Skin care and foundation.
Skincare! I don’t skimp on that -sunscreens, retinols, acid peels, exfoliators, face creams, etc. Good skin is the best foundation for your makeup.
Eye shadow!
Definitely skincare/ anti-aging products, followed by eyeshadow palettes. The former being a need, but the later is more like my OCD going into hyper-drive! It’s kinda like Pokemon: gotta get them all. I don’t. Have them *all*, but I need to go on a palette diet!
Someone else who uses the Pokemon analogy! That’s exactly what I say to my partner when I buy yet another palette or more nail polish.
Skincare, if that counts! Lately rehauled my whole skincare routine and I’m now addicted to finding the best products! Especially serums/treatments for lightening all my post-acne marks! Strictly speaking about makeup though…. Lip colour! It’s the brightest, most varied part of my routine, so I need choices!
Generally on highlighters, and sometimes on eyeshadow quads.
For an individual item probably perfume – those get pretty spendy. But if we’re talking sheer volume of purchases it’s eyeshadow, hands-down. Favorite thing to buy and play with, especially palettes.
Foundations
Eye shadow, for sure.
Lipstick !
Lipstick no doubt! And lipbalm.. lipstick for quality, libalm because of the sheer amount of it I buy ahah
Foundation.
me too! My foundations cost as much as 2-3x more than my priciest mid range (MAC,UD)palettes!
lipsticks!
Foundation! I’m still trying to find my perfect one. Been looking for years and I still haven’t found my HG foundation.
May I ask Christine, why highlighters? Well, you know, except for it’s given price point (they are almost always the most expensive in any collection!) LoL I always thought your answer will be Foundation. 🙂 Mine is Foundation. I have lowest to highest end for setting and finishing powders, but the foundation I always use are all High-end. 🙂
Most of them are pretty pricey, and I never just stop with what I have 🙂
Eyeshadow palettes, quads,…: I have dozens of them, some high-ends.
Lipsticks!!
I put more money into my skincare than makeup. But if I had to choose one makeup product, I’d say finishing/setting powder. Cheaper ones just don’t seem to work as well on me as my Nars one.
Skincare definitely, especially moisturisers.
Eyes. Always eyes. There’s pretty much no reason for me to ever buy another shadow or palette ever again because I probably have everything three times over, but I always manage to justify something. See UD eyeliner for 50% off at Sephora while just trying to buy toner that I’m out of? I never use anything but black, but obviously now is the time to try something different. Realizing the Armani eye tints are on the site while doing this? I need another. Eye products are a horrible slippery slope.
Lately, I’m spending a lot in foundations. I want to try all of them!!!
Oh yeah, nothing perks my little ears up more than a New! Special! Foundation!
My weaknesses are:
#1 Highlighters
#2 Lipsticks (Purples and Nudes in particular)
#3 Brushes
definitely primers!
Foundation! High-end foundations are my weakness ugh it’s bad.
Foundation, eyeshadow, nail products
Skin care!
Foundations and scincare..
*skincare 😛
I spend the most on skincare mostly, but the other thing I always splurge on is foundation that matches by extremely pale skin and mascara that does what I want (in my case it’s Diorshow Iconic Overcurl). I wish I could find both of those things in a less expensive form, but they’re just not out there!
Lipsticks and glosses!
Probably foundation. In the past, I spent a lot of money on eyeshadow palettes.
Eyeshadows. I just adore all the different colors, feel like I have to have them all.
Lipsticks! I won’t be satisfied until I am swimming in a pool of lipsticks! But I buy a lot of drugstore lipsticks so it’s not THAT bad…
Foundation and base products..always~
Lipsticks! That is what ultimately I spend the most on because I buy so many of them. But, a lot of my lipsticks are drugstore lipsticks. I pay more for skincare products. Don’t buy them often, but if I do, it tends to be a little more expensive than the other beauty products I buy.
