I LOOOOOOOOVE THIS SITE! I JUST FOUND IT ABOUT A WEEK AGO.
ON TOPIC, I BOUGHT BLISS STEEP CLEAN ENZYME MASK AND IT IS AMAZING! ITS LIKE $55 AT SEPHORA, BUT A LIL GOES A LONG WAY. IF U TAKE CARE OF YOUR SKIN, U DONT NEED AS MUCH MAKEUP.

The most expensive beauty products I’ve bought are the Chantecaille Protected Paradise compacts (face and eye) at $90 each. :O They look so pretty, I just couldn’t resist. 🙂 Actually, that’s not the most expensive one, it’s the Guerlain Meteorites Butterfly powder compact, cost me about $110 on Ebay (I think it retails at $160 in shops). *oops*

A few of my MAC brushes cost over $100 each. I’ll never spend that much on another product. I expect to get my moneys worth out of these babies.

fresh sugar face polish – 55$. i bought it when i had a gift card to sephora, it smells really nice but but i found it average. i will not purchase it again.

The Chanel eye make up remover – it’s for really sensitive skin and I was still allergic to it :o( i couldn’t return it either, grr! I guess I’ll be sticking to make up wipes for my eyes for a while, i’ve given up on the bottled stuff!

I don’t even know where to start! lol

The most expensive single product (not set) was my Dior Quint for 54 dollars. I’ve spent more on other things at sephora but that one really hurt. Totally worth it but a shock to the wallet.

Other items… I buy those Jessica Simpson hair pieces on HSN but those are on flex pay and that’s easy. lol They are all over 100 dollars.

Wait… My chi was over 100. Oh never mind… The dior made my chest hurt a bit.

kate somerville facial scrub. it does work, it’s gentle and my skin felt smooth compare to other scrubs but it’s just too expensive for a scrub. i have oily skin so i don’t get dry patches and my skin’s not that sensitive to scrubs so i didn’t repurchase. if i don’t that means i’m not into it that i really need it.

One year I got a veeery generous gift certificate at Nordstrom and chose a jar of Chanel Sublimage without asking how much! I was rather stunned when I signed the receipt ($350!!!) but it didn’t use up the whole gift certificate, so I figured “Why not? I only live once!”

It was amazing, it lasted me a year, moisturized my face like nothing else I’ve ever experienced and the super-subtle vanilla scent made me swoon every time I opened the jar and took out a wee dab with the included spatula! It was love love love, but once I ran out I couldn’t afford to repurchase! If I ever become obscenely wealthy, the Sublimage line will hold a place of honor on my vanity, but until then, I continue my search for a (much) more inexpensive replacement!

I got some Chanel Sublimage Eye Cream for $175, but I think I’m going to return it…because I’ve since found Guerlain’s Orchidee stuff….OMG I’m so in love with it. But one bottle of serum is $400 and I don’t want to spend that kind of money right now. But when I do, that will certainly be my most expensive beauty purchase.

Sara Avatar

most expensive thing was the tarte ‘we wish you wealth’ palette from…last christmas? i don’t remember exactly how much it was (probably 50-60) but it had TONS of product and was really worth the money. second most expensive was the nars multiple in orgasm…i think it was 32 when i bought it. i’m pretty cheap most of the time heh

My FHI Salon Pro 2000 hair dryer. My wallet died, but it is seriously the MOST amazing beauty item I’ve purchased. The fact that my long thick black hair dries in 5 minutes and feels as soft as a salon blow dry…SO WORTH IT!

Myxa Avatar

Biotherm Age 2 Fitness night cream – $65, but it was a gift. 🙂 Other than that, probably Dior powder foundation – $50. Bought it on card points. Out of my own pocket – probably around $35 for Studio Fix powder foundation from MAC.

Smashbox Photofinish Primer in a “jumbo” size. It was about 45-50 dollars. It wasn’t at all what I wanted, but the regular size was all sold out. I don’t know if I’ll ever repurchase it. If I feel like 1)primers do a lot for me 2)the size was worth the money, I might.

Dermadoctor Calm Cool & Corrected for like $85, to treat my redness. I tried a sample and loved it, so I splurged on the full product. It worked well for a month or so and then, pbbbt. Waste of money.

I have had much better luck with Clinique’s redness relief system. I’ve been using if for months and months and my redness and dryness, even here in the depths of winter, is pretty under control 🙂

Cass Avatar

Cle de Peau – the concealer, the pore corrector stick, a redness reducing base – all at one shot. Big investment but the concealer lasted forever. I never use the redness corrector anymore though so that was a waste.

