Temptalia Asks You - Do you wear makeup even when you're not feeling well?

Do you wear makeup even when you’re not feeling well? Or does makeup help make you look less sick?

.

I’m achy, coughing, and feel yuck–so I generally avoid wearing makeup unless I really, really have to! 🙂

no makeup when I’m sick, cause sometimes foundation makes me look pale or white or sick, and when you’re sick your skin is not as good as the other days for primer and foundation and all that, it’d only make matters worse!

Jessica T Avatar

Of course, something’s got to make me feel somewhat sexy! I just do an eyeshadow (somthing gold that makes my eyes look radiant), a gloss…little bronzer, and i call it a day!

Elisa Avatar

Mhhh…if I’m feeling so bad that I must stay in bed, I don’t like to use make up, because I don’t want to leave make up traces on my pillow and so on, but when I catch a cold and I decide to go out anyway, I always wear makeup to seem a little healthy.

I need help!
Someone in the great temptalia audience can give me informations about MAC prices in Japan? I know it’s expensive, but I need to know how much. Someone can make me examples? I’m really interested in eyeshadow price!

Victoria Maria Avatar

Hi Elisa, I know my way around on the MAC website – so I just went on the japanese, and for eyeshadows, the price is:

Including tax

If I am so sick that I have to stay in bed or at home anyway, I don’t put on makeup but let the skin “rest” as well. Spending my energy on getting better instead of putting makeup on!

But if I am going somewhere, even to the doctor, I try to put on a little eyeshadow and some lipgloss at least to try feeling better.

Guess it depends on how sick you are…

Tasha Avatar

It depends on the occasion. If I’m just going to school I usually don’t bother (LOL even when I’m not sick) but when I have to meet people I generally try my best not to look sick. Of course if it’s an eye infection or an allergy I wouldn’t even think about it but if it’s regular cough, colds and a low grade fever why not?

MizzMACDiva Avatar

Depends on how sick I am. I tried to get ready on Saturday night to go out but my eyes were so watery my eyemakeup kept messing up! So I gave up and went back to bed. I said there will always be a next time! But my face came out fine…so for a regular day maybe just some color on my face if I’m not feeling well like now:(

Dini23 Avatar

I had a really bad morning sickness when I was pregnant which lasted for 3-4 months. That was the only time when I didnt wear any makeup to work.

Ashley Avatar

Not much. I usually add a little colour to my cheeks and a light eyeliner to the inner corners to seem more awake, a little liner on the upper lash line, waterproof mascara and call it a day. I have very few days where I am JUST in class, I’m usually running around meeting profs/volunteer stuff so I like to look at least somewhat like I made an effort!

VanessaMarie Avatar

It depends, if I have to go to work I’ll go all out! If you look great you’ll feel better… But if I’m just laying around then no way!!

IZzySA Avatar

I was hospitalized for 33 days with double back surgery — I put on minimum makeup (blush, eyebrow pencil, and some lip balm) every day for one week. When I was diagnosed with MRSA, I had to stop because I was so weak, and to be honest, the MRSA nearly killed me, and not wearing makeup was just a blip on my radar.

Good health is the main staple of beauty:) Stay healthy, stay beautifu!

Candee Sparks Avatar

You forgot another very importaint question! “Do you wear makeup to make yourself look like your sick?”

I sure as hell do. Nothing is more relaxing than to white out the face, purple the eyes and use concealer on the lips to make yourself look terribly sick. Works like a charm when you need to miss school for a day for whatever reason. =P

firepail Avatar

If I am stay-at-home sick, then no makeup, but if I have to go out while sick, I make some effort. Usually just the bare minimum though, so I don’t look dead.

Heather Avatar

I will wear makeup if I feel somewhat bad (just because it makes me feel better to look in the mirror and not look completely like crap) but if I feel totally horrible to the point I can’t get out of bed, I will not wear any.

Luda Avatar

It depends – if I am throwing up and have a stomach virus then no. If I have a cold or just feel blah then absolutely. Generally speaking if I don’t wear make up I feel sick.

Lana Avatar

I actually am staying home sick right now, and yes, I did do my makeup. It makes me look not dead, makes me feel better on a bad day, and I still have to go to work, just no school today. Makeup is my therapy so why not use it when I really need to feel better?

Sara Kye Avatar

Not really. Unless I’m going to school and such and want to look more alive I’ll throw on some blush and some concealer/foundation but I’ll definitely not do heavy makeup.

Christy Avatar

Depends. If I am going out and am only a teeny bit sick, then yes, but not everything. Maybe a little bit of foundation, powder, eyeliner, blush, mascara and gloss. But if I’m in bed the entire time, such as when I had food poisoning & was in bed for 6 weeks, then just lipgloss when I went to church or the doctor.

msviolet Avatar

Like a lot of other people have said, it depends. If I have to leave the house and have a face-to-face with anyone, the bare minimum I’ll use is some Studio Fix powder to buff out any blotchiness, some concealer to hide my “I swear I’m not a vampire” dark circles, some mascara, and a quick pinch of the cheeks covers for blush.

