Awww, this is a really cute idea ^_^
I was staying at his house one night over fall break. Him and I were just sitting on his couch cuddling and chatting, but mostly staring at each other in that loving you-make-me-happy way. Suddenly he gets up an says he has to go get something and he’ll be right back. I was really confused as to what he was doing, but he finally comes back and in his hand is a charm bracelet he made himself with charms from his mother and grandmother. It was really beautiful. He got down on one knee, looked me in the eye, and said “Moira Lenore (which is my birth name), will you spend the rest of your life with me?”
I was really shocked, and obviously said yes. It was one of the sweetest things he’s ever done. We’re not intending to get married now, but in the next couple of years. We want to wait until I finish college. >.< It’s been great, though, he gave me Fafi for Valentine’s day =)

On evening of his birthday, I had planned on taking him to his restaurant of choice. We chose the European-inspired, romantic location of Montreal’s Old Port. Seeing that we were going to his restaurant of choice, he more or less took the lead of the evening. We had 30 minutes until our dinner reservation, so Simon took me down to the waterfront at sunset.
As we were joking around as usual, I was taken aback to turn around and him on one knee. He then asked me to marry him! All I could think to myself was, “I thought I was taking you out to dinner!!” Since I was absolutely shocked, I made sure to look over each shoulder, to make sure he was proposing to me.
What was supposed to be a simple and quiet birthday dinner, turned into a fully planned out romantic and memorable event. Dinner at an upbeat steakhouse , a lavish suite at Montreal’s renowned St. Paul hotel and most specifically, time for an ice cream cone with my two best friends to celebrate. 🙂
Our wedding date is Aug. 1st in Riviera de Maya, MX 🙂
I must say I love this website!!

Well, I had come home from work to find a notice pinned to the door ‘gone out to xxxx (friend’s) house’. This was a bit suspicious because it was our anniversary and very unlikely that H2B would have dared go out! So I let myself into the house and on each stair going up to our flat was a single red rose, then roses laid out in a line all along the corrider to our living room. I opened the door and Paul was on one knee, with a candlelit meal (which he had cooked himself) and a big banner made up of a single letter on a sheet of A4 paper spelling out ‘will you marry me’ and hung across the ceiling. Bee Gees ‘How Deep is Your love’ was playing in the background. Took me about two hours to clean up the mess in the kitchen from the home cooked meal though! rochelle@rochelleobrien.com
He made reservations for us at a ritzy restaurant. I knew that the ring had come in that day, so I was kind of waiting for him to ask me. I got all dolled up for the restaurant and we were standing near the door and he gave me a hug. We look at each other for a moment, and he tells me, “You know I love you, right? Well, I have something to ask. Will you marry me?” I told him yes, and then he took a picture of me accepting the ring, and I took a picture of him holding the ring out to me. We posted the pictures at the same time on our blogs, so that the friends from far and wide could see. Now, how’s that for sappy?
I was on vacation with my family for a week and when I got back I was really wanting to spend some time with him… I missed him!! He told me that he had to go to a party with his mom for work and invited me to go along, not exactly what I had in mind… but I agreed. He told me to get dressed up and come over, but when I got to his house, his mom was not there. I asked where she was, and he said we would be meeting her there. I was running a little late, so I figured she just left to be there on time and we would see her later, but he had different plans for the evening. He took me to The Starship, which is a dinner cruise out of Tampa, FL. I was so surprised, but still had no idea what was to come. After the excellent dinner, we were sitting out on the deck when I put my hand down on his leg and felt a box, I got nervous and excited at the same time, and asked him what it was. That is when he got down on one knee and asked me to make him the happiest man alive by becoming his wife. YES!!!! After the shock wore off we danced the night away under the stars (they had a live band on the top floor)… it was so perfect!
Thats really sweet and AN EXCELLENT TREAT TO GIVE AWAY!!
We met in a freinds wedding there he saw me and wanted to marry me really soon,But it was me who took time to get to know each other properly. Then he went back to states, came back after 9 months and propsed me in a hotel(Emirates Tower,Dubai) by giving me a big beautiful diamond ring and by dedicating me a really beautiful romantic song. And obviously,i accepted!!This was my happiest day of my life.Im really proud and happy that he is my man,my LOVE.

