  1. Dior Meteore — a shimmering, sparkling (slightly muted) copper cream eyeshadow
  2. Illamasqua Supernatural — a glisten of coppery warmth to highlight and bronze the skin
  3. OCC Authentic — a metallic, coppery-orange lipstick
  4. Maybelline Breaking Bronze — a warm, golden copper eyeshadow
  5. NARS Isolde — a duo of copper–lighter and darker–with frosted finishes

Oooh I am totally rocking a rusty lipstick at the moment. It’s from an independent brand called The Portland Black Lipstick Company in the shade “This Corrosion”. I bought it for the Sisters of Mercy reference but I am very impressed with it!

I have the OCC Authentic lipstick and its very nice. I also own the Maybelline Breaking Bronze pigment but haven’t used it yet.

My favorite coppers are Tom Ford’s Savage blush, Makeup Forever Rouge Artist Intense lipstick #18, Nars Surabaya eyeshadow duo, Nars Fez eyeshadow, and Mac’s Sable eyeshadow.

I’ve been eyeing the Nars Isolde for a while. Maybe I’ll add it to my wish list. Great picks, Christine. They all look amazing. My copper pick would be Nars Beautiful Liar lipstick. It looks like a reddish copper color on me. I like the color a lot, but I’m not a huge fan of the formula. To me it wears off pretty quickly considering it was so pricey.

Copper isn’t a colour I wear much. The closest things I have to copper that I like are probably MAC Cocomotion pigment (maybe more bronze than copper) and the coppery shade in Tarina Tarantino’s Dreamy Palette. For face, the only product I have that even approaches “copper” is MAC By Candlelight MSF and I guess it is copper since it looks a fair bit like the Dior Meteore eye shadow swatched above.

Still contemplating Dior Meteore. It’s too close to my skintone so it shows up very sheer unless I build it up. I really love the texture of the Mono Fusions though, and none of the other colours are warm enough for my skintone.

The closest I get to copper is my UD Naked palette, or NARS Galapagos & Cordura. Warm shades like this don’t really work for me, especially on cheeks & lips. If I blend a coppery shadow with a deep brown, black, or eggplant, I can get to work, but it does take alot of effort.

I love the darker side better, but I absolutely adore the texture of both. I fffind if I blend in a matte eggplant shade into the crease, or even a deep brick, the lighter side is more wearable. I have very dark brown eyes, and strong Mediterranean features, but I find this combo to work well for me. Also, my hair is black, but when it’s auburn, that sort of shade is much easier to work with.

I’ll give that combo a try. I’d been pairing the copper side with Smoke & Diamonds on the lid (just a fluke that I found this combo – I’d never have thought of it on my own) and that works too. But I guess I’m lazy – I don’t like have to put in “effort” to get a shadow to work for me. I agree with you about the texture! So far, I haven’t had a “bad” Nars shadow in regard to texture or pigmentation, though I do know some lemons exist! Thanks for the tip!

Hey Amy: I just found an amazing way to pull off copper eyeshadow on neutral skin which is a somewhat similar approach to yours only using a mid toned neutral as a base. Last week I hauled MAC paint pot in Camel Coat. It’s a phenomenal find for me and it a true neutral, maybe pulling a bit cool. Anyhow, it’s a cross between beige and taupe..not quite taupe. If I layer this as a base and apply copper on top–I used more of a rusty clove colour called artifact from OCC –it works absolutely beautifully against my skin without making me look orange or sickly and yet still giving that coppery fall feel.

Supernatural- Check
Others:
OPI Brisbane Bronze, MAC Amber Lights, does Guerlain Terracotta Light in Brunettes 5 count?
Breaking Bronze, Make Up Forever Aqua Cream 12 are in consideration.

I recently started wearing more copper eyeshadow. I bought a single from BE cosmetics called Copper and it’s so good! Buttery smooth with incredible color pay-off.
This post also reminds me that I should wwear OPI Sprung more often.

The older I get the more I like the look of warm coppers on my lids. The eyeshadoes I love the most are Facefront Cosmetics (I don’t even know if they are still around) loose minerals Julie’s Revenge, Facefront Cosmetics in Butter Me Up, and Laura Mercier LE Fire Glow. Fire Glow is still available, and I say snatch it up if you can and love coppers. It’s glorious!
