I’m using shampoo that I’ve diluted with water in the bottle so that it gets more liquid. I apply, I make bubbles then I rinse with cold water (I noticed hot water make them fluffy!). Then I shape them in a clean towel and let them dry flat on the table. I wash them after every use and so far, they’re still in perfect condition.

I use pure alcohol that vaporizes so it doesn’t make your brushes wet + sterilizes them, too. Super cheap and the most effective way to clean brushes I think.

i just bought MAC brush cleanser to try it after reading and hearing rave reviews of it on youtube and from the MA’s. also as my home made brush cleanser is finished. but every sunday i clean my brushes with either shampoo or mild handwash!:

•A cup of distlled or bottled or purified water
•1/4 cup of alchol 70 or 90% available at chemist (I got it from boots)
•1/2 table spoon of handwash soap
•1/2 tablespoon of shampoo (baby or any shampoo you have for normal to oily hair)
•1 tablespoon of leave in hair conditior I like to use the aussie leave in spray
•Mix together and volia

I use Philosophy Quick Change brush cleaner after each use, and do a thorough cleansing with Johnson’s & Johnson’s Baby Shampoo once a week.

I use extra virgin olive oil first and then baby shampoo. Reshape and lay brushes flat to dry. Does a great job and the bristles are nice and soft.

I used to use Mac’s Brush Cleanser, but then I made my own following Enkore’s recipe: works wonders! And it’s so much cheaper!

I love Sephora’s brush cleaners… I use both – the spray one for light cleaning and the shampoo for a once-a-week deep cleaning.

For my natural hair brushes for powders, dilute baby shampoo (tho’ I don’t do this often enough). My daily use synthetic fiber brushes (266 or 263, 189, 242) for emoliant products, I wash daily with a teeny bit of (non-antibiotic) hand soap and dry flat.

i use baby shampoo for deep cleansing and MAC brush cleaner for spot cleaning 😀 i put the MAC one in a tiny spray bottle to avoid wasting product!

Clinique, Brush Off, and Japonesque (love the smell). I also have Cleanse Off Oil for backup but don’t really use it for brushes. I will have to look into using baby shampoo – it would be much cheaper.

I just used my favorite shampoo, Propoline’s Sunflower and Olive Oil shampoo for dry hair, on my brushes for the first time this weekend. I always stuck to cheaper shampoo for the makeup brushes before, but man, the Propoline stuff made them seem like brand new expensive brushes – they’re so soft and fluffy now!

Dove or Ivory soap, then spray with a bit of Quo brush cleaner/conditioner. Rinse with cold water. Daily or every other day for brushes using cream products. Once a week for brushes meant for powder.

I use Mac brush cleaner everyday for quick cleans. I use to use Japonesque Brush cleaner which I actually think works better than Mac brush cleaner and dries faster but I can’t get past the smell, it’s not a bad smell just to strong. Then once a week I use baby shampoo!

Depending on what I have on the brush I use different products. If the brush has powders on it I generally use MAC brush cleanser but if it has cream on it I use olive oil and baby shampoo. I also like the condition my brush bristles after I wash them so they remain soft.

Sephora brand cleaner for daily cleaning – spray it on, then wipe the brush on a towel. I “deap clean” with shampoo or anit-bacterial hand soap.
