Dual Finish is not at all good for oily skin. It looks nice at first but makes me oily within an hour. The best thing in the dual finish compact is the puff:D

Thanks for the tip! I have dry skin too, and most mattifying powders dry out my skin even more and make my pores look huge. I’ll have to check this one out.

Does dry skin need mattifying?! If so I need to tell my crazy dry skin friend who’s constantly obsessing over her skin asap! Lol!

I just favor the look of matte skin over dewy. in fact I hate dewy skin, even in the summer. My skin is pretty much dry everywhere except my nose can get a little shiny later in the day, and this powder keeps it in check.
Sonia Kashuk’s translucent powder is awesome too. I just bought that along with her tinted moisturizer and it lasts forever.

Urban Decay De-Slick Mattifying Powder ! It gives me a perfect matte finish without looking cakey & is great for touch ups during the day when my face starts to get oily because it seems to smooth out my foundation and make it look flawless again .

The Too Faced primer is the best, however philosophy’s The Present is $10 less. I used to get the TF one but I switched to that one cuz it’s almost spot on identical.

MAC Blot powder – just perfect! Blends completely, it’s invisible, leaving only matte surface, no signs of powdery face as some of my loose powders can make.

Guerlain Les Voilettes loose powder and I recently discovered YSL Semi-loose powder natural radiance – really keeps oilies at bay! Love!!

Ben Nye Banana Visage luxury powder. It’s a pale yellow, micro milled powder that sets your makeup and warms up your skin a bit. It’s very similar to T. LeCler’s yellow powder but at a fraction of the price. You can get a 3 oz shaker bottle at Stage Supply for $10, it will last for years.

I use a mixture of silica powder (elf, mufe, coastal scents, whatev lol) and Ben Nye Banana powder – love! I also use MAC Blot pressed contact while on the go 🙂

Ben Nye neutral set powder. It’s not a mattifying powder per se, but it keeps the oil at bay way longer than anything else I’ve ever tried (and it’s SO inexpensive.)

Urban Decay De-Slick for me. I know it’s one of those “either you love it or hate it” products but I’ve been using it literally since the day it was released and it hasn’t given me any trouble.

mac blot powder! it is one of the products that has changed my make up experiences since it does work miracles on my oily skin.since the day I have met that baby,I can’t imagine myself without it,even on no make up days!

MAC’s blot powder. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea but it really suits my skin and I like using it on clients with oily skins. It’s probably the only pressed powder I have ever purchased more than once!

This is goofy but it works! …Toilet seat cover paper.
Renee Rouleau posted this as a skin care tip a couple of weeks ago and believe it or not, the paper the covers are made out of really are comparable to a blot paper.
I also use Peter Thomas Roth matte gel on my forehead every day for the last 3 years… it got me through a boot camp. =)

I second the toilet seat cover! The best blotting paper I’ve used, and always available when you need it most (shopping, the office, airports…)

I love MAC Blot Powder in the Spring/Summer since the heat brings out the oil in my combo skin, this ensures a nice clean finish. During the winter I use MSFN but love Blot Powder.

Mac’s Blot Powder!
I also liked the look of Maybelline’s Dream Matte powder, but it made my somewhat sensitive-acne prone skin break out.

Mariella Avatar

My all-time favourite has to be MAC Blot powder and a close second is CoverFX’s MatteFX powder, especially now that it comes in a shade between “light” and “dark” (it only came in those 2 shades when it was first released).

I recently bought the sephora contour disk and the mattefier works amazing!! I have very oily skin and when I use it I have a flawless shine free face all day

I’d like to try MAC’s Blot Powder. One reviewer said it oxidized. Has anyone else had a problem with this? And has it made anyone with sensitive skin break out? I just trying Makeup Forever’s HD powder, but it showed up very chalky and white in flash photographs..wasn’t too much of a deal breaker, as I don’t plan on being photographed often, but something about the pure hydrated silica made me feel funny..almost as if I was breathing in dust. Shame, as it made my oily skin look flawless for most of the day and I only needed the tiniest amount!

I’m surprised nobody has mentioned the ELF Studio Complexion Perfection powder. I have oily skin, and I find that it keeps me matte all day. It’s one of the only powders that I can use on my very fair skin without having it oxidize and make me look orange.

surprisingly it is the product I reach for the most and use for touch up every 4 hours. I haven’t found any better product than that

MAC BLOT INDEED!!!

But I’m also curious about UD De-Slick Mattifying Powder & Laura Mercier Smooth Focus Pressed Setting Powder – Shine Control (seriously, why someone named a product that long? It’s a mouthful!).
Have you try it? Anyone?

I’d like to try Maybelline Dream matte, does anyone have any idea which shade I should get? I have a perfect NC30 skin tone and wear MUFE HD 140/127 (probably should mix those two, may be a perfect match for me). And which MUFE duo mat shade should I get?

Thanks for any help, appreciate it 🙂

I don’t use liquid foundation so I just use Loreal True Match compact in Buff Beige whenever I don’t have my Laura Mercier powder

I regret buying MAC loose Blot Powder, especially because it’s a product that’s easy for me to get heavy-handed with and then I end up looking way too light even after I think I’m shaking the excess powder off the brush! But everybody still raves about the MAC pressed Blot Powder so eventually I’ll buy that instead from now on.

Right now I just sometimes use Laura Mercier Secret Finish Mattifying.

Adrienne Avatar

try using cornstarch powder! any brand.i just keep it in a compact and it works wonders-plus the fact that its sometimes a main ingredient in mattifying powders it does the job all on its own. Goes on a little white at first but then turns completely translucent once you blend it in with the powder brush! cheap and easy way to mattify your skin.