Lipstick, highlighters, liners, skincare, fragrance. Lipstick because it is my most common purchase and having a near-complete Rouge G collection, massive NARS collection, etc is pricey! They’re my first love and the only makeup item I truly collect. Highlighters because the most interesting ones to me are the limited, high-end ones and they come in such a lovely variety. Liners because I like having as many pops of color as possible and enjoy having a wide variety of color matches to complement various shadows. Skincare because I have a routine I very much enjoy that mixes pricier items (like Algenist, Dr. Dennis Gross, PTR, etc) with reasonable options (Paula’s Choice, Cerave, Cetaphil, Skin Biology) and it’s important to maintain it. Fragrance because my nose and body chemistry prefer the notes in niche and luxury more 🙁 Thank goodness for things like BPAL and coconut body oils! 😛
Foundation
skincare and foundation.
Same 🙂
The thing is, when it comes to face makeup, once you’ve gone through the whole routine of primer + liquid foundation + pressed powder + finishing powder, anything less looks and/or feels inadequate. So whenever I’m considering foundation, I’ll have to at the very least, double the price tag for a matching primer/base/moisturizer.
I’m just thankful the Asian trend (where I’m from) has always emphasized clear, glowy skin instead of color, because at this point, that impulse purchase of high-end lipstick is negligible compared to the price tag of my whole face and skincare collection.
Skincare for sure!.:) As far as makeup; probably,a good close tie between eyeshadow, blush, and highlighters.
My “beauty budget” is primarily reserved for eyeshadow/palettes, and palettes have a pricey base, but are generally a great value. However, when it comes to a “single” product, I’ve probably paid the most for a highlighter.
In general, I’d say skin care, but as far as makeup is concerned, it’s a tough battle between eyeshadows and lipsticks.
Perfume…both indie and vintage. This obsession can get very expensive. 🙂
Lippies. Always have to keep stocked up and up to date with the latest lippy collections. Im a lipstick hoarder
Eye and face cream
Blush! And lately, foundation.
Foundation and Skincare. Without the best base all the great colours will be useless.
Definitely skincare and my face makeup like foundation/powders/highlighters/concealers since my skin is extra sensitive and I need to make sure my makeup products are made of non-irritating ingredients.
Lipstick.
Lip products and foundation
I’d probably have to say eye shadows whether that be singles, quads/quints or palettes. Highlighters and bronzers coming in a close second.
I definitely spend more on skin care and foundation. Chanel recently discontinued my winter shade after I spent so much tme finding the perfect match. I found two at Saks last month and bought them both, so now I have two back ups. Fortunately my summer shade is still in production, for now at least.
All of my makeup! Now skin care products.
Lipstick. Without a shadow of a doubt. I seem to do nothing but buy lipstick! I have hundreds and it’s kind of embarrassing but I just can’t help myself. My family despair!
Definitely lipstick and highlighters. I have more than enough of both and have spent obscene amounts on both lol
Skincare and Foundations!
I had to think about that one for a moment, and then I realized, yep, it’s highlighters for me, too. I’ve got a few pricey eyeshadow palettes lying around, but by far the most expensive single item in my collection is the Chanel cheek products I own.
Probably skin care items and lipsticks. Skin care items because I purchase them regularly to maintain my regimen. Lipstick because I buy more of this type of makeup item than anything else…not because I spend lots of money on them.
1) The last Christmas highlighter by Chanel (with the flower)
2) The NARS dual intensity eyeshadow palette just released
Eyeshadow. I have enough eyeshadow that I could do makeup on an army and never run out. Yet, I still buy more eyeshadow.
Skin Care – but if you mean makeup, then definitely Foundation. I like to have a few around to accomodate skin changes and mood changes, but I also just plain like to experiment a lot.
Skincare, foundation and eyeshadows….I just have such a weakness for eyeshadows and never seem able to get enough
#1: Skincare
#2: Eyeshadows
#3: Blush
Perfume. I see it also as a good investment (most makeup won’t last longer than two years at most, and even during that time slot I never finish beauty products). Scented candles and home fragrance, too.
Foundatons, I am obsessed with base.
Lipsticks! Just today I received an order from MAC for 5 – I don’t need them at all. Next, blushes! I have finally showed down on those! Finally, anything pretty from Chanel, etc. : ) I am a sucker for pretty : )
Skincare, just because of sheer repetition and because I use a somewhat expensive brand. But for actual makeup, it’s got to be eyeshadow palettes.
Skincare, hands down. At the end of the day, that makeup comes off, and healthy skin underneath is very important to me.
I should spend it on good serums but I found a very inexpensive one that does the trick.. for now.