Zzainy…
Nothing over-the-top for me…I was getting ready for bed at my nightstand and he came in and just watched me with this goofy grin on his face. I knew something was up. Then he got down on his knees and put his arms around me and pulled out a ring he had bought that day from a place called Alice’s – a really cool local vintage store that I love. He was so bashful about it he could barely even say the words! Thinking about that always makes me smile!
My DF proposed to me Sunday, September 3rd of last year. I had some clue that it was happening due to the way he was acting. I of course was running behind and he told me no problem that he planned for it since I’m ALWAYS behind when we have plans for a trip to Philly. We get there and take the scenic route and park near City Hall. He said we had too much time to kill but wanted to avoid the traffic so lets go walk around. I was nervous but still unsure b/c we have done this before when I lived in the city. We took our usual stroll and ended up in Love Park (all typical). I’m actually hungry and ask him if we had time for coffee at Starbucks which made him all nervous. We were infront of the Love statue in the park and he gets down on one knee and asked me right then and there! I was convinced it was going to happen at dinner so I was in total shock. Kicker – even with all the tourists around, not a single person noticed.
We’re getting married this October 4th in downtown Philly where we met, fell in love and where he proposed. I can’t wait!
Actually, he didn’t really propose. One day, I just nonchalantly asked “What do you think if we’re getting married at the same day as your birthday? Since my birthday is one day after, we won’t have to memorize too many days to celebrate, will we?”. He then answered “I think it’s cool! We’ll have to go find the venue and everything else for the wedding soon because it’s just three months away from now”. I never regret that day. Hope I won’t, ever.
Hooray for contests!
Rob and I had been dating for about a year when I moved to the state capitol to work for the legislature during session. We didn’t explicitly say this, but we both realized this would be the test for our relationship, and about two months after I left and a few weeks before I was due to move back home, we officially passed the test.
We were taking turns driving to see one another every weekend, and on this particular weekend it was my turn to drive to see Rob. I got into town a bit early and knew he would be at work for a couple more hours. Once I arrived at his apartment, I sent him an innocuous little text saying I was there and that I was going to do laundry (how boring, I know!).
Next thing I know, fifteen minutes later he’s home. He was a little jittery – jingling the change in his pocket, not sitting down and cuddling with me the way we usually did after the week-long separation – and he asked me if I wanted to go to Starbucks.
Well, no, not really… See, I don’t drink coffee or tea. But I said yes because he was acting so oddly. His apartment was downtown and right next to the city’s landmark park, so we just stepped outside and started heading in the general direction of the coffee shop.
When we started veering off course, I asked if I had forgotten exactly where Starbucks was located. He said no, I had the location right, but he thought we would stop by “my gazebo” first.
That was when I knew. We went to this park on our second date, and the gazebo was where we shared our first kiss. Whenever we went back to this park, we never spent time in the gazebo because there were always people in it.
Same situation this time! We leaned against the railing and looked out at the lake, and Rob made a comment about wishing the people would leave so we could be in the gazebo alone. Further confirmation of my suspicions.
The people eventually left, and we were alone. Rob told me he loved me, he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me, and then he pulled a ring box out of his pocket, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him.
EEK! I looked at him (he just asked me to marry him!), I looked at the ring (he bought a ring!), and then back at him (he asked me to MARRY HIM!). I said yes, of course. It was a blur then – hugging and kissing and squealing from me and laughing from him.
We did go to Starbucks afterward. That was obviously just his ploy to get me out of the apartment!
Wow, I don’t think I ever typed all of that out before. Thanks for the opportunity!
My fiance proposed on our 2nd anniversary (May 5th). It was simple but sweet. We took the kids to school and returned to the house. He made pancakes for us. I thought that it might be “the day” (since it was our anniversary) so I kept asking if he had any plans for us. He said no. I felt horrible because I thought he would’ve made plans if he was going to propose. He got up to wash the dishes and I went back to bed. I was laying there, trying not to cry , when he came in to the room. He laid on the bed next to me and told me that he tried to imagine his life without me but he couldn’t. He asked me to be his wife and put the engagement ring on my finger. One of the happiest days of my life!
On Monday, September 10th of last year, we were heading home from work. When we pulled up in the driveway, I saw a Fed Ex notice on the door. I figured it was the baseball jersey my boyfriend said that he ordered. (He told me a few weeks prior that the engagement ring or his special edition jersey would be arriving soon.) He certainly did not act any differently on the ride home, so, yep Fed Ex must have attempted to deliver the jersey.
