Temptalia Asks You - How do you make your lipgloss last longer?

How do you make your lipgloss last longer? What are your tricks and tips?

.

I layer lipstick under it for one. I also try to avoid drinking, LOL! Stickier glosses tend to last longer on me than other ones, too 🙂

When I want to keep the sheer look, I use ‘invisible’ liner. (Revlon makes one, so does Mary Kay.) Otherwise, I use regular liner and lipstick.

Ha ha – when I drink something I first lick the glass where my lip will touch it – then it doesn’t come off. I have learnt how to do this in a very inconspicuous way now.
LOL! I can see you all picturing it and its not like a HUGE lap up on the side of my glass – looking seductively across the room.

Try it, and move the glass into your mouth and onto your tongue.

So strange i guess – but it works!

I am all about layering. If i want the gloss to stay true to it’s color I will use a nude liner & lipstick before putting on the gloss. Otherwise, I mix colors & always do liner, lipstick & gloss. I end up only having to reapply gloss twice a day this way. Sometimes I will for go the liner if i am going for a softer lip but always put lipstick underneath for staying power! And I agree with Calico…straws for drinking are a must 🙂

i usually put a chopstick, or a lipbalm.. under the lipglass, but mainly i try to stay away from food and drinks, and if its not happening always carrying a mirror and a lipglass in my purse!!!

LOL when I read this i was like ‘hmm she puts a chopstick on her lip, i don’t get it?’ Then I thought maybe it’s a new beauty product.

How do I get lipgloss to stay? I carry the tube in my pocket ;)…I don’t mind reapplying so much but I hate when I drink from a glass then take another sip and there’s already lipstick or lipgloss on it and i feel like if I don’t line it up perfectly the previous lipstick will get in the wrong place, so I tend to agree on the straw thing.

I use a nude lipliner before I put on any lip color.
…and I just drink through a straw! lol. It seems to work pretty good for me. =D

My favorite trick, for myself and clients is using a bit of STILIFE paint on the lip. It gives the gloss something to hold on too. This also works for lipsticks. I’ll sometimes choose different paints based on the look I’m going for.

If I knew the answer, I’d give it. I love lipgloss but every single lipgloss I’ve ever tried, dries up on me and apparently it’s just for me, I’ll use the same thing on someone else and their lips stay hydrated. =(

you know, I recently bought mac prime for the lips…let me tell you this stuff is fab!!!!! let it get tacky after a few sec put on gloss and it stays put!!! amazing..my new love.

I put MAC under eye concealer on the lips and then line the lips. Then I fill the lips with the liner thats the color of my lips. But mostly it’s – use a straw and reapply.

I usually wear lip liner underneath my gloss. The most important thing for me though, is to be only buy long lasting glosses. My faves are Make Up For Ever Super Gloss, Merle Norman Luxiva Vinyl Lip Wear, MAC Lipglass, Lancome Juicy Tubes, Bobbi Brown Lip Gloss, Clinique Long Last Glosswear, Lancome La Laque, Nars Lacquer, Chanel Glossimers, Estee Lauder Pure Color Glosses, Physicians Formula Plump Potion, Lip Fusion, L’oreal 6 hr Infallible, Revoln Mineral Glazewear, Maybelline Superstay Gloss, Guerlain KissKiss Laque, Lip Fusion Plump & Replump Gloss, Dior Addict Plastic Gloss, Dior kiss Plumping Gloss and many more, I’m a gloss addict !!!!!!!!

Ruth, I bow down to you. I never thought there was someone else who loved lipgloss like I do!!! You’ve tried brands I have yet to embark on.

I usually use tacky lip gloss so that there’s little chance of it totally fading. Usually, in addition to that, I do just like the ladies say here: drink through a straw, use primer, and layer lipstick and liner below gloss (I would recommend a little liner over gloss too). Also, don’t lick the lips too much, try to cut up your meals into little pieces, and grab food with your teeth (as opposed to your whole mouth) when putting it to your lips so that your lips don’t rub all over your food and utensils (like what would happen if you were eating a sandwich as is or large chunks of food). Yeah, I know that sounds nuts (and a pain) but it helps 🙂 Anything for the sake of beauty rite? lol

it usually doesn’t stay which is lame because I drink a lot of water during the day(try to anyhow). I find that it stays a little longer though if i color my lips with a lip liner.
You’re right Christine, the best way to make it last is not to eat or drink. LOL

hmm….
– don’t touch your lips
– try not to eat foods that require biting (pizza, sandwiches)
– don’t press your lips together
– don’t lick your lipgloss no matter how good it tastes
– try not to talk LOL
