Temptalia Asks You - In what order do you do your beauty routine?
In what order do you do your beauty routine? Hair before makeup? Makeup before hair? Eyeshadow before foundation? Walk us through your routine!
.
I do hair after make-up, unless I’m doing a lot of blow-drying, then I do 75% before makeup, then just do a little bit at the end. I prefer to do eyeshadow, then foundation, then blush, then setting powder, and finally lips.
.
i usually do hair after makeup. here is my usual routine:
foundation
eyes
cheeks
set foundation
lips
Moisturize face
Half of the hair (basic shaping with hair dryer) while moisturizer sets
Prime face
Prime eyes
Eyeshadows
Foundation
Eye pencils if applicable
Setting powder
Mascara
Lips
Finalize hair with a last blowing and then wax. 🙂
Ta-dah.
Final look? Something like this: http://twitpic.com/bkl7w
Maybe with less funky bangs but oh well. 😉
😀
I do hair before makeup because you need to leave your moisturizer on your skin for 10 minutes. In that 10 minutes i do my hair, unless its fancy or i know it will need time to do. then i do makeup before hair.
foundation
powder
bronzer
eyes
cheeks
lips.
What do I do as a routine? Skin care, make-up, then hair – and if I’m working, I sometimes can get away without doing the last two. lol.
Foundation, eyes, lips and then hair 🙂 I havent yet mastered cheeks -_-
It varies, but it’s usually something like:
lip balm
foundation
concealer (if I need it)
powder
eyes
cheeks
brows
hair
lip color
1/ FACE: moisturizer, enlighting base (type Le Blanc de Chanel), concealer, powder
2/ EYES: eyeshadow, khôl, eyeshadow, eyeliner, eyebrows filling
3/ FACE: blush
4/ EYES: mascara
5/ LIPS: in general lipgloss or lustre lipstick
6/ HAIR (which consists of almost nothing!)
My routine:
Primer, mineral make-up, bronzer
Eyeshadow, eyebrows, liner, mascara
Blush
Lipbalm, lipstick or gloss
I always do my hair after make-up.
I’ve recently started doing my hair after my makeup,
so that I don’t have to pin it back away from my face. And then it creases my hair and ugh.
So anyway, first, I moisturize, of course! And then prime my whole face with M.A.C. Matte.
Then I do the eyes: liquid eyeliner on the top lash line, kohl pencil on the lower waterline, mascara
Face comes second: studio fix powder, bronzer, mineralize skinfinish and then blush!
And she-bang, I’m done and then I flat iron my hair, which is a long long process. (;
Oh yeah! I forgot, can not forget the lip moisturizer and LIPGLOSS.
How could I forget??
I know my makeup sounds like not much at all, but I’m fourteen so there’s not much things I do
that my mom wouldn’t make me run back upstairs and wipe it all off!
Ohhh, but I wish. One day! ( :
It doesn’t sound like not much at all, Melissa! 🙂 When I was 14 I had never made up. Not even lipgloss. I started making up at 18 (just some black khol). Then at 19 I started wearing foundation, mascara and lipstick. So you are probably more advanced at 14 than I was at 20! I only started wearing blush at 30 years old – because I couldn’t figure how to apply it! 😀
I started make up when I was 21 😡
Wow! When I was 14 I didn’t wear any makeup! I only wore eyeliner when I was 15. I started wearing studiofix + powder around 16/17 and eyeshadow and the rest around 18! But now I just use Bare Minerals because as a teenager (I’m 19), you don’t need a lot of face makeup because it causes more problems than it covers!
Moisturiser, hair, primer, foundation, concealer, eyebrows, eyes (primer, base, shadows), blush, lips.
Like you, Christne, I usually do 75% of my hair styling first, then do the final touches after my face is finished.
Foundation comes first, then eyes/eyebrows, setting powder, cheeks and finally, lips.
If I’m using lots of loose pigments on my eyes, I’ll do my eyes before applying founfation.
Hair, eyes (except mascara), blush, mascara, lips 🙂
I do makeup before hair.
Toner, moisturizer, sun block,
pimer, foundation, concealer, loose powder
Brow
Eye primer, eyeshadow
Eye liner, Mascara
Blush
Lips
and then hair. 🙂
Hair
Eye
Face
Lips
My routine is a little bit special 😀

Face
cheeks
eyes
lips
hair
I tend to do all of my color last, so it’s:
Hair, concealer, foundation, setting powder, eyes, blush. I tend to do blush last so I can match it with my eyes- not the other way around.
