Temptalia Asks You - What's the best compliment you've received on your makeup?
What’s the best compliment you’ve received on your makeup? Share! 🙂
.
I think the biggest compliment is when someone asks what you’re wearing so *they* can purchase it, too!
.
For me, the best compliments are the ones when they don’t compliment a certain product on me, but say “You look so refreshed” or “You’re skin is so glowy”- basically whenever people think that I actually look rested or healthy or pretty etc. ( Of course it’s great to get complimented on a bright, well blended look as well 🙂 )
I was going to say the same 🙂
The best comment I ever received on my makeup was when a random women in the MAC store asked me how I did my make-up because she thought I worked there. It felt really good, I was so flattered.
The same thing happened to me earlier today! Well, she didn’t think I worked there, but she did take my advice and buy 2 extra items she wasn’t planning on, and she did ask what I had on.
I have been asked by someone working at the Estee Lauder counter if I was also “in the business”. That was a pretty big compliment as I haven’t done any training, just what I’ve picked up from tutorials (including yours). 🙂
I did a rainbow eye and was asked if it was airbrushed because(according to her) my mu looked flawless.
Though I agree with your comment Christine, I enjoy that it enhances my eyes a bit more.
I guess the best compliment that I received was that a certain color e/s and lipstick looked really flattering on me.
If someone gives me a compliment like that, I know I’m on the right track colorwise, which makes me feel really good !
The best compliment I’ve ever received is that I look so natural.
My biggest make up compliment was recently several times by relatives asking me what foundation I use, because it looks really good on me, and that my make up looks really good and ask what I have on.
The comments were in reference to Diorskin Nude Foundation in 020 Light Beige.
I know if people are digging my foundation , than my face must be looking flawless!
same with me! it makes me really happy if friends ask me for advice. and I really love sharing my ideas 🙂
I allways get compliments when I use pink blushes (LOVE the new Bobbi Brown Maui bronzer) and pink lipgloss…. people allways think I look at least 10 years younger then…… and as I’m in my forties… that’s a HUGE compliment 😉
And your answer: well let’s give you a compliment…. Last Thursday I handed over the list of products you used on your Photo Realism e/s QUAD made easy to the Make up artist at MAC and said; give me everything on this list, I LOVE THAT LOOK LOL.
my best compliments i have had is for putting odd colours together 🙂
A MUA at a counter once told me my eye makeup was beautiful, very well placed and blended and she didn’t see that well done very often. I was over the moon 🙂
“You look gorgeous today, what happened to you”? (Dad)
^^ I usually have dark circles, and that day, wearing some make up made me look rested, and myy dad happy: he worries about my health a lot, and showing him a happy and healthy face was maybe nothing sensational, but it meant the world to him 🙂
One day I got complimented on my eye makeup by a MAC artist and then by a MUA at Sephora. It made my day!
a compliment from a complete stranger on my eyes after having had some makeup applied at the mufe counter.
a girl came up to me at the mall and said “please tell me you are a make up artist so that you could do my make up for my wedding” When someone trusts you with their face on the biggest day of their life – thats the best compliment to me.
I get compliments from people saying my makeup reminds them of beetles of beetles or butterflys. That always makes me feel great, because i have always thought both of those types of insects had such great colors.
I did a neutral eye – of all things – that a makeup artist really loved and asked me what I used. Then another time a random person stopped me to admire my makeup and asked me where I worked ;P Both were real pick-me-ups for the day.
Someone recently assumed that I was a makeup artist or worked at a counter in Nordstrom because of my eye makeup that day. Also, recently people think that I work at MAC because I have come to know so many of the eye shadow names.
lol i go to my mac counter(they<3meLOL) every week and
everytime im there some lady askes me for help and asks me what
i used on my eyes thinking that i work there lmfao
im only 14!
hahaha
oh and they always ask me what i use like the MUAs(:
The best compliment I receive on my makeup… when people comment on my skin. I always strive for perfect skin!
The first time I met my seventh grade language arts teacher, I walked into her classroom at Open House and she took one look at me. She then proceeded to fawn over my skin, hair, and eyes like I was some sort of reincaration of a Greek goddess! It was one of those embarrassing moments that you can’t help but smile and blush at!
I think one of the best compliments that I received was one day at the MAC counter a customer was working with a MUA and they couldnt quite get across what they wanted and she turned to me and said I love your eyes! I want mine to look like that-thats what I want. And I felt so proud. Also when my boyfriend compliments me because he dosent even like makeup.
