Temptalia Asks You - What's your favorite eye makeup palette?

What’s your favorite eye makeup palette? Nearly every line has limited edition quads, duos, or palettes that come at various times of the year – what’s your favorite? Which one do you always use?

I’m awful with palettes; they often sit unused for me. I own an overwhelming majority of MAC quads/holiday palettes — most of which I depotted and put in with the rest of my regular palettes. I love the Liza AM (old, old, OLD quad) for the easiest neutral eye. They’re all matte shadows, very blah shades when you look at them, but they can add some va-voom for those occasions where you need to be professional or subtle with the eye makeup.

hmm, i love my bobbi brown shimmer brick, which i use as an eyeshadow because of my fair skin tone. i find myself reaching out for givenchy’s delice de chocolat palette quite often though, because browns are such foolproof shades which are natural enough for day, especially since im wearing it to school. but i find the givenchy eyeshadow not pigmented enough for my liking and it takes several coats to achieve the intensity i would like. :/

Holiday ’06 Smoked Eyes, it makes the perfect fool proof smokey eye. It was one of the first MAC products I ever bought and I have been addicted ever since!

I loooove both Smoke Signals quads, the Thunder Eyes quad, and the Tease Me quad. I am a huge quad fan in general but those are the four that I use the most thus far. 🙂

With being new to Mac, I have to say the Smoking Eyes or Gentle Fumes quads for sure! The colors are all just so pretty and they help make a great smokey eyed look. 🙂

The only palettes I have of MAC are the Smoke Signals quads and Pandamonium quad and I love all of them coz I can make different looks with them. But my ultimate favorite palettes are the quints of Dior– I love all their color combos.

Guess I am the odd one in the group but I hate palette combos. It always seems like there are two or three colors that are ok and then one or two hidious in the combo. I much prefer individual colors that I can mix and match with whatever colors I choose. Its one of the things I like about MAC, buying one color at a time is an option. When I started out playing with drugstore brand make-up it always seemed so weird that the requirement was to buy a combo of colors and it always seemed that only one or two of the colors got any use. Maybe one day I will see the light that everyone here seems to see 🙂 until then I just don’t get the appeal of combo colors.

Don’t worry Tanya, I feel the same way as you! In fact, I’ve always been suspicious of palettes – they must be made to cater to as wide an audience as possible, so of course a few colours will sit unused because they don’t suit your individual skintone. And sure enough, that’s always what happens to me. Maybe I’m just too perfectionistic about getting the exact shade I want? In any case, that’s why I tend to steer clear of palettes unless they’re a clear bargain (like that Sephora one!! sigh …)

I like and own 5 eyeshadow palettes(3 MAC & 2 Jill Stuart) but oddly I rarely use them.On daily basis,I use my mineralize eyeshadows esp.Flashtronic much more. For the palettes,I only use it more when I go travelling. My favourite is Jill Stuart “Glazed Garnet”,from this year authum collection (this brand is only available in Japan) but the one which I use “most” is however Jill Stuart “Jewel Violet” also authum collection *weird*.