I like oils so I spend quite a lot on good ones like the blue orchid clarins, also good essential oils but in the past two months I found myself spending a lot on a face self tanner, the Sisley one. Quite insane actually but love it so much.
Also I am getting tempted by a very expensive foundation, the Ellis Faas one after spending 2013 and 2014 totally hooked on drugstore bases the bourjois and maybellineones.
These samples! They really kill you don’t they? You test them and afterwards you realize you cannot “live” without them.!
My sunscreen, retinol and BHA! No point in spending big bucks on anything else if my skin doesn’t look it’s best!
I agree! And I’m sooo happy when my skin looks it’s best.
Foundation for me as well. I’ve spent a bit of money on 1 high end highlighter but I’ve spent a lot on higher end foundations when it comes down to a single products.
Foundations and highlighting products. Occasionally some very special other item that gives a very special look I haven’t been able to get otherwise.
Skincare and brushes. I have JBB, the Japanese Brush Bug. There is no cure, only feeding and maintainance.
Probably lipsticks, just because they’re the thing I buy the most of!! In terms of per-item price… actually, that’s still probably lipsticks, hah! 😀
foundation
Skincare, that’s the budget buster
I definitely spend most of my money on foundations… I’m always looking for an even better foundation. Also spend a lot of my money on eyeshadow palettes. I hardly ever buy single eye shadows anymore… just can’t get enough of palettes! Unless they’re single eye shadows from Make Up Geek, Make Up Forever, or Colour Pop 😉
I spend the most money on concealers, foundation, and powder to match. I found the PERFECT foundation and powder combo the other day and it was over $70! Now i wish i had flawless skin, but i am not going to go broke to get it. So, i found a cheaper version that works great! for the first time EVER, that line that usually shows where your makeup stops, and your neck begins, is NONEXISTENT! Wow who knew concealer can sometimes work better than foundation. And as if my life was complicated enough, i have SEVERELY sensitive skin, that’s also acne prone, and I have the lovely scars to prove it. I am thinking of getting micro needling done, but each session is a mere $165! So between the makeup, the cleansers, and let’s not forget the prescription topical face medicine that runs a cool $120 a bottle, it’s no wonder i have 2 jobs!
Skincare plus lipsticks and lip-glosses.
Item type would be lipstick for sure. Most of my disposable income goes straight into Sephora’s pockets!
Eyeshadow palettes are my weakness, followed by skincare and blushes.
Lipstick. Most of my collection is Indies: so $1-2 samples of blush and eyeshadow, or a full size for $3-6. Skincare is also Indie or stunningly basic, the most expensive would be my Paula’s Choice BHA Toner.
Lipstick, though. I have MAC and Lipstick Queen and Bite. Lipstick easily wins.
Lip anything. Can’t get enough apparently!
Foundation definitely! Haha its so important and also probably even application tools i love a nice brush set 🙂
Skincare in terms of individual item costs, and lipstick in terms of quantity. I have way too many lipsticks but they’re my favorite makeup item xD
Skincare, followed closely by eyeshadow, palettes and singles both.
Skin care and Foundation!
Skincare. To me that’s more important than any other beauty product. After that, I’d say palettes are my kryptonite 😉 though I did spend $150 on 6 Nars Dual-Intensity eyeshadow singles when they had the 20% off sale the end of November.
foundation
As a single item, I spend the most on foundations and primers coz I need good formulas that won’t break me out. For general purchases, I buy so much eyeshadows that 70% of my beauty budget went there.
Highlighters, lipsticks/gloss and lipliners! And they’re all pretty much within the same shade range! Lol
Skin care.
Moisturizer… I’ll spend the money for a good one .
Eyeshadow, without a doubt! If I really am in love with a palette (or two… or three…), I’ll make it work as long as it’s a good value. With lipsticks, blushes, etc, I’m usually happy to look for drugstore dupes instead.
Skincare, definitely.
Skin care. If your skin isn’t right, no matter how expensive your makeup is, it won’t look good.
If we’re talking individuals items, then skincare. If we’re talking volume, it’s probably a tie between nail polish and eyeshadow.
Lipstick and eyeshadows
Lip products! Not necessarily on really high end stuff, but just buying ALL the lip products because I can’t help myself. 😛
Mac foundation, eye creams, and my clarisonic opal and serum.