My favorite compliments are when people comment on how beautiful I look, that I’m glowing, or that I have flawless skin;) This type of compliment always let’s me know I’m doing something right. The other night my boyfriend complimented on how nice I looked at dinner and that’s always sweet!
I love when women compliment me on my make up especially after Ive spent a long time putting a look together. I always nudge my bf, like see? it was worth that extra hour. LOL
i get a lot of complements on my makeup from my co workers and last friday i was at mac and a lady confused me for working there and she also asked wat blush i was wearing next day i went back for the thermal mask since i work like 5 stores away the mua complimented me on my lip combo(colour crafted andelectic edge lipglass)
It’s flatteringwhen people say they like it in general but I once pulled an all nighter and told a friend the next day how bad my dark circles are (which they are naturally, just darker when I’m tired) and he said “wow! u dont even look like it at all!” Thank you, Benefit Erase Paste =]
From a co-worker. She told me that I always looks so well put together for being a new mom. Like I’m supposed to look dis-sheveled or something. She’s a sweet girl so I took it as compliment.
as a dude, the best ones for me are always from other guys that say, “you’re wearing make-up?! i can’t tell at all!!! how do you do that?!” with a “teach me! teach me!” look in their eyes. hehe.
I once went into a MAC store with a friend to try out some looks on her. As I was working, this mac MUA walked by and said, “You must work for MAC; only a MAC MUA can do looks like that.” I felt like the coolest thing in the world. LOL
the first time a friend asked me to do her makeup for a night out. I used to ask people to do my eyeshadow for me, but now that I am getting good at it, they are asking me!!
I constantly get asked what I do to get my skin so flawless, little do they know, it’s all really down to MAC 🙂
When someone asks if I’m a makeup artist. This happened a few times at the church group I go to. She liked that I used a range of colors, yet kept it from being OTT.
A co-worker once commented that I couldn’t be wearing blush, because my makeup looked so natural. She wanted to know why I was blushing!
Best compliment that I have gotten was that my face look like a doll. And it was from some random shopper at Sephora. She also wanted to know what I used and I said Select SPF 15 liquid foundation and Studio Tech foundation powder.
and the make up i mentioned is from MAC (duh!)
When I wear any eye look with deep truth (MAC) in it I always get the nicest compliments.
The best compliment I ever got was when I walked into the MAC PRO here in Dallas and one of the artists there said I truly looked like a work of art, my makeup was so perfect. To get a compliment like that from a PRO artist was the best highlight of my makeup wearing life.
When I get the “your skin is flawless,” I die. It’s like “my work here is done,” lol.
I think sometimes when I walk into MAC an MA would comment on my makeup, it makes me happy. They would just say I like your eye makeup today or lipgloss and etc.
The Best Compliment I Ever Get Is On My “Flawless Skin” Even Though I Dont Use Any Foundation. And Also On My “Beautiful Eyes”. lol
When anyone says my skin looks great (I was on antibiotics for acne for three years) or I get told I’m radiant.
The best compliment was from a Dior SA who said I knew more about makeup than her and she always loved to see me in store because I had such an unique way of putting things together.
About a year ago, I was waiting in line at a clothing store. A women walked by me, stopped and walked back to me. She said “I really like your makeup” (refering to my eyeshadow). Then she continues with, “by the way, I’m a makeup artist”. Then she walks away smiling.
She made me feel more confident about my work. Even though I felt like crap with the e/s color. lol
My favourite compliment came from a girl in Sephora who told me she thought I worked there. XD
the biggest compliments are when i go to mac and look around and people come up to me to ask what i’m wearing and ask for advice because they think i work there.
I have been in the MAC store on a few occassions when the MUA compliments my eye makeup. That always makes me feel great because I know I must be doing it right:)
The biggest compliment is when my boyfriend says my skin looks really good and he cant even tell Im wearing foundation! The second biggest compliment is when he says I did a good job matching my foundation (but he can tell Im wearing something). Im much more obsessed with evened-out skin than playing with color.
“You have awesome skin!”
Not a verbal compliment, but I’m flattered when random passers-by offering me a light when I’ve already got a zippo in my hand.
I get complimented on my liner once in a while.
Yes, definitely the, “Wow you have such great skin” compliment is always the best, even when I know my skin is horrible under all that MU prepping and priming! the MU that accentuates your look, but without covering your features is always the best. Another compliment that is flattering is when someone can’t exactly put their finger on what you have done to look better, and they just notice something about you that is “glowing” or “refreshed” like some other commenters had mentioned on this feed. those are the best.
A pro makeup artist asked me what shadows I was wearing and how I applied them! Woot 🙂
