Temptalia Asks You - What scent to you prefer in your lipstick/gloss?

What scent to you prefer in your lipstick/gloss? Vanilla? Fruity? Perfume-y?

.

I like vanilla the most, from what I’ve smelled. It’s safe, not too much, and pleasant overall.

I’m a sucker when it comes to vanilla scented products so I prefer the vanilla scent of MAC lipsticks and glosses.

I don’t really like fruity scented (like orange or watermelon) lip products.

I am over thinking this but I love the way Clinique’s Air kiss gloss smells. I buy it because it smells like some Aziza gloss I had when I was 13. It’s not fruity or vanilla.

I like just about any scent in gloss except the perfume-y ones. I’m thinking Clarins or Guerlain smell a bit old for my tastes.

I’m fine with MAC’s vanilla. I don’t know if anyone else’s noticed, but chromeglasses were caramel-scented (I think). I also used to like Origin’s mint scent in its liquid lip colour but my lips itched after a month or two of wear (the scent had started to go wrong and I guess it was time to throw it out).

The only scent I like in a lipstick is MAC’s vanilla smell… it’s light enough that it doesn’t bug me. Other than that, I always prefer that there is NO scent.

Peppermint. It’s nice and fresh, I don’t like sugary sweet scents near my face – it always makes me feel overindulgent, which is a feeling I prefer to reserve for actual overindulgence of the calorie- and sugar containing kind.

Mint!! I love lip products that have a minty smell/taste to them. I wish more high end lip products had this sort of scent. Otherwise I like vanilla and other foody/candy flavored sorts of scents in lip products as long as they are not really strong. I *hate* putting anything on my lips though that smells like roses or some other floral/perfume-y scent, Anna Sui I’m looking at your here.

Whatever Dior puts in their Creme de Gloss … apparently a “refreshing white tea fragrance”.
I also like citrus … I have Philosophy’s Let Live Let Love Lime, and I love it, I just wish it was a little less sticky.

Coconut, Mint and Vanilla scents are my favourites. Ill normally get a lipstick or lipgloss based on the colour so if they dont have the best fragrance Ill still put up with them somehow. I do however prefer for them not to be too fruity.

I prefer no scent tbh!
Sometimes the fragrance comes out so.. fragrance-y and fake, which makes it difficult to stand.
If I had to pick one type of scent I can handle most though, it would be fruit scents. Im not fond of flowery smells, I like woodsy smells though, or the smell of spices. Basically, anything that smells natural, light, not too saturated.
Vanilla scents can make me sick sometimes.

I like that vanilla-cake like smell, its sooo yummy I wanna bite my lips lol and boys love it and they like fruity scents too but I perfer the vanilla/cake scent.

Michele Avatar

I prefer non-scented but fruity ones are usually OK. I cant stand perfume scents in lipstick — have bought those and have to toss as they make me ill.

Valerie Avatar

Anna Sui lipstick smell nice (I think it is tea green tea scent)
As much as I like Guerlain product their lipgloss cupcake scent through me a little off 🙁

I can’t stand YSL glosses because they have such a perfume scent. I like MAC’s cremesheen gloss smell. I feel like it’s a different variation of their regular vanilla. lol.

Fruity scents are number 1 for me. Like YSL’s Golden Gloss. Favorite scent of lipgloss. I do like MAC’s Vanilla scent in there lipglasses and lipstick. Peppermint is okay with me.

i hate berrry or fruity scents – like estee lauder ! ewwwwww! i hate the smells and the taste- it grosses me out- like im gonna hurl!
i also dont like perfume rose scents /tastes- liker lancome or loreall.
the ones i prefer and dont mind are a light but not too strond scent/tste like macs l/s and l/g. they are vanilla!
i also rediscovered origins l/s and l/g. they smell and taste like chocolate mint – mmmmmmmm!=)
i dont like stuff too sweet or else i cant keep my mind on anything else.
some other brands could make their items not soo plasticky too !

i like MAC’s scent.

i can handle fruit scents if they are not too sweet or cheap smelling. i just got a rimmel lipstick and it smelled like cherry cough syrup. i threw it away and i hate doing that…

Anything that has to do with food! I simply think is horrible, after just have washed my teeth, to put on my lips something which smells like food! 🙁

Trixie Avatar

I like fruity, but more like a raspberry or strawberry, not so much a tropical like pineapple or mango type smell. Also not crazy about a perfume type smell in a lip product, though I do like L’Oreal’s smell – it is very faint to me. I find that unscented lippies smell like paste or playdough, so I would rather have a nice light smell to counter that.