Anyway, all I know is that I was s.t.a.r.v.i.n.g! I quickly changed into my sweats & tee, and grabbed a BIG bowl, milk, and a box of Crunch Berries. I sat down on the couch to watch tv, and began to eat my Crunch Berries. My boyfriend sits next to me and he begins to say the sweetest things: “I’m so happy….I didn’t expect to meet you….you’re the best thing that’s happened to me….”
Meanwhile, I’m still chomping on my cereal and nodding. He became slightly frustrated and said, “Babe! I’m trying to tell you something! Please put the cereal down!”
I reluctantly put the bowl on the table and turned to him. He began speaking again but my stomach rumbled, and I was eyeing the Crunch Berries. He slowly brought a white box from behind the pillow and my eyes got wide. “Ohmygod! Ohmygod!” He stood up and asked for my hand and we walked to the kitchen. He got down on one knee…shaking. He asked me to marry him. I had tears in my eyes, shaking, and said yes. Then, I said, “Ohmygod, I think I’m gonna be sick.” He said, “Did you say yes because I didn’t hear you.” I said,”YES!” He put the ring on my finger. He’s the most wonderful man & I love him so much! We’re getting married on Sept. 10th of this year.
I have been engageged for 2 years now and will be getting married on August 9, 2008.
How he proposed:
I went to Ecuador for some medical treatments I had to get done I was there for 3 1/2 months. I returned on January 4, 2006 to Norfolk Va where I was greeted by all my friends and family at the airport it was so overwelming, After I finishes kissing and hugging all of my people I turn around and he looks at me and gets on his one knee, “will you marry me?’ Chris asked and guess what I answered…”What did my Dad say?” everyone couldnt help but laugh, I started crying he waited at least a minute on his knee waiting for my response…he said it was the longest minute of his life. He was so nervous he put the ring on the worng hand but he instantly noticed LOL. Theres my story and ofcoarse I said YES! We have been together for 5 1/2 years now. We cant wait for our beginning together.
ACK!! I totally missed the date, but I love sharing my story.. My sweetheart and I went on our first date at Selby Gardens in Florida.. it’s just this huge botanical gardens with tons of bromeliads.. so gorgeous! My dad is really big on gardening and flora, so my sweetie thought it would be cute to impress my dad and take me out at the same time!!
Fast forward three years, still happy and dating. I am on my Spring Break trip to LA my senior year of college. My sweetheart is insistent on us visiting Huntington Gardens, his friend gave him free passes and there is some sort of special exhibit. We try going the day after I land in L.A, but we get lost. My sweetheart is very anxious and upset he can’t find it, which is really weird, so I tell him to relax – we can go somewhere else, not that big of a deal. He finally bugs me the rest of the week about going. I am up super late doing research for my thesis, Tuesday night, and finally got to bed for Wednesday. I wake up at 2pm, (ridic, but was up until 9 doing stuff) and he’s finally like “OH MY GOD, YOU’RE UP, COME ON, WE HAVE TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!” all crazy-like. I’m like, “sure, yeah, ok.. and I get dressed. His nervousness was suspicious, and I knew he had a cute picnic planned for the two of us after the proposal.. so I peeked in the picnic basket, and there it was – a bottle of champagne! Who drinks champagne on a Wednesday at 3 pm!? My suspicions rose, but our anniversary was coming up, so I figured we may be celebrating that. We go to the gardens, and he is literally grabbing my hand and RUNNING. “Where are we going!?” We tour the Chinese garden, and some other botanical ones, but we clearly had a mission to see a “special exhibit”
He finally takes me to the cactus gardens. We have an extensive history with cacti, don’t ask (the gist is that we always met at this huge cactus that is on my campus). He stops in front of the biggest cacti I had ever seen – and says “Well, you know how I feel when I get around cacti..” and gets on BOTH knees (LOL!) and asks me to marry him.
I say of course and proceed to go through the biggest shock ever!!
We are still in the midst of choosing a date (am being picky about location!!)
By the way, the day I got engaged 3/12/08 <33!!
I was picked up from work on Valentine’s day. Blindfolded. Driven to “Tide Point” by the water, where we had our very first kiss, ever. I had no idea why we were there. But then my bf got down on his knee and presented me w/ his grandmother’s engagement ring.
Was a winner notified yet I am having problems with ym internet and cant check my email, so many great stories when will winners be announced? Thanks