Jess Avatar

The most expensive beauty item would be my Clairsonic Skincare brush for $165 during the Sephora F&F event. Makeup wise would be my Laura Mercier Oil Free Tinted moisturizer for $42. Both heavenly products but I cringe when I spend that kinda money.

Does hair count? My monthly hair costs run about $100 or so at the salon with Deep conditioning appointments, relaxer touch-ups, and color. So, it’s pretty costly since I go every two or three weeks. In fact, I have one this Saturday, lol.

Yeah, yeah. I could do some of this at home. But, 1) I don’t know what the hell I’m doing (lol) and 2) I get a break from my hubby and kids.

The Bobbi Brights palette, at $70, was the single most-expensive product I’ve ever bought, but I have been known to drop much more than that on just a couple of products at MAC or Sephora. As have we all, I’m sure…

Javy Avatar

the clarisonic skin care brush!!! ahhh i went back and forth so much on it before i actually caved and got it, and your review on it definetly helped me in making my decision 🙂

Karli Avatar

I’m only 14, so when my mom buys makeup for me (which is usually), I don’t keep track of the money. Though I’m sure it costs an arm and a leg.
But the most expensive thing I’ve bought without her there was a $35 NARS powder foundation. It wasn’t really right for my skin, so I don’t think I’d buy it again.

Lots, but one thing is Diorlight necklace makeup they came out in 2007. It’s not avilable locally, and I bought it online for 90USD with no shipping. Crazy, i know, the worse thing is I don’t even want to use it – I found Dior’s lipgloss perfume unbearable but too late. I’m too cheap to sell it because I want to keep it as a memoir…. weird me.. i kept a lot of le stuff packed in my room. Let’s say, at least $5000 worth of them? I felt so guilty cause from now on, I will not buy le stuff unless they’re worth the price. (Lady dior compact is NOT on my list)

Let’s see… Where do I start??!! The crazy thing is that once you start splurging and buying higher end beauty products & make-up, the stuff that seemed so expensive at first/a while ago is not anymore and now, sadly enough, if I want a $50 blush or $40 mascara, I think “hey, it’s only $40 or $50!”… I know! It’s just funny the way the mind works. I guess I buy what is considered expensive items quite regularly. For my hair, I splurge $200 every 2 months (washing & drying, cut, treatment, gloss, colouring, styling). For fragrances, I have spent $300/bottle on some exclusive stuff (and, if I had more money, I would have bought the Bond No. 9 collector’s edition bottles with Swarzovski crystals! They are $700-$800/each). For skin care, my serums are anywhere between $200-$400/bottle (but a little goes a long way). For make-up, since I am BIG on limited edition packagings, for example I have spent $100 on the Armani python palette (2 lispticks and a smokey eye shadow that is patterned like a snake-skin, hence the name). I really wanted the Dior “little suitcase” Spring lip palette ($100) but in my country, they only have the #002 (the nude colors) & I wanted the one with the red color in it. I stopped @ Holt Renfrew after work today and was told that I can only get it if I’m in the USA!!! Shocks! I’m really sad… I really want the Clarisonic though! Soon…There’s always a newer product to covet!

Bobbi Brown Shimmerbrick. I cant recall the color….I think brownie. From an outlet….I spent $26 I think.

waste of money. it was a shimmery, frosty mess. I couldnt think of any applicable moment to wear it, so i returned it.

Tretinoin cream.025%. Absolutely a beauty product, even if I do have to find a doctor and haggle with them to get a prescription. It’s the only thing that actually plumps up and rebuilds that collagen, gets rid of peri-M acne, and diminishes scars from acne too. Great stuff- but $60 or so a tube plus the cost of a doctors visit adds up. By the time I’ve got the fresh new tube in hand with SPF 45 sunscreen it’s $200.
But I look good! Hooray!

MAC 187 brush ($42), MUFE foundation (think it was $42), and Creme de La Mer (I bought several sample-size jars from ebay, but it was still pricey).

Samantha Avatar

For makeup, it has to be both Cle de Peau concealor for $68 and just recently, I splurged on Chantecaille Future Skin foundation for $65. They are awesome and worth it!

Having a skin condition (eczema), my creams and moisturizers and serums are way expensive… around 90 euros each on the stores near me (Darphin). I’ve been checking into cheaper sources for my skin products. My makeup is comparatively cheaper. The most expensive makeup item I bought was probably one Clarins e/s quad (around 30 something euros with discount). I am lucky that while my face skin is very sensitive (only mineral foundation for me), my eyelids are oily but not sensitive, so I can wear all kinds of brand e/s.