I do
Hair
Foundation
concealer
eye shadow
blush
mascara n touch ups
Lips
den OUT THE DOOR:D
I do the hair first, because it takes like 15-20 minutes to straighten my hair and I ALWAYS do that, whether or not I choose to wear makeup that day.
After the hair, it’s in this order:
Eyes: primer, shadow, liner, mascara
Face: primer, foundation, powder, bronzer
Lips: balm/stain/gloss (whichever I’m wearing that day)
My beauty routine
1. Hair.
-Blow dry
-style
2. Eyes.
-primer
-shadow
-liner
-mascara
3. Face
-mosturizer/primer
-foundation
-setting powder
-MSF or Irridecent Pressed Powder
-blush
-highlight
4. Lips
Hair first, because my room gets too hot when I do my hair, and would melt off my makeup if I did makeup first.
Then, face, eyes, cheeks, and then lips.
This is my routine:
– Hair (I blowdry and flat iron )
– Moisturizer
– Eyes
– Foundation
– Blush
– Finishing powder
– Highlight
– Lips
Wash face/prep face
Hair (I don’t do much with my hair, just blowdry and maybe pull it up – it’s very long and difficult to style more than that)
Foundation
Blush
Eyes except for mascara
Finishing
Lips
Mascara (I always do it at the very end, I don’t know why…always have)
Skincare
Primer or Base (sometimes both)
Foundation
Concealer
Powder
Contour & Highlight
Brows
Shadow Base
Shadow & Liner
Blush
Mascara
Lipstick
Lipgloss
Hair
Perfume!!! 😀
I USUALLY blow dry my hair, then do makeup (primer-foundation-concealer-powder-cheeks-eyes-lips) then I finish my hair (flat iron or hot rollers). Although after looking at everyone else’s answers, I’m totally thinking of majorly switching up my order!
Hair before makeup for sure! I use the blowdryer and when I used to do my make up first, my foundation would “melt” with the heat and thus made me look super shinny.
So now I do this…I shower, then I moisturize face and body. Then still in my bathrobe I blowdry my hair. Then I literally have to go and stand in front of my fan to COOL OFF from the dryer heat, and then I go change into my clothes because I also used to sweat somewhat in my clothes and feel all sticky when I used to dress first and then blowdried my hair.
DAMN THAT BLOWDRYER!!!
Then I get down with the fun part…makeup!
Foundation
Eyebrows
Eyes
Blush
Lips
1. Shower – wash face in shower
2. Apply toner to face
3. Apply eye cream
4. Lotion to entire body
5. Moisturizer to face
6. Foundation or tinted moisturizer
7. Eyes (primer, eyeshadow, liner, mascara)
8. Eyebrows
9. Hair (partial/I start thinking about the style at this point)
10. Lips (partial – base, light moisturizer, and I start to think about lipstick)
11. Cheeks
12. Hair (Finishing)
13. Lips (Finish)
14. Set Powder, fix spray
15. Final check of the overall look to make sure everything works
Hair after makeup and eyes after setting my foundation. 🙂
I always start with a shower and washing my face, and then:
1. Toner
2. Moisturize face & use eye cream
3. Moisturize body (while facial moisturizers are soaking in)
4. Face primer (only sometimes)
5. Foundation, tinted moisturizer, or Bare Minerals
6. Concealer & setting powder
7. Eyes (primer, shadow, liner, mascara)
8. Brows (fill and set)
9. Cheeks (blush & highlighter)
10. Lips (lip balm and then a gloss or lipstick)
11. Hair (I usually let this dry a little while I put my makeup on, then I continue to style it)
There you have it! I have to do it in the same order too or I’ll miss a step!
Well, this is my routine:
1. Cleanser, Toner,Moisturizer, Eye cream, Sun block
2. Face Primer and Foundation
3. Concealer (could switch among step 2 and 3 without any regrets!)
4. Setting Powder (face and under eyes) and MAC Fix+
5. Blush – countour, blush, highlight
6. Eyes – primer, lid, crease, highlighter, eyebrows, gel eyeliner,
mascara.
7. Fix +
8. Lips – color and gloss
9. Hair – I style my hair the night before (Blow drying and other styling tools)
and then…ta ra!!!!—>http://twitter.com/account/picture
The whole process (girls, this is the plan when I am in no hurry; otherwise, I go with bareminerals, blush, mascara and gloss)
http://twitter.com/hlespier
I forgot to finish my first answer…
The whole process could take about 30 to 40 minutes…20 minutes if my hubby is rushing me. Otherwise, if I need to get out the door, I do exactly what I said earlier- and I will be ready in 5-8 minutes.
