Hi Christine, You mentioned that if you buy the mac wipes in bulk they’re not so expensive. Are you referring to buying more than one pack at a time? Or are you referring to buying the larger package? If it’s the first, where do you buy them that gives you a bulk discount? Thank you
Lauren
The larger package – buying 100 at a time instead of the smaller pack! 🙂
Hi Christine, I’ve always wondered but never could find a definitive answer, what is the purpose of putting the beads in the bottom of containers that hold makeup brushes? Is it just to hold them stand up straight or are there other reasons? Thank you so much!
It helps them stand up straight – smaller beads/marbles would work better for that, though!
I love your Inglot palettes! I can’t wait to get one!
This may be a bit off-topic, but what is the best brush, in your opinion, for concealer? I have been doing reaserch for months and still can’t pick one! Thanks! 🙂
I honestly like fingers best! Or else a fluffy brush – I’ll use the 217 to blend out concealer sometimes. I do like the regular concealer brush (I think it’s the 194?) for just initially applying the product, but it’s an extra (somewhat unnecessary) step.
I think I’ll just save my money and use my fingers! I already have the 217, but I never thought to use it for concealer! Thanks Christine!
*stares and drools*
Wow.
Thanks for sharing, just wanted to make a comment about my favorite crease brush. Your 17S MUFE brush that you love is similar to my favorite crease brush by MAC, #223. It was limited edition and I purchased two because it is so great. It is the best, if you ever get a chance you should definitely try the #223 MAC brush. Thanks again for all of your hard work.
When did the 223 come out?
It came out with the Raquel Welch Icon collection in 2007. http://www.temptalia.com/mac-cosmetics-raquel-welch-icon-collection-information-photos
It is very tapered and really fits perfectly in the crease. I use it everyday with my other 7 favorite MAC eye brushes!
Not to sound morbid, but I hope you have take out insurance for this collection! It’s amazing and definitely more valuable than its sales price. I know I would want to be bequeath Chanel Dragon.
Thank you for sharing. I have often wondered myself how you store/organize everything. I am sooo jealous of you 🙂 You deserve all your success.
Thank you, Melissa! 🙂
I just watched nearly 20 minutes of you in a bathroom LOL! Your makeup stash is awe-inspiring, love it. Great organization tip with the brushes…I keep my most-used brushes in half-pint Kerr jars; my toilet and shower are right next to the sink and mirror so unfortunately the brushes have to be portable. It’s also how I store my lip and eye liner pencils, and it works well for my small space.
Thanks for giving us a glimpse into Temptalia’s makeup vault!!
Whatever works!! The Le Creuset containers are quite heavy — and heavier with the marbles in them! I’m SO happy about the door between the toilet/shower, though. Before I didn’t have that, so I was like, “NO, NOBODY CAN USE THIS BATHROOM!”
Hi Christine. I was wondering; since you have such a huge collection of brushes do you clean them as you use them? And if so, what do you use? I assume you must use your brushes like crazy. I am religious about cleaning mine but I do them all at one time and I dread it. It is such a chore. Any tips for keeping them clean with daily use in between deep cleaning?
Yep, I clean them as I use them. I wash most of my brushes after using them once – I think the only brushes I don’t do that with are the ones I do my eyebrows with (266) and highlight eyeshadow. I use MAC Brush Cleanser or baby shampoo. If I need it to dry ASAP, the brush cleanser, but generally baby shampoo. There are a LOT of brushes that I bought to review + photograph from MAC that I very, very rarely use. I do a major brush cleaning every month or so with all of them, but otherwise, they just sit there until that point.
You mentioned you were testing out the OCC brushes, any chance you will be doing a review soon? I want to buy some quality vegan brushes and have heard some really good things about OCC brushes. (But as always, I trust your reviews over everyone else.) I’ve read some positive reviews for the Sigma bunny collection brushes too, but I think you mentioned once that you don’t review Sigma?
I don’t think a review will be forthcoming any time “soon.” Sometime, I hope to, but I’m not thinking it will be in a time frame that I could say soon, LOL!
I’ve reviewed Sigma’s brushes in the past, but I don’t work with them any more! http://www.temptalia.com/category/brands/sigma-makeup
Thanks for the reply! But I have to ask, (and sorry if this seems nosy! 🙂 ) but why don’t you work with Sigma anymore?
Their aggressive marketing/affiliate/social media outreach has always been a sticky point with me, but working with them during that review left a bad taste in my mouth.
Love how organized you are, thanks so much for doing this!
I’m pretty sure I can’t maintain that kind of organization for more than a couple minutes, so I’m kind of impressed with your bathroom. 😀
Also, interested to know I’m been pronouncing Guerlain incorrectly for the past six months.
Thank you for sharing! It is an AWESOME collection. I agree with the others though, you definitely need to make sure you have insurance. (Obviously we are your older home owners…lol) Just think of all the limited/special edition items that are ‘priceless’…at least to beauty buffs. Get it!! I would cry if the collection was damaged or lost. 😛 I’ve said it before, but it needs repeating…thanks for all of your hard work. I can’t imagine how many hours you’ve put into research, shopping, swatching, filming, etc. Thanks!
Don’t even worry about it – I have everything in hand 🙂
Thank you!
Hi Christine, I love those little drawers you have your jewelry in. I know you mentioned you got them a while ago, but do you happen to remember where you found them or what brand they are? I think they would be perfect for me to organize my skincare and a few makeup products by season!
I believe they’re from Ikea!
