Whenever I do a really bold red lip or dark lip. I like to keep the eyes relatively simple. I might do a pale grey or a nude or a bronzy colour, but not too much colour cause I want to focus on the lips!
I wear a nude blush, to define cheek bones. I tend to wear red lips when I am dressing up or feeling really sexy 🙂
I´m a rock ´n roll girl so I´m not afraid to pair red lips with almost anything. But I prefer to wear them with 50´s eyeliner and false eyelashes, or maybe paint a frame with black eyeliner, false lashes and pale skin for a sexy, gothic look. Or maybe a smokey eye with red lips is never wrong. Or a green smokey eye.

Intense lashes and soft rose cheeks.
Simple is better when using such a bold color.
I prefer a very clean eye – nude shadow – thin black liner lots of mascara – soft rose/berry cheek and glossy red lips. For me, more on the wine side.
Champagne eyeshadow, big lashes and peachy-bronze cheeks. Clean and simple to keep the attention on my lips.
YDK from Urban Decay on the eyes (a bit of a darker gold colour) my staple black liquid eyeliner and mascara (I like to do a mini winged liner with red lips), flawless skin thanks to MSFN light and Lily Lolo Finishing powder (seems weird to put face powder over face powder, but it works for me, lol), finish off with Stark Naked blush, from the MAC Red She Said collection. *Sigh*, I love fall make-up!
It depends how I feel! If I want a strong look I will do cat eyes with a red lip, if I want a retro look Ill do a soft liquid lined eye with light pink cheeks..
I would go very classic: Sublime Nature or Bamboon paint on lid with Kid or Bamboo on crease; upper lash line with Blacktrack thinly lined and winged out and lightly line the lower lash line. I would wear a peachy pink gel blush for cheeks. For lashes I would use lots and lots of mascara and maybe a pair of faux lashes.
Neutral or gold eyes, minimal liner (brown or black) and light subtle pink cheeks.
I think that right now..the most modern or on-trend way to wear red lips is with a smokey eye. Classic, muted smokey or bronze smokey.
In my opinion,red lips look best with a vintage eye… shimmery lids,a little smoky in the crease,and a fine line of black eyeliner… and nothing on the face,but a bit of nude blush (:

I usually wear red lips when I don’t have time/don’t want to use bright eyeshadow but still want my makeup to be fun and glam.
I like to wear red lips with black or brown smokey eyes too though! It’s a dramatic look, but as long as it’s well balanced I think it works! 🙂
I like 3 looks with red lips. I go for a neutral eye, winged liner, or a sort of smokey liner look.
For my neutral eye I use a sheer vanilla or cream shade and for the crease I use Smashbox Eye Shadow in Nude with a bit of black liner.
Sometimes I’ll wing the liner but not often because most of the time I’m rocking my red lip at work. (I have to stay a little toned down haha).
I’ve never done this going any where but I have tried a smokey look with my red lipstick. I like to line my eyes with black liner and then smudge a black or dark smoke colored shadow into it to give the smokey effect. Some waterproof liner on the water line and some awesome mascara really make the look. I like this especially with a blood red lip.
Also when I wear red, I like to keep my cheeks subtle but not bare and I think the brows should always be defined with a red lip.
