L’Oreal Bare Naturale Mineral Finish Mattifying Face Powder in Translucent Matte 404. It turned my face WHITE no matter how light of a hand I tried to have, and I’m already pale.

I haven’t tried the martifying one but I tried the complexion perfection and it works on me. truthfully I reach for it the most among of bunch of other more expensive powders

Yes guilty on both counts rimmed!!! Crappy functioning packaging and a product bereft of any true function. The tombstone writes itself.

Carmindy’s by Sally Hansen. Ugh, it was so powdery and it left my nose looking like I dipped it in cream colored flour. Yuck!

On another note, Koh Gen Do makes a nice powder.

I’ve only tried 3 – MAC Blot, Cover/FX mattifying powder and Erno Laszlo (not strictly a mattifying powder, per se) and I’ve no complaints about any of the 3. All are good though since Laszlo has become so hard to get, I tend to stick to MAC Blot.

Urban Decay De-Slick Mattifying Powder it made my face looked the same, Origins Zero Oil and two samples I got from them were zero oil and matte scientist moisturizes by the 2 hrs my face was oily. I just hate those blotting sheets and it embrassing when I go to the restroom I looked in the mirror my face is greasy and when I finished using the blotting sheets I just can’t believe how much greasy goes on that little sheet

Unfortunatley it was HORRIBLE for me. I threw it away after about a week of use cause it left me with a cakey, shiney face. I have combo skin also.

Have to agree with the comments, this powder works pretty well for me,too, but applied too much and it starts to emphasize flakes; but anyways it´s amazing in summer especially. Unfortunately in Germany they discontinued my shade (01-Rose Nude) so when my backups run out, I’ll have to look for something else :/

Stay matte by Rimmel. Chalky, looked terrible on the skin, made your face feel tight even when I applied very little, and had no lasting power! Oh and that cheap floral smell yuk! Need I say more?

I tried the Sephora brand loose mattifying powder, it did it’s job for abou 5 mins, then I felt even oily-er.! & it felt soo cakey from the beginning.. won’t ever give that a try again “/

I really, really don’t think that MUFE’s mattifying powder works that well at all. It doesn’t matter if I use a light dusting or a heavy hand, I still look oily a little while later if that’s the only product that I use. And I’m not that oily :p

I can’t wear any powder that isn’t transparent. The oil in my face turns everything darker than when I first applied it. My HG is UD De-Slick. It doesn’t last for more than maybe 4 hours at a time but it has a smooth finish and no color so I can apply as many layers as I want and it won’t look bad.

As a mattifying powder, I’ll have to agree that Rimmel Stay Matte isn’t amazing. But I have drier skin, therefore don’t NEED mattifying, and I love it.

Ellie Avatar

I can’t believe how many people dislike the Rimmel Stay Matte. I have very oily skin, so I always use a blotting sheet first, but I really like the Rimmel powder.

I love Clinique translucent powder but I’m pretty sure it’s NOT translucent, it just so happens it matches my skin well. As for keeping my face matte, usually it works well but ocassionally (sunny days in particular) my t-zone gets oily after about 5 hours wear.

This is just for those who have oily skin like me, I’ve had trouble finding a matteifying powder. But I have fallen in LOVE with the maybelline Fit me! Powder. It’s great. And I have super oily skin.

Even though it has been around forever I like the Dual Finish matte powder by Lancome-matifying powder for hair wise the Schawartskof* Osis dust it is amazing 🙂

Dana Avatar

I’ve been using Mac Blot for years and I love it! So I don’t have a bad one to mention on here. Just thought I’d share the love <3

Caroline Avatar

Don’t have a worst just haven’t found one that will last more than 2 hours. I don’t like retouching and most importantly don’t have time. Origins was pretty bad when I used it several years ago. Left a weird chalky residual. MAC blot was good but had to blot many times throughout the day. Still looking and trying to calm this greasy mess.

You gotta try the Mattify Cosmetics brand of powder. This stuff is serioiusly amazing! My face is so oily that i would usually need like 10 blotting sheets a day. With the Mattiy Ultra powder I only need to blot twice a day, and re powder twice a day. Seriously, before I bought this i was blotting and re powdering every single hour.

No powder ever works for me but I wanted to add UD De-Slick in a Tube and Benefit’s Pore fessional are awful! They don’t help mattify and they both end up making my foundation clumps up and looks worse that just being oily! Waste of money!

Kremy Avatar

Avon True Match (or something like that,I don’t have it anymore), it’s just terrible in every single way.
And Rimmel stay matte. But not just the powder, the foundations too.

Helen Avatar

I can’t think of any off the top of my head. It seems, though, the drugstore brands seem to change color when they combine with the oils on my face, more than with the more expensive brands.

Nicole Avatar

Not really a mattifying Poder but MAC Prep and Prime transparent Finishing Powder is the worst for me. A really nice finish, but it broke me out at once. It’s so really sad.

ariana Avatar

all of them are bad when used as my only weapon against my oilies, BUT when I use milk of magnesia before makeup and then set with maybelline dream matte powder, I have been able to control it for hours!

Lori Avatar

I hate palladio’s rice powder. It’s gotten such rave reviews that I thought I would give it a try but it does absolutely nothing for me.

Pauleen Avatar

I absolutely HATED the Urban Decay de-slick. You can’t use the applicator more than twice without it transferring oil to the compact – and then once hte compact gets oily, it’s ruined. The worst part was, it doesn’t even soak up any oil. It’s gross! On the other hand, my #1 favorite mattifying powder is the Mattify Cosmetics Ultra Powder. It’s a loose powder, so no worries about a yucky applicator transferring oil to the product after each use. It keeps my face matte for almost half the day which is a miracle for my skin!