Check how I look like (kind of) on the post in between my 2 comments.
Sorry for making it so difficult. Next time, I promise I will do better 😉
I leave hair until the end, because I only air-dry it and brush it – no heating or styling, except the occasional ponytail or braid. I normally do moisturizer and oil control lotion, then concealer and foundation, powder, brows, eyeshadow, mascara, blush, and lips. It can take anywhere from 15 to 40+ minutes, depending on how much “playing” I’m doing :-p
hair – straighten
moisturizer
eyeliner – top and bottom waterlines and set with eyeshadow
mascara – mascara first then curl
concealer – under eyes and blemishes
powder – msf natural to set the concealer
(if used for the day) blush and face highlight
inner corner highlight for eyes
lipstick
set everything with fix +
Hm, I usually don’t do my hair haha, so I guess hair before makeup (just tying my hair in a ponytail).
I usually do my makeup in this order:
sunscreen
primer
concealer
foundation
UDPP
brows
Painterly
blush
eyeshadow
liner
beauty powder & finishing powder
mascara
lipstick
First I put on moisturizer, and while it’s absorbing I pick out what makeup I’m going to wear and do my hair. I do my hair first because it can mess up my makeup when I blowdry my hair, and I hate when my hair gets stuck in my lipgloss! Next, I apply foundation, set it with powder, and top with blush. Eyeshadow comes next – lids, crease, highlight. Over my eyeshadow I put my eyeliner, followed by mascara. Finally, lipstick and lipgloss. Then I set everything with Fix +.
For everyday I might wear mascara and gloss but that’s it.
Workdays go like this:
clean eyeshadow brushes
cleanse & moisturize face
try to figure out what to wear, spend 5-10 min trying on clothes and giving up and start my makeup
fix +
prime skin, eyes & lips
foundation & concealer
brows-pencil, shadow, & brow gel
eyeshadow
eyeliner (sometimes before eyeshadow depending on the look)
lash primer
mascara
powder
bronzer/contour
blush
highlight
lip liner
lipstick and/or gloss
lashes if i’m wearing them
fix +
perfume
downstairs for hair (unless using hot rollers and those go on after foundation, take them out after doing eyes and finish styling at the end)
My routine is pretty simple
CONCEALER
FOUNDATION
EYE SHADOWS LINER
EYE LASHES THEN RETOUCH FOUNDATION IF I HAVE FALLOUT
APPLY EYELASHES, RE APPLY EYE LINER
LIPSTICK OR GLOSS
FIX PLUS AND THEN HAIR
OUT THE DOOR
WELL ACTUALLY THAT ISNT THAT SIMPLE LOL
This is for everything, obviously if I wear less on a particular day, that step would be removed.
moisturizer/sunscreen
lip balm or lip conditioner
hair (completely if wearing up.. 90% if wearing down)
perfume
udpp/tfsi
shadow
liner
curler/mascara
primer/foundation or tinted moisturizer
blush/contour/highlight
lip liner/lipstick and/or gloss
finishing powder
fix+
hair (let down, final styling details)
When I have time on my hands:
Wash face apply serum
Apply gel to hair and start to style
Apply SPF to face and finish hair
Apply concealer and/or foundation
Do my eyes (primer, eyeshadow, eyeliner, eyebrows, mascara)
Bronzer and/or blush
Lips
Diffuse or plop hair
When I need to get put the door:
Wash face apply SPF
Apply gel to hair and spritz with water and style
Apply foundation then I’m out the door
Finish up in the car by
Applying mascara and lipgloss. Maybe apply a little MAC’s Ricepaper around my tear ducts and brow
Start with hair, setting it in curlers if necessary. Then makeup, followed by finishing up hair.
my routine is tailored to save me the most time in the morning without cutting corners.
moisturizer on face, then primer.
get dressed (while waiting for the moisturizers to sink in).
nowadays i start with eyes first, so i apply my shadow and liner.
then i apply my liquid foundation.
i apply mascara while i wait for the foundation to set.
then i apply my MSF or other powder, then continue with the rest of the face.
so basically, the only odd thing is putting mascara in between face stuff.
Moisturizer.
Eyeshadow primer and eyeshadow.
Foundation primer.
Foundation.
Concealer.
Setting powder.
Brows.
Blush, highlight, and contour.
Eye liner.
Mascara.
Lips.
Then hair.
