A polished face for me would be clean brown, as flawless a face as you can manage, some definition of the eyes, and gloss or light lipstick on the lips.

Every aspect of my makeup is made to be flawless in every respect :). I never neglect one bit of my makeup. That’s probably why it takes me almost 3 hours to put my makeup on every morning lol.

Hey Briodmun,

WOHUUUUUU,PHHHHEWW!!!REALLY 3 HOURRRS EVERYDAY!!GOD THATS INCREDIBLE!!LOL.But nice effort everyday.

For me,its medium toned skin and colour too.Coz nowadays, everyone do have little bit of pimples,it purely depends on ur food intake and water intake.

Rest is the very well done, eyebrows,a bit thick. And then lite pink gloss over the lips and a light blush on middle of the cheeks just like a baby. And if ur eyes r like black on the very lid then little pink eyeshade on top of it.Thats it for a very polished and eveyday look, accept parties or clubbing.

How u Cristine??By the way nice articles nowadays, thankx gal!!

Luv,
Zzainy..

Wow, 3 hours! I’m lucky if I can get a half an hour in.
I think brows are most important, and for me the most most most important thing is that the bags under my eyes are covered up.

I think flawless skin (with a very slight hint of dew, wonderful (professionally shaped!) brows, and a slick of tinted lip balm physically make a polished look. However, confidence is key to bringing it all together and completing the picture. If you’re not confident about the way you look, who else is going to care or notice how put-together you are?

Just in case anyone wants to check out some products…

For a polished look:

Products that I’ve found that are great for good brows:

Anastasia Brow Grooming Kit
MAC Brow Shader

…Or just opt for using a regular brown/taupe eyeshadow and filling in those sparse areas with a brow brush. Use hair gel for your brows if you don’t want to spend extra on brow wax or brow gel.

For wonderful-looking skin, can’t go wrong with MAC (StudioMist or SelectTint for sheer coverage)or BareEscentuals Mineral Foundation (light to heavy coverage, depending on how you apply it). If you can afford to pay a bit more, try Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation. It’s pricey, but has a nice finish and covers up well. A little goes a long way. Cheaper options are CoverGirl TruBlend, L’Oreal True Match (both of which are pretty damn close and created with the same idea in mind, as you can tell by the names), and (if you want to go a bit more natural)Physician’s Formula Mineral Foundation.

Cherry-flavored (or Strawberry)ChapStick gives a nice bit of color to the lips and is pretty cheap. If you like glosses better, Wet-and-Wild glosses are pretty decent and cheap too. Rimmel has some really cool ones that are sheer and pretty. Maybelline also has those Shiny-Licious glosses that go on well(not too goopy) and last.

I think they key to having a polished looked is being able to bring the look together with very natural blush.
Try MAC Sheertone Blush in Pinch Me or Milani Mineral Blushes in Mai Tai and Soft Rose.

Oh my favorite eyeshadow that can be worn with anything is Milani Illusion. I wear to the office everyday topped off with Mac Pro Lash Mascara.

For the lips I try not to have anything too sparkly or shiny at work. Try MAC Sweetie Lipstick, MAC Entice Lipglass or MAC Lovechild Lipglass.

Also grooming the eyebrows with a MAC Expresso eyeshadow.

for a perfectly polished look I think several things are key –
nice skin with powder or foundation depending on skin
well groomed eyebrows
a bit of shadow
obviously mascara
a hint of color on the lips and cheecks
AND I really think its key to have nicely manicured nails…not icky fake ones, but a nice medium/short nail with a fresh coat of polish.

I agree with most of what has already been mentioned – flawless skin, groomed eyebrows, blush, lip gloss etc. Another key factor is that you have to balance your make up with your personality. Don’t try to look like someone else – work with the features/skin you have and stick to neutral colors when in doubt!

It’s all about the skin. It has to look soft and clean. If the foundation of a house isn’t there, everything will fall apart, the same rule applies to makeup.

As soon as I saw the question I immediately said, the skin! No matter how much makeup you have put on or how much time you have spent if your skin looks like hell it cheapens the whole look. I always have groomed brows, but more because I can’t sleep if I can feel the little hairs growing in than because of the look. If you don’t have time for a lot then atleast mascara and liner, I find whenever someone at work who regularly wears mascara/liner doesn’t have it on I immediately think they are ill until I realize what it is. If I had to prioritize my makeup look I would say:

1.skin
2.mascara
3.liner
4.blush
5.lip gloss
6.shadow