On the other hand, if I’m not planning on going anywhere or I’m just dropping off bills or whatever, there’s no way I’m going to waste my time putting anything on. My parents have obviously seen me before I started wearing makeup, so I don’t think they’ll care if I mope around the house in all my naked-face glory.

Yaya Avatar

I do not wear makeup when I feel really sick. When I’m sick, I don’t care what I look like, just want to feel better. Plus, I feel like the makeup would get contaminated.

Caitlin Avatar

No makeup when I’m sick. My face is normally super oily when I get sick and my skin is normally combination dry I don’t know how to handle the crazy oiliness when I’m sick.

Danielle Avatar

If I’m feeling blah, tired, and/or on my period, then definitely yes – I need all the help I can get! If I can’t get out of bed, then no.

Today I’m congested and hoarse, but I had to go to my son’s school, so it was undereye concealer, eyebrows, and tinted lip balm.

Nicole N. Avatar

Nope. I really don’t want to contaminate my makeup. I’ll wear a chap stick (’cause for some reason when I get a cold or whatever, my lips get icky), but that’s it. I don’t even want to get out of bed when I’m feeling yucky, let alone get all dolled up.

Kacie Avatar

If I still have to go to work or school I throw on concealer and chapstick, but that’s about it. maybe mascara if I feel up to it, LOL. Other than that, I wallow in my sickness and try to cajole my friends and family into taking care of me.

Linda Avatar

It depends on what kinda sickness it is. If its the cold or flu (running nose, running eyes, coughing, fever, sneezing etc) then nope no make up as its the last thing on my mind.

If the sickness is to do with my kidney and bladder problems then yes sometimes I do put make up on to try to give myself a bit of a boost, or even to take my mind of the pain and discomfort I like to try to consentrate on putting new bright and bold eyeshadow combos together.

Grace Avatar

No way…if I’m sick my nose is runny and I’m rubbing my eyes, I would just cancel out wearing makeup since it would all come off with the tissues anyway.

Krys Avatar

If I have to go out yes because when I’m sick the bags under my eyes get worse, fevers break me out and I just get an overal sick glow to me. I need the makeup to hide that look so that the only gross thing they see is my runny nose!

tremorviolet Avatar

Similar to most posters, if I’m home in bed, no make-up but if I’m going out for any reason (like running to the store), I at least put on a little liner and mascara (my lashes are blond! I look like ghost without mascara). If I’m feeling bad but good enough to go to work, etc., putting on a little make-up usually makes me feel better.

Ceci Avatar

If I’m sick as a friggin dog, I wouldn’t put any makeup on. Then again, usually I’m home anyway when I’m like that so there’s no need for it for me. If I absolutely have to go out (making a run to the drugstore or something), I would probably put on a little something just to look decent (gloss and concealer at the most). If I’m not so sick, I’ll wear a full face.

Flora Avatar

If I have to leave the house I’ll wear concealer with MSF Natural or Fix and neutral eyes and lips. I’m rarely smart enough to stay in bed when I’m sick so I’d skip makeup if I ended up that way.

Carla Avatar

If I’m sick and I really really have to go somewhere important I put make up on. Last week my mother-in-law was launching a book and even thoug I was sick I had to go. No way I was going without make up. It would scare all the guests away 😉

muffingrl Avatar

depends on where im going. if im feeling horrible, i’ll slap on some concealer and curl my lashes to go to school to avoid looking like death. chances are, if im really sick, i won’t want to go anywhere anyway, so i’ll just stay home and look like dog poop.

Hanna Avatar

If its a cold or something that’s contagious I’ll avoid makeup all together. I will wear mascara and an eyeshadow base to cheer me up. =0D (Sounds kinda weird lol)

Julie Avatar

I HATE putting on make-up when I’m sick.
It makes me feel like I’m actually destroying my skin 🙂 and moisturizers and primers don’t work as well, giving me MORE dry skin 🙁
Overall, it just makes me feel worse than I already am.
It’s not going to kill to not wear make-up for a couple of days, right?
😀

Daisy Avatar

When I’m feeling ill, no. Was just housebound for a week due to illness and didn’t wear a bit of make-up all week. But now that I’m feeling better I’m wearing my make-up again and it really does make me feel a lot prettier. Then again that’s quite easy after looking horribly ill for a week 😉

Jennifer Avatar

Depends on what I have to do/where I have to go – if I’m just going to stay home, or if I have a couple of classes or dance, then I’ll skip the makeup (except maybe a light dusting of powder for going out), but if I’ve got lectures, socializing-type events, or other places where I need to make a good impression, makeup is necessary no matter what.

I’m icky (sore throat, runny nose, stomach pains, and general cold symptoms) today, and wearing no makeup, even though I’m at school and have dance class in the afternoon… makeup just would not make me look or feel any better, unfortunately!

Rio Avatar

It depends. If I am staying home, I don’t wear any. If I have to leave, I’ll wear a very small amount of eyeliner, and maybe a little blush if I am really pale.

Bettina Avatar

I usually wear make up to work because I think I look pale and boring if I don’t… but if I’m sick I’ll still wear it as not to look as bad as I feel.
