Why can’t I find anything to look like that on me! =)
Keep trying/looking! LOL, it’s a hard quest, but I am sure one day you will find the perfect shade!
I’d try Retrospeck, Bisque, Cork, and Espresso!
I love this look, simple but glam!!

Thanks, Sally! Aw, yay!

Thanks, Myra! I hope you get a chance to try it 🙂
Beautiful as always, such a pretty lip combo that matches your sweater 😉
Thanks a lot, Susy 🙂
Yes I LOVE how it matches your sweater!!
Thanks, Andrea!
Simple, but very pretty look!
Thanks, Chiara!
I LOVE this on you, Christine! You look so great!
Thank you 😀
Happy Friday, Christine!
so pretty…
How ironic that I did a version of this myself. But I used Bare Study pp, arena e/s on lid, soba on crease, mulled cider on outer V, teddy on lower lash line (smudged) and lots of black plush lash mascara. i did a light hand application of All’s Good blush and plum liner and resort life lip gelee on top.
I am really liking your lip combo – is that a limited Chanel gloss? I know it’s Spring when all I want to wear are pink and frosted neutral glosses.
That’s great! 🙂 Sounds very pretty. I’m excited to wear a lip gelee today, haha.
I do believe it’s permanent!
Chanel Pinup Glossimer is permanent, its one of my faves!
now this is pretty.
Thank you, Summer!
very beautiful. the natural look suites you well!
Thanks a lot, Phuong k!
i’m so in love with this look!
Thank you, Shanna!
I love this neutral look! You look so innocent. 🙂
Thanks, Joanne 😛
i love this eye look christine! thanks for using the too faced duos…i had requested that a few days ago and i really appreciate it 🙂
No problem 🙂
I noticed you use the Kiehl’s tinted moisturizer in this look as well as a bunch of others. Do you like the product? Does it provide good coverage / does it go on looking foundation-y? I am a tinted moisturizer fan because I hate the look of foundation and I’m about to run out of my Laura Mercier one, so I’d be open to trying another..
I do like it! I like it more in the winter (because it’s more moisturizing) than in summer, but it gives me good coverage and looks very natural! 🙂
I love this look!
Thanks, Alyssamae!
This is so pretty!! I like that you’ve done a bright Valentine’s Day look and this neutral one too!
Thanks, Andrea 🙂
You look BEAUTIFUL doll! Healthy glowing princess- love it! ♥
Aw, thanks a lot, Sara!
totally wearable…and beautiful
Thank you, Guriya Nazar!
This is so pretty and soft Christine! My boyfriend loves the natural look, and this is perfect for every day as well.
Thanks, Noelle! 🙂 I think my boyfriend doesn’t seem to notice either way anymore, lol!
Same here, Christine! My boyfriend doesn’t notice one bit. It’s all for me, LOL. You do look adorable, by the way. 🙂
love the total look… btw wheres ur shirt/sweater from???
It’s an old sweater from Forever 21!
This look is really classy, I have no other word for it 🙂 A soft, diffused, girly look. Loving the combo with the sweater and headband(?)!
Thank you 😀 And yes, it was a headband!
this look is so pretty! So are you! I just found your site and i’m addicted already!
Could this look also be made with the 88 shimmer palette?
I think you could — it’ll be a little more shimmery than this is, though!
Thanks, Vera!
that looks very pretty and fresh.
Thanks so much, Amy 🙂
Love this look!
Thanks, Lisa!
this is really pretty christine 🙂 it looks really nice on you! do you know where i can find the kiehl’s tinted moisturizer in canada?
Thanks, Sasha!
Does The Bay carry it? I know my Nordstrom does, and I know the Bay and Nordstrom can be similar…
I love this soft look on you! I just purchased UD Underground because of you ^_^
Aww!! Hope you love it!
I love how your eye color is like a tortoise-shell – so pretty and unique! And every single lipstick looks so great on you. Thanks for all the ideas – this one is very minimal yet it still adds polish and depth. Very nice.
Thanks so much, NY! 🙂
I love this look on you! Can you recommend a Mac dupe for the Smashbox blush? Thanks Christine!
Try Margin or maybe Springsheen!
This look is so lovely and wearable daily! 🙂
Could you pleas tell me which camera do you use to take your photos? They are also great! 🙂
Thank you! I use a Nikon D90.
I love how soft and pretty this look is!
Thanks so much, Chrissy!
Gorgeous Christine!!!!
Thank you, Lori!
wow! I absolutely love this! I can’t wait to try it myself. One of my favorites from you =)
Aw, thanks, Em!
I love this look! It’s super simple but pretty. I adore how there’s a hint of shimmer to make your eyes sparkle! The gold shimmer in the lips is super pretty too! 🙂
Thanks so much, Crystal 😀

