If you took a friend to a beauty store for the first time, what products would you make sure to show them? Share!

If they might be thinking about foundation/concealer kind of products, that would be the first thing I would show them, since seeing those types of products in person is such an advantage!

If they were seriously getting into makeup, I’d definitely show them lorac eye shadow palettes because they are so high quality and beautiful.

Lipsticks and colourful eyeliners. Gotta start with the stuff you know best, right? 😉 Plus they have that ‘OHH SHINY’ factor without so much of the ‘OMG but how do you actually with the blending and the brushes and OMG’ that eyeshadow can cause people.

I guess my ultimate goal for a first visit would be helping them find a lipstick that’s a hydrating MLBB shade for everyday that you can wear with no other makeup and put on with minimal mirror time (or none). The gateway drug, if you will…

Depends on the specific friend’s wants or needs. If it’s THEIR first time in a beauty store, period (rather than something like a first time in an Ulta when they usually shop at Sephora), I expect it would be overwhelming. I still remember my first time in Sephora: I had to leave within minutes bc there was too much stimuli from the sheer AMOUNT of product and the smells. If the friend is like me in this respect, I would just zero in on their purpose for being there. If the friend just wanted to explore, I would show them the sheer variety of quality eyeshadows–those are always fun to play with.

Either what you said, or a sheer lipstick that they would feel comfortable wearing as that’s how my addiction started. 🙂

I would make sure that they find a good skin care regimen. You makeup needs a healthy base/foundation. And then we would find a holy grail foundation and concealer for their skin type.

Eyeshadow primer! I could figure out how to make eyeshadow last until I discovered primer. IT would just crease and fade so quickly, I’d get super frustrated and give up. Also, make up brushes.

I would probably lure them in by swatching eyeshadows on the back of their hand. I feel like that brings out almost everybody’s inner magpie and it’s a chance to get a gauge of what sort of look they have in mind. Then I’d point them towards trying out something relevant to their interests where the high end/drugstore demarkation is pretty high and the learning curve is pretty low. Lipsticks in the brighter-than-MLBB but still not neon/fire engine category, pencil eyeliner in fun colors, or quality base makeup.

I’d have the backs of both of our hands covered in eyeliner and eyeshadow swatches that we’d look crazy! I do that all the time in Ulta and Sephora to test out colors or try to find a dupe for a particular one. It’s so fun! Hopefully the newbie would enjoy it and find some colors they are willing to try.

It would depend on what they were looking for – I would want to show them ALL of the eyeshadows from my personal favorite brands (LORAC and UD)

With the friends I’ve dragged into makeup obsession, I ask them up front – “What do you really love about your face?” Depending on what they’re answer is, that’s what I aim for. I pull them in and show them how to make that part of themselves sing!

Well, I did do that…first product I pointed out was lipsticks. Next, was mascara. Then, Maybelline Color Tattoo, which she fell in love with and bought a whole bunch of :O

I’d steer them toward good basic skin care, and then concealer. You can go in any direction with a base of good skin, other makeup is all icing. If they weren’t overwhelmed by then – good basic mascara and everyday lipcolor.

First line of beauty is skincare IMHO. So first I would introduce her to a Clarisonic, and proper skin care lines including suncreen, then build from there. Must start with the best bare palette you can before you start accenting with makeup.

I’d recommend that they start with skin care andfoundation but I’d be more interested in checking out some blushes and shadow palettes.

I would take them to a high end department store – show them the ease of MAC studio fix, huge selection of lipsticks, eyeshadows and over to Chanel for blush and skin care! I would suggest Maybelline mascara since it’s so inexpensive. Oh, and let the MAC professionals explain the different brushes, brush cleaners!

Foundation, blush, and lip gloss! If we’re talking brands, I’d be sure to talk them into trying MUFE products because they make great quality products.

I’d take them to, I think an MAC counter as everything is open on display, and I’ve always felt welcome at the MAC counters myself. Then I’d stear them to the lipsticks, as they are, mostly, easy to understand and apply and a nice lipstick does so much. Then if they weren’t feelin faint we’d go for an eyeliner and after that mascara.
Depending on age and skin I might then go to Esteé Lauder for their CC cream, easy to use and it transfere itself to a nicevery sheer cover.
Then back to MAC for a concealer.
All the MAC could be done at a NARS counter or a MUFE, or any nice but not super expensive brand, I just happen to like MAC a lot at the moment.