Thanks, LRW!
I love this look on you, Christine!! Very pretty!!
Thank you, Nancy!
I will be definitely trying this look out. Great look as usual Christine:)
Thank you, Tami! Glad ya liked it!
I love this look! You look so fresh & your skin absolutely glows. Have you ever done a post on what your skincare routine is?
Thanks, Sandoz! My skincare routine changes all the time, since I’m always testing out new products!
Love this makeup, but it really not for Valentine, but it is excellent to wear it for going to work or an interview.
Really? I think this is a really good look to wear, because a lot of men (at least based on surveys and my own experience) prefer very natural, subtle makeup!
Gorgeous 🙂
Thanks, Anastasia!
This looks is SO pretty on you!!
Thanks so much, Vicky!
What a beautiful look, Christine. And the perfect name, because I would wear this look with cooler MAC shadows (like Vanilla, Shroom, Mystery and maybe Patina or Satin Taupe) on a first date.
Thanks, Nicole 🙂
I LOVE that look on you – so feminine!
Thanks, Kelly 😀
I really love how many soft and neutral looks you have been doing lately! Another beautiful one 🙂
Thanks, Martha! Glad ya liked it!
so pretty!! que bonito! 😀
Thanks a lot, Julianna!
This is a really good look for you! It’s really pretty and subtle. I’m gonna try it for sure.
Thanks, Miko! Hope you can try it!
Pretty look! I’m a new follower to this blog, and it’s very informative and exciting to read. Quick question, for someone who is starting to build thier collection up with neutrals, do you recommend this palette, or would you recommend purchasing mac e/s that are similar to this? I just have one palette from two faced, and only two e/s from mac, so I really have no idea which company has better pigmentation and blending with their e/s. Much Appreciated, and Thanks. 🙂
Hey April,
I don’t think you could go wrong either way. You could just as easily buy MAC shadows or use Too Faced — MAC shadows aren’t as soft as Too Faced, but they can be just as pigmented. If you want MAC dupes, I recommend: Retrospeck, Bisque, Cork, Espresso.
Christine, you look so fresh, youthfull and beautifull!!
I love this look very much!!
You should wear this often…
Thanks, Suheda 🙂 You would all be so bored if I did, though, lol!
This is such a beautiful flattering glowy look on you! I especially love the cheek/lip combo with your sweater – absolutely perfect! 😀
Thank you, Catherine!
Again, loving the neutral looks on you 😉
Thanks again, Danielle 🙂
Love the look, keep up the good work
Thank you!
Very pretty! This looks great on you 🙂
Thanks, Julianne! 🙂
Great look!! 1st time poster, long time reader here! Could NARS orgasm be used as a sub for the cheeks & lips?
I have similar colors in Bare Escentuals for the eyes, but I was wondering about the blush & gloss? Thanks & keep up the wonderful work!!
Thanks, Amalthea! Glad you decided to comment 🙂
Yes, I think it could!
first of all, i agree with everyone about how great a neutrals look on you.
second of all, and unrelated to makeup, you have some beautiful eyes! the color of your eye in those first couple pictures looks amazing!
Thanks, Justine! 🙂 LOL, people have told me it looks like leopard spots… I think it looks like crazy DNA or tree roots.
Wow Wow Wow! It must be such hard work replying to all these compliments hehehe 😛 you’re an inspiration daily!
I would be SO lost without this website I tell you!
Thank you so much, John 🙂
I heart that lip gloss! So subtly sparkly without going overboard – am going to purchase ASAP! Great posting, thanks for all the pics. I’m going to try out this look using my fave eye shadow called Iced Apricot by Mattify Cosmetics. It’s a beautiful light peach with a frosty tone that would look great layered under the Too Faced Silk Teddy shadow.
No problem, Shannon! 😀
Hope you got a chance to try it!
This has to be one of my favorite looks on you!!!! I will bookmark this to try it someday (maybe v day!)
xoxo
Thank you, Janine!
This is a gorgeous very sexy look I really love it it can be used on a daily basis as well so romantic oxox Melinda
Thanks, Melinda 🙂
what do you suggest for the lips by MAC?
You could try New York Apple & Russian Red Lipglass.
You just look beautiful with everything you wear. Honestly. I am very pale with light blue eyes and blonde hair, and I so easily feel “over made-up”. I sometimes think it’s much easier to wear make up when you are dark with dark eyes. Everything just goes! 🙂
Aww!
I think sometimes it’s just confidence, too. Because there are times I feel like I’m wearing a lot, but then people like it, sooo! Maybe I’m not too made up 🙂
Thank you!
this has got to be one of the most gorgeous look on u!!Loving the cheeks and lips!
Thank you, Madalina!
Lovely love this Neutral look,i will tray it soon.
I love this look, Christine! You are GLOWING!
Thanks, Sable! 🙂
OMG! You look fabulous w/ this makeup. I ♥ it! I think I will try to dupe this for dinner and movie tonight w/ my bf. We’re going to see “Just Go With It” with Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston. Happy Valentine’s Day!
Thank you, Erica!
WOW!!! You look stunning! Your skin looks amazing too =)
Thank you, Mari!
All of the V-Day looks you’ve posted are so pretty! The one with the red Chanel lipstick is my definite favorite. I have a question: Is there a reason why you don’t line your upper lashline? It is personal preference or are you sensitive to liner there? Sorry – I’m just curious! 🙂
Hi Kerry,
It causes me severe irritation -sometimes my entire lid will swell shut if it’s really bad, and it’s the result of just anything really touching the area between my upper lashes, not necessarily the product itself (have tried 30+ products).
So pretty!!
Thank you, Ashley!
this is a great everyday look on you Christine
Thanks, Amanda! 🙂
From the 5 Valentine’s Day Makeup, I’m loving this one and the Peach and Plum 🙂
I know you wrote N/A to the substitutes, but it would be so hard for me to get that lip combo here in my country. Do you know any MAC close dupe for them? 🙂 thank you Christine
Try MAC Angel & Nymphette
I love the liner!! Will so pick it up.
Awesome!
